psyche. but seriously, let's talk about our shining Yakubian prince who, when he was a rookie, i predicted would be teaching high-school math in twelve months. only at the intersection of "peak bro" and "peak Process" could you find anyone who thought TJ McConnell would become one of the 30 best point guards in the world, yet here we are.

he's the only bench guy we have worth a damn. he finishes more games than not. he's gotten legitimately tricky finishing around the rim. he's another offseason away from being money on open 3s. all that, and he does all the good stereotypical scrappy white guy things (busts his ass, fires up the crowd, has a scraggly beard). i know 95 percent of nba players work their ass off to develop their game, but TJ is such a clear example of a guy who wouldn't have stuck without that work, and he's going to have a career because he did it.

and now he has a triple double. thank the knickerbockers.
2643266, he's a sold backup pg but lets not get carried away...

I see him eventually being a head coach. I figure after Brett Brown is fired, they'll probably bring Mike Brown in to teach them how to play and make them an actual contender, then they will fire him and hire McConnell to take them to the promise land.
2643279, starting PGs TJ is better than

Same as Dunn, Smith, Lonzo, and Fultz. I know it’s hard for you college dudes to understand, but rookies are really, really, really bad nba players.

Would I bet that TJ is better than any of them in 12 months? Fuck no. They’re all going to be a lot better than TJ.

But “going to be” is different than “is.”
2643563, this is a Trump MAGA era post...

2643282, I've always believed in him. He was a Survivor staple for me.

Drafted him in Survivor his rookie year. I know it's a cliche to label any scrappy white player as "high IQ," but ever since I saw him play at Duquesne, and especially after his Arizona days, I thought he had a sneaky shot to either stick around the pros off the bench or have an absolutely elite Euro career. Strong at creating for others, strong outside shooter, good rebounder for a guard, surprisingly good in traffic, first to a loose ball. Was never bad at anything except defense, but ever since Dellavedova, I don't doubt scrappy dudes' ability to pick up enough defense to have a shot if they can do the offensive stuff.

The fact that he landed in Philly during the Process was an absolutely *perfect* spot for him too. Allowed him to get a chance without having competition from more athletic/longer options and lend a steadier hand than some of the less-polished-but-higher-ceiling wings and bigs around him could at the time. Now he's gone through the adjustment phase all college PGs go through and he's come out the other end. He could stick around til he's 30 doing what he's doing now.
2643414, Sixers/flyers 8-0 since big dick Nick rubbed his nuts on The Shield

Both the Flyers and Sixers are streaky AF but I think the Sixers might actually be getting it together. The Flyers probably not especially with Elliott out. They need a veteran defenseman to hold things together badly and I doubt the right guy will be there at the deadline.

The Sixers have impressed me lately though. They still blow leads but they fend the other team off before they close the gap. Defense is more consistent. Offense is less flummoxed. They still need Embiid on the floor to prosper but the difference is *as* drastic as it was.
2643583, that moment when he got the rebound was awesome

TJ is the physical manifestation of YT basketball player stereotypes

Hustle
Grit
Deceptively Athletic
Gym Rat
High Basketball IQ
Coach's Son

2655287, except he can't really shoot

he's actually a white broken-jumper markelle fultz.

Now that's irony.
