2646453, do tell
Posted by dillinjah, Sat Mar-10-18 11:08 PM
2646456, as a Hawks fan, i think Richard is definitely on the decline.
Posted by PROMO, Sat Mar-10-18 11:47 PM
he's been not his regular self the last two seasons as he's battled nagging injuries. he's already had to have an unexpected surgery this offseason in addition to surgery on his torn achilles. torn achilles often change an athlete FOREVER. for these reasons, i understand WHY the Hawks parted ways with him, although I wouldn't be MAD if he had stayed.

what really tickles me though is seeing either 1) Niners fans who used to spew VENOM on his name suddenly do a 180 and start praising him, or (and this is even better) 2) Niners fans who unconditionally hate Sherman and are struggling to the deal with the rage boiling inside themselves now that he's on their team.

i wish Richard the best. he should be in the Hawks Ring of Honor in my opinion. i totally understand why he went to the Niners. i'm sure he has an axe to grind with either the Hawks or Pete Carroll or both regarding how he was treated the last two seasons. He's a competitor and has a chip on his shoulder always and he'd love nothing more than to stick it to the team that cut him (even if they were the same team that took a chance on him when no others did).
2646464, you sound hella moist
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Mar-11-18 12:09 PM
2646466, I don't. I sound reasonable, but you always got some shit to say to me...
Posted by PROMO, Sun Mar-11-18 12:24 PM
so this is expected.

Not sure how wishing an all-time great Seahawks player the best and wishing him enshrinement in our Ring of Honor sounds "moist" but you can be a real fucking idiot sometimes so the fact that you don't know what "moist" means is also expected.
2646448, this tickles me.
Posted by PROMO, Sat Mar-10-18 08:22 PM
2646457, Didn't see this coming, but I guess it makes sense
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Mar-11-18 12:25 AM
CB was certainly our weakest position this past season. Sherman's best years are behind him, and he's got potentially two bum wheels, but he's still better than every other CB on the roster. And the move will allow other to focus on other needs in the draft (O-line, pass rusher, etc.).

There's only two players on the roster that we're around those few years where the Niners were really feuding with Seattle: Staley and Reid, and Reid is about to be a free agent and probably won't be back. So it's not like it's going to be weird or anything with him in the locker room.

Let's see what he can still do. Should work on some level.
2646475, if he can somehow get fully, or even mostly back...
Posted by PROMO, Sun Mar-11-18 03:46 PM
from the achilles he should be good still. might take until midseason though to find if that happens.

one bonus you get out of Sherman though is he is one of the best RUN STOPPING CBs in NFL history, so even if he's only okay in coverage his natural run stopping instincts should still help y'all.

i wish him the best. i still hope we destroy the Niners, but I wish him all the personal success. it would be hilarious if we were blowing y'all out and he picked Wilson then ran over and handed the ball to Pete. all i could do is laugh. i would probably even laugh if it was tight game or we were down, cuz Sherm is just awesome like that.
2646667, It also helps that he's apparently signed to a very incentive-laden deal
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Mar-12-18 04:39 PM
So if he comes to training camp and is still injured or underperforms or both, the Niners can cut him and only owe him $3 million.

But if he's good and plays every game and is on the field for at least 90% of the defensive snaps, then we'll owe him $13 million, and he'll be worth it.

Pretty safe situation for us either way.
2646668, yeah, i saw the terms. pretty low-risk for the Niners.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Mar-12-18 04:42 PM
like I said, and like he later admitted, this is about proving something to the Seahawks leadership. he's fine w/ the money maybe not being as high as it COULD be if he can make them eat crow.

him and Pete Carroll really had a touchy relationship the last two years. he wants Pete to suffer.

2646864, What's the deal with Michael Floyd?
Posted by Creole, Wed Mar-14-18 12:39 PM
Dude went from borderline stardom to being an afterthought.

With the two WR signings (Ryan Grant and John Brown) the Ravens are making, I'd still like to see them grab Floyd, Jordy, and, then, grab Ridley in the 1st Round. Seems like that may be the best that can be done with limited cap flexibility.

Especially since we just cut Maclin!
2646890, he's a headcase...Pryor is labeled a bad teammate/soft..i see them

he is better than anything we currently have tho

2646911, I really don't want Ridley either. My preference is for Guice...
Posted by Creole, Wed Mar-14-18 09:13 PM
or Zeus Jr.

However, I do see that something splashy has to happen to excite the fanbase again.

Edit: Bottom of the division only if we don't give Joe someone to throw to. It may be time to float there for a couple seasons so we can get higher draft picks. The table is already set though. No matter what, we'll always need to pay a QB dumb stupid money. It's just ow the market is now.

to come here...We can make a move or 2 in the draft to 'help' but.....

Look at our org
Look at our team
Look at our coaches

we have an outdated, inept, conservative, boring offense...We kept Marty.....................................................

we 'Went all in on defense' last year with the easiest schedule we will see in YEARS and still ain't do shit (a lot of our defensive stats are fools gold...see Weddle)

Our receivers caught a lot of flack and in some instances, rightfully so.....but Maclin literally quitting mid season was telling...Wallace been biting his tongue...Joe ain't been the same and too comfy.

