How great would it have been to see Bron & Carmelo in the dunk contest?

Nobody said that with Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon, who aren't exactly starts. Jason Richardson vs. Desmond Mason was one of the best dunk contests I've seen

And Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard won (and in D-12's case, lost to Nate Robinson), and people still complained.

I get that it's not exactly Mike vs. Nique (and nobody remembers some of those other contestants), or Vince, T-Mac, Steve Francis, etc., but as long as the dunks look hot (in this years case I thought it was very good, although not as good as last years), then the dunk contest is cool.

Problem I have is either people whine about the stars, or more importantly, people change the rules every year. Leave the rules the same (instead of having them get a routine or some dumb shit), and let these cats go to work

So I think it's more the live presentation that's a problem. Also a couple dunks that were impressive needed a replay for you to see how impressive they actually were so the delayed reaction kinda killed the momentum. Only part that was truly underwhelming was the Black Panther dunk.

And I'll acknowledge this as a legitimate complaint. The difference is that the best players in the L used to also be its greatest dunkers; who would you even want in this who isn't there? Russ? He's the only top 20 guy who'd make sense, and he probably couldn't do that shit that DSJ did.

Format problems exist for me (we should reward first attempts much, much more, and move the competition along as well), but nah, I'm not with just adding some names and that solving things. The time John Wall "won" was honestly the worst contest I can ever remember, and he was already a top 20 stud at that point.

in the past was seeing the reactions from the other All-Star players in attendance. Now most them don’t even show up and they have to try to manufacture excitement by bringing out people like Mark Walberg and DJ Khaled lol

it was edited tho so I have no idea how many missed attempts there were. That's usually what screws up the flow of the contest.
