the difference between 3rd and 9th is one bad week.
2645446, yup...and winding up with the 7th or 6th seed could be the difference
Posted by Cenario, Fri Mar-02-18 09:11 AM
between getting swept by GS/ROX or playing Portland in round 1 lol
2645450, i mean, look at this damn shit:
Posted by dula dibiasi, Fri Mar-02-18 09:29 AM
http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/westernstandings.html

no rhyme or reason whatsoever.

5 teams with a basically equal chance of finishing 5th. okc has better odds of missing the playoffs than finishing 3rd or 4th. portland with pretty even odds from 3rd thru 9th.

shit's wee todd edd.
2645599, wouldn't shock me at this point if it's minny.
Posted by dula dibiasi, Sat Mar-03-18 09:51 AM
without jimmy they're basically the same fucking lottery team they've been the last couple years.

KAT's alright but KAT's not real. good player but not at all an alpha.
2645603, fam, shit is hectic...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Mar-03-18 11:07 AM
Last night after we beat Phoenix, we sat at 6th. After Utah beat Minny, we moved to 5th. If we beat Portland tonight, we're 3rd. Shit is gonna be a heart attack every night.
2645627, if the Thunder miss altogether, while Harden wins MVP and Dubs the title

2645629, or, you could admit that you don't actually watch...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Mar-03-18 08:32 PM
the Thunder and you don't even have to wait for all that...because PG disagrees:

He's also having his best season of his career from three. He and Russ have developed great chemistry and play off each other really well.
2645634, I watch plenty. What’s PG gonna say? We’ll see where he is in October.

2645674, I'd like to see the Pels and Thunder miss, Clips and Jazz make it
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Mar-04-18 01:12 PM
Clips and Jazz have fought through a lot of injuries this year, had great coaching, etc.

The Thunder are a loathsome lot of paper champions and the Pelicans are boring to watch.
2645676, I can now confidently say "not the Nuggets!"
Posted by khn, Sun Mar-04-18 02:29 PM
I think.

And if we didn't let Boban the Giant fuck us up last Wednesday, I'd be saying it with even more swag.

that is some rough sledding.

And looking at that schedule, it's not evenly likely that Golden State, Houston, Toronto, or Boston are going to rest their players since they all are in play for top spots in their respective conferences.

To make matters somewhat worse, I wonder if Kawhi is going to return for the Spurs in time for that OKC match-up.

To make matters somewhat better for OKC, they would have to fall under .500 to completely miss the playoffs if my memory and math serves me right. I suppose that is possible if they lose the majority of the games you typed up, but I dunno if that's likely.
2646898, nah.

8th seed in the west is going to need at least 46 wins, more likely 47. assuming the finale vs memphis is a gimme, they're going to need to pull another 5 or 6 wins from that 11, and that's just to qualify.

if i was a thunder or spurs fan i'd be at least a little worried right now.

nice one, here. Corey Brewer has fit in marvelously!! High scorer for the team. Dude is always moving and the ball finds him. Been banging the corner 3. He's not Dre on defense, but he has been really good. 6 steals, himself, tonight. Russ with his 4th straight triple-double. Adams with 18pts, 14reb, 6 blocks and 3 steals. 17 steals for the team. Sitting in 4th place. At Toronto Sunday. #thunderup

2647660, yeah i wanted to see the nuggs in too...

but it ain't happening.

7 of their 11 remaining games are on the road, and the 4 home games are all against playoff teams (mil, ind, min, pdx)

remaining opponent win % is 2nd highest in the L behind okc.

it's a wrap. the millsap injury killed them.
2647672, Millsap was in the game vs. Memphis
Posted by khn, Wed Mar-21-18 01:00 PM
You know, the worst team in the league that was sporting a 19-game losing streak.

That we fuckin LOST to whilst starting off the most important stretch of our year.

So many bad losses, man. So many. And last year's stretch run went the exact same way.

Millsap or no, we're just some bullshit. After Malone gets fired, we'll find out how much of it is him.

Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Fri Apr-06-18 12:01 PM
And either the Spurs or Thunder get the fuck up outta here. Preferably the Spurs.

But assuming the Spurs miss, they'll win the lottery get DeAndre Ayton. Pop coaches for 10 more years. Kawhi says, "I was just playing." Pop invites DeAndre to the Virgin Islands to spend the summer with Tim and talk about basketball and life. They win 4 titles in the next 10 years.