The team doesn't want to win...Bisciotti been pissin on our heads tellin us its half n half and b4 casual fans ate it up bcuz this city loves tradition and blind loyalty...meanwhile EVERY move they made makes 0 sense...we blew it...now we are financially hamstrung until maybe 2020....so yep...bottom of the division

I really like Guice(prefer Michel because of the type of back and would love to get the TE from Penn St)...but ummmmm....aint no way in HELL I want

resign if he can't find a better deal. I read a piece where Ozzie isn't averse to having him back. Just gotta be at a lower number.

I'm a Joe apologist because I believe he's never had a legit WR corps handed to him. Now, give him some receivers that can run routes and catch, then crucify his ass if he still bums it up.

And sadly, I agree with most of what you said with the exception of Zeus Jr. 14 reps don't mean nothing especially since they would work on making him stronger. Dude handled his business on OK's line. I also dig Sony by he's not a 1st rounder or built to carry that rock.

2647305, Oh, really?
Posted by COOLEHMAGAZINE, Sun Mar-18-18 08:26 AM
You mean like this trade where the Falcons gave every pick in the world up for Julio Jones?

The Falcons sent the Browns a first-round pick (No. 27), a second-round pick (No. 59) and a fourth-round pick (No. 124) in 2011, and also chipped in the No. 1 pick in 2012 (No. 22) and their No. 4 pick in 2012 (No. 118).

Or maybe the Eagles Carson Went debacle?

To move from No. 8 to No. 2 overall last April, the Eagles offered up a first-, third- and a fourth-round pick in 2016, a first-round pick in '17 and a second-round pick in '18 in exchange for the rights to Wentz and a '17 fourth-rounder.

So, to your thinking, his grand pronouncement is "when you make big moves that don't work out it screws your team"??

I guess that might enlighten someone somewhere but that would be the most obvious and meaningless statement of all time. I was giving him a bit more credit than that.

I interpreted the overall statement as either "bad teams make lopsided trades in the draft and that's why they are bad" AND/OR "trading away boatloads of picks to get one guy is how you end up with a terrible team"

2647326, Yes, bad teams.

This is a tautology. A team who makes a big trade and benefits is not a bad team, but one that makes the same moves and they fail is a bad team?

What about the Chiefs trade for Mahomes last year?
2647375, Chiefs? They were 12-4 last year
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Mar-18-18 07:25 PM
Eagles weren’t a bad team. Just made a dumb decision to let a college coach gut the team for a college gimmick system.

Giants gamble worked but that was also the best QB draft class since 83.... and yes, at the time everyone was saying it was a great draft class for QB’s.

Where are you trying to go with this?

2647398, RE: Chiefs? They were 12-4 last year
Posted by COOLEHMAGAZINE, Sun Mar-18-18 08:58 PM
There is no real evidence to back up what you are saying.

I don't particularly love this trade but the idea that only bad teams risk their future by trading away a bunch of draft picks is false.
2647406, Teams with a good foundation can risk these types of trades
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Mar-18-18 10:09 PM
Who is the new Jets QB going to throw to? Who is he going to hand the ball off too?

It’s one thing when you have a decent roster and make moves but 3 picks to
move up 3 spots?

This is as bad as the Chicago move last year.

2647461, You need to give a little more context
Posted by smutsboy, Mon Mar-19-18 12:06 PM
It's not like they moved up from 19th to 16th to target a specific mid-round player.

They traded up to be able to draft an elite QB prospect.

Did they over pay? Probably.

But it was always going to be expensive to get into a slot where you can draft one of the big QBs this year.
2647555, first off, I'm not sure any of these QB's are worthy of this type of move
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Mar-20-18 11:45 AM
I can honestly say I think Lamar Jackson is the best QB in this draft but he will go last for obvious reasons.

What is the context tho?

moving from 6 to 3 isn't worthy of three 2nd round picks IMO.

2647629, having a shot at an elite QB prospect
Posted by smutsboy, Tue Mar-20-18 10:57 PM
vs not having a shot at an elite QB prospect

Is it worth 3 second round picks? Probably not.

Is it insane overpayment to jump the other teams who will draft a QB? Not really.

2647549, Jets gonna Jet. We can all rest assured whoever they pick will

I do agree with you that the team seems a bit rudderless from and admin and coaching standpoint, but we've painted ourselves into a corner and it will be kind of hard to dig out until Joe's contract is off our back (and we get better scouts, as they've all defected to Philly).

Posted by mista k5, Wed Aug-01-18 10:01 AM
i really liked how he played since the first preseason game i saw him in. had a great first year.

last year was a mess. problems with o-line, zeke suspension (they didnt handle it well), receivers dropping passes (dez for sure), dak making dumb decisions and bad passes.

to me it is unclear if the problem with dak is what was surrounding him or that he may not be a great player (or at least not yet).

im not convinced that the receivers they have now are good enough but he shouldnt need to be forcing anything anymore. if he is good/great it will show this year.
