Used to hate watching Antoine Walker play in Boston. That shit was funny style to me.

Add on

Posted by benny, Mon Apr-16-18 01:10 PM
undeniable talent, but man can he get annoying with his "gamesmanship" and solo-ball (that is super effective)
2650928, speaking of Neymar...
Posted by thejerseytornado, Mon Apr-16-18 01:23 PM
soccer has a BUNCH of these dudes.

i don't like Cristiano Ronaldo's style, but that very much might be team rivalry based.

Neymar always was everything bad about brazilian players (ball hog who couldn't control emotions, etc.). 99% of non-barca fans would say Busquets. I never really dug the O.G. Ronaldo. Rooney too.

And don't get me started on Luis Suarez. I can't wait for him to get replaced. If Griezmann comes to barca, it better be to take his spot entirely.

I hate watching Diego Costa. Drogba too. Ballack. Something about Thomas Muller bothers me too.

2650640, Mid career and beyond Karl Malone
Posted by GOMEZ, Fri Apr-13-18 02:38 PM
no denying his effectiveness, but even his stupid Mailman dunk with one hand behind his head was boring as fuck.
2650671, Young Karl Malone was one of my faves...cuz he would crush Boston.
Posted by Castro, Fri Apr-13-18 09:54 PM
Him and Stockton would beat Boston every year.
2650672, he could run like a deer, too
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Apr-14-18 01:10 AM
barkley was more explosive in the open court and he could handle the ball. but as far as a classic trailer-of-the-break, malone ran fluidly and brilliantly. both great fast break players.
2650691, yeah, young Mailman was something different.

Young Malone/Stockton. Eaton. Pistol Pete. Ak47. Rudy. Hayward. Dantley.

Too dope.

Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Apr-13-18 09:30 PM
The ball stopping and "all on me" style of play damn near made me lose my mind. Thankfully, we had the coach who could harness that into rings.
2650681, Eh.
Posted by Ryan M, Sat Apr-14-18 01:52 AM
He was so fun on the going nowhere teams and he was so great on 08-13. He came with headaches but I can’t say I hated the style whatsoever.

I absolutely did lol
2650806, I can't say that I hated watching his style
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sun Apr-15-18 08:15 PM
Because he was one of the greatest bad shot makers of all-time. On a pure observational level, it was amazing to watch.

But as a fan of the team, it was immensely frustrating to watch him eat up time during possessions to get up bad shots.
2650809, me either and I guess since I wasn't emotinally...

invested in the Lakers as a team, I didn't see it from the side a Lakers' fan would. I LOVE(D) Kobe. One of my favorite players to ever play.

some of this is revisionist history. i was as down with the 2001 Sixers as anyone else and am proud to stand against all the racists who gave him shit.

but unless he was having a good game, iverson was damn near unwatchable. his highlight reel was always amazing, but watching him shoot 11-26 night after night after night wasn't the best unless we were winning big. no, we never gave him teammates or a coach to put him in a worthwhile offense, but that complete monopoly of the ball is never a good look, even when it's from one of your heroes.
2651110, Kobe lost the 2004 NBA finals by himself. Tough to watch.

Posted by GOMEZ, Tue Apr-17-18 08:08 PM
in my feeble brain it felt like he was getting lucky for like 2 or 3 straight seasons. Manu was/is the shit, though. I just accept it now.

Important to note, i'm not comparing their styles, but I had the same issue with Jeff Hornacek when he was on the Jazz. He would always hit these stupid runners and flip shots that just seemed lucky as fuck - cut me watching some random Jeff Hornacek feature on NBA Inside Stuff or something, of him practicing these stupid fucking shots, like 'that sonofabitch has been practicing that shit! he might be kinda nice'.

NBA: Reggie Miller. Just seemed so one dimensional to me. One of the best shooters ever, but I couldn't watch a whole Pacers game because of him.

NFL: Troy Aikman. I feel like he benefited more by the pieces around him that vice versa. Played the position to paint-by-numbers.
2650866, your latter pick made me forget Eli.

2650914, I had to learn to love Ryan Howard's style
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Apr-16-18 01:01 PM
At first it was just exciting that he had so much power. Once pitchers got a book on him, he turned into an interesting player but sometimes a frustrating one to watch. If you made the pitches on him, he struck out. If you didn't, oooohhhhhh, he would make your ass PAY. His struggles against lefties never ceased to be frustrating but overall I loved his game in the end.

I loved the dunks but never cared for the rest of his game.

Same with Shawn Kemp
2650970, RE: Vince Carter
Posted by melmag, Mon Apr-16-18 07:27 PM
his dunks overshadowed his offensive game imo (as it should) but Vince was an
underrated passer, had an effortless jumpshot, incredible balance & slick ballhandling.
dude is as complete as it gets on offense. fun player to watch even without the dunks