Boom.
2649565, My dream remains to have a Duke player on the Spurs.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Apr-06-18 12:31 PM
They're currently projected to pick around, what, 20?

GARY TRENT TIME BABY COME ON POP LET'S DO THIS

They'll probably pick too high to choose Grayson Allen-- I'll have to sit back and hope the Celtics or the Warriors take Allen for EXTREME COMEDY GOLD/MAD-MAKING SYNERGY.

2649903, This sh*t cray man! Check this out:

West W L
POR* (3) 48-32
UTA (4) 47-33
NOP (5) 46-34
SAS (6) 46-34
OKC (7) 46-34
MIN (8) 45-35
DEN (9) 45-35

Remaining games:
Por - @Nuggets, Jazz
Utah - Warriors, @Blazers
SAS - Kings, @Pelicans
OKC - @Heat, Griz
NOP - @Clippers, Spurs
Min - Griz, Nuggets
Den - Blazers, @Wolves

Portland, currently 3 could lose out as the Nuggets need to win to get in and the Jazz will be fighting to steal the 3rd seed (the f*cking JAZZ!)

Utah should be able to beat the Warriors tomorrow who I believe will be resting players to get right for the post season. That leaves them with winning vs the Blazers to get the 3 seed (and they lead the season series with Portland, 2-1).

Spurs 'should' handle the kings which will secure their playoff spot as they hold the tie breaker with Minny (split the season with Den, so second tie breaker would kick in...division record). But if they slip to the kings, they are in trouble. Pels need that last game to not end up on the outside as they lose the tiebreaker to Denver. They still might be looking at a 7 or 8 seed with the split though.

Pelicans should beat the Clippers but that's not a gimme game. And they HAVE to beat the spurs. It's in their best interest to win both games as 2 L's would place them squarely outside the playoffs.

The Thunder only win a tie breaker with the Jazz (they split with the spurs) but they literally lost the season series to everyone else. They literally have to win out to not miss the playoffs. A tie with anyone but Utah could mean lottery for them. Saving grace is Heat are only jockeying for position which isn't AS important as playing for a spot so they may not go as hard. Griz should be a cakewalk.

Wolves won the season series with everyone but the Spurs and tied with Utah. None of the teams above them can really slip or Minny moves up. If everyone above them does well except the spurs and minny slips, they are out (so, Spurs lose out, Minny Splits, Den wins out...Wolves miss the playoffs...IF everyone else splits).

Nuggets are unfortunately in the worst spot. Outside looking in, lost season series to the team closest to them and playing two squads who HAVE to win. Portland can lose homecourt and fall to #6 (but no lower) with 2 losses. Wolves will need the game to make it in, especially if they slip to the Griz, and will need it for good seeding.

Next 3 days will be awesomely nuts!

2649909, nah, fambo...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Apr-09-18 09:48 AM
we win tonight or Wednesday and we're in. There's even a scenario where we could lose both and still get in...even crazier, there is a scenario where we could still get the 4th seed. But, yeah...we just need to win one of the last two.
2649924, RE: nah, fambo...
Posted by auragin_boi, Mon Apr-09-18 10:40 AM
Yeah you right. Didn't factor in that Minny/Den game means one of them can't get to 47 wins.

They lose both games though (46-36), Den split (46-36), Min split (46-36) and they out. They lose the tie breaker to both teams.

And yeah, there's a scenario where they can lose both and still make it (Den or Minny losing both games).

But anybody 5-9 could miss the playoffs. It's crazy.

2649926, if we can't beat the tanking Grizzlies at home with the playoffs...

Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Apr-11-18 07:54 AM
I'm all in with O_E and Basa on Thibs and Wiggins.

IJS...at home, one game, winner goes to the 'offs, loser goes home.

If you can't get up for this and meet your potential, I dunno what to tell you.

Jimmy ain't 100% but he playing so he gotta be at around 85-90%. That's enough.

Den wins and I think Joker gets elevated even more to me.

And think, either of these teams could win the lotto this yr/get a top 3 pick. SMH
2650179, wait, you need a loss to understand wiggins ain't that good?

Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Apr-11-18 12:11 PM
We needed some time to see him grow. Potential was/is there but what he does with it, how he develops is all him.

He hasn't become what he 'could' have become. Personally, I think his ego is bruised because he thought this was his team and they brought in 2 guys with more talent than him.

Personally though, I think if he worked as hard as Jimmy, he'd be better than him. I don't think Wiggins does.
2650176, looks like we are on a collision course with Utah...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Apr-11-18 08:32 AM
