i said this would happen. i called the improvement. i said he'd be ahead of the same pace set by giannis and y'all poplocked about dude's potential for THREE YEARS until he popped last season.

and this is AFTER he retooled his jumper over summer with a higher, quicker release.

i need to know before he absolutely explodes next season and y'all start sending friend requests...

do you believe any of that dumb shyt you been saying about him?

are you hating because of me? are you that mad?

i need to know.

because here's the thing: he better than kyrie. this gon be WORSE than that. and kyrie is the greatest start to finish agenda in this board's history, whether y'all admit it or not. BI gon be the best player on earth at some point. watch.

2637453, the pic you linked is misleading because BI has basically been given...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jan-12-18 11:05 AM
the green light on a lottery team from day one, while most of those other guys went later in the draft and were role players on playoff teams in their 2nd year and had to earn their minutes and shots.

Nobody has ever questioned Ingram's talent or ability he just has to learn how to bring it every night.

Certain fans of OSU and Kentucky players have been in their feelings when I've criticized their guys but none of that shit matters to me. Clarkson went to Mizzou and I've been hard on him.

Not that we needed another BI post

The comparison coming out of college was most definitely KD...and he's still not doing KD's rookie numbers LOL

Most everybody, including myself, think he has the potential to be a good player

Rational does equal hate

Superstar, Laker great, etc...I don't see it

We're still talking about trajectories and potential, while rookies are moving into leadership roles on the LAL, speaks louder than troll posts

2637475, Nope - like you, I also thought it was pretty clear he’d be great
Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Jan-12-18 12:28 PM
The staff has asked him to do a lot from day 1 (on and off ball responsibility, challenged him defensively, balance being a play-maker and scorer) and with that comes a learning curve. From day 1 - he has anticipated and seen the game extremely well, gotten great looks, been willing to take cintact and worked extremely hard off the court.

Now as he’s worked on the jumper to set it higher and make It a 1-motion release while continuing to develop physically...his confidence has sky-rocketed and he continues to add to every single part of his game. In the last week, he’s already adjusted to team’s crowding the paint on him and he’s taking more pull-ups off the PnR and more 3’s...to the tune of a 60% TS.

The kid has every tool to be great and he’s on his way. The mental midget prisoner of the moment cats will have their lack of understanding exposed - yet again

2642311, Confluence of factors.
Posted by wallysmith, Wed Feb-07-18 06:15 PM
Randle has been starting, which is where he should have been all season. Hart's poise extrapolating extremely well into extended minutes. Ingram settling into that "second year lottery pick" jump that people expected from him this year. Addition by subtraction: no more Bogut, Ennis is no longer starting (or playing), Brewer barely plays. Lopez's 3-ball is falling in now, and he and Randle are coexisting well in the post. Clarkson and Nance comfortably filling in where needed.

Kuzma is hitting his rookie wall but Hart's filling in admirably.

Lotta things coming together right now, helps deal with Lonzo's absence. Best lineup would probably be Lopez/Randle/Ingram/Hart/Ball starting and only going 4 deep on the bench (Nance/Clarkson/Kuzma/KCP). Unfortunately I don't foresee KCP hitting the bench, even though Ingram/Hart/Ball would be extremely interesting with Ingram as the point forward.
2642315, playing Lonzo off the ball seems like a waste
Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Feb-07-18 06:27 PM
not that hes better at running the offense than Ingram is, but Ingram is WAYYYYYYY better off the ball than Lonzo is.

and they need to figure that power forward shit out. Nance is *smoking* the rest of the team in ws/48 and somehow actually leads in total WS despite playing 20 mpg.
2642318, Agreed
Posted by LA2Philly, Wed Feb-07-18 07:34 PM
Zo has better recognition (he's basically 99th percentile in that regard) which means he moves the ball much quicker plus he has quickly learned how to attack PnR effectively.

BI is extremely good at attacking close-outs with his first step and he was just finding his rhythm spotting up for 3 when Zo got hurt.
2642773, Well, I think that's the thing....
Posted by wallysmith, Fri Feb-09-18 10:18 AM
Neither player has the mindset to be "The Guy" when it comes to initiating the offense and both are great at reading defenses. There doesn't have to be a clear delineation on who's playing off-ball and who's not. Develop offensive sets for both then read and react on the fly.
2642317, yup. and if you adjust that chart in OP to be age instead of NBA year

2644863, So Ingram who's specialty is scoring...is only scoring as much as Ben
Posted by mtbatol, Tue Feb-27-18 08:36 AM
And that's about all he can do. WITH a 1 year head start on Ben.

Ben makes impact across other facets of the game & plays D on all defensive level.

You REALLY sure you want to do this?
2644866, just because he projects to be a far better scorer than simmons
Posted by Basaglia, Tue Feb-27-18 08:51 AM
that don't mean that's the only thing he has over been. again, all ben has is a ready-made NBA body over BI.

But, nobody cares about scoring off of layups & dunks, even if they account for just as much as what your alum bro BI does WITH additional range + year playing against competition?

Same dude that worked with Oladipo going into last year worked with Ingram this year (Micah Lancaster).

Either way though, tangible difference in demeanor from Ingram so far this preseason. His assertiveness is catching up to his talent and IQ, and I foresee a lot of fill-in-the-blank statlines this year, whatever the team needed that game to win.

I think this team is gonna be better than expected this year, my biggest regret so far is not hitting the sportsbook when I was in Vegas after the O/U was set at 48 wins. The team with Lebron and Ingram (as long as he plays 70+ games) is a 50 win team, easy.

I think he’s got All Star potential. 2nd best player on the Lakers. He can get into that Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Derozen perennial all star territory over the next few years IMO.
