2636574, These AFC games are so bad
Posted by Y2Flound, Sat Jan-06-18 05:06 PM
Not that the games themselves can't be good and obviously the stories of 3 teams making the playoffs you rarely see in the playoffs make good talking points.

But this has to be the worst batch of 3-6 seeds in memory
2636575, Maybe this will still convince the Titans to get a new coach
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Jan-06-18 05:13 PM
2636579, Maybe if we get blown the fuck out they'll cut the Mularkey
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Jan-06-18 05:35 PM
And we can actually move forward
2636580, WTF was that call? forward progress?
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Sat Jan-06-18 05:52 PM
that might be one of the most nonsensical explanations of a call I've ever heard.

Posted by will_5198, Sat Jan-06-18 06:49 PM
I hate when everybody tries to do too much in the playoffs
2636588, that was a horrible two-point conversion play.
Posted by will_5198, Sat Jan-06-18 07:02 PM
season on the line and that's the best two-pointer Mularkey could think up over 18 weeks?
2636591, another horrible one.

2636614, going for two in a reasonably close game any time
Posted by smutsboy, Sat Jan-06-18 08:16 PM
before the final 5 minutes is fucking stupid.

Until you're down to the last 2-3 possessions, you have no idea how the game is going to play out.

Posted by Ray_Snill, Sun Jan-07-18 01:07 AM
I wish Shanahan woulda waited a year before bailing. man, imagine last year's offense with this year's defense. we just held the number one offense to 13 points at home outside on a crap field. wow

2636637, nope not much faith in foles.
Posted by Reeq, Sun Jan-07-18 01:36 AM
>boy, anyone buying Foles in a big spot?

i saw a philly sports site tryna drum up fan confidence in his chances of performing well with shit like 'two full weeks of intense practices should help a lot' lol.

then they said he could draw on his playoff experience from a loss 5 years ago lol.

god help him if they get down early and he has to air it out.
2636643, because of Foles, I'm like... 'Don't fuck it up this year, Atlanta'
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Jan-07-18 08:16 AM
if the Eagles lose, that better be Nick Foles's final game as an Eagle.
We've seen that story.

only thing I care about this season w/o Wentz is that the Cheatriots don't win. Any other team can win, there's no NFC East team besides the Eagles here.
2636655, it's not looking good Doc
Posted by smutsboy, Sun Jan-07-18 10:51 AM

2636672, Bills/Jags is not the playoff game im looking for...

2636674, They should just cancel these games and let Patriots and Steelers play
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-07-18 01:56 PM

what gave Buffalo the impression they were going to put together a scoring drive from their own 10 with less than a minute left?

had they ran it, Jacksonville would've gotten the ball back but without the timeouts to set up that field goal.

gave them 3 free points, basically...
2636691, Not to mention throwing on first and goal from the 1
Posted by DJR, Sun Jan-07-18 03:05 PM
You’ve got McCoy, Taylor can sneak, and Jacksonville wasn’t spying Taylor so you can get him outside too. Should’ve been 7-0 Bills at half. They botched all of that.
2636717, could've been headed to OT at 7-7.
Posted by will_5198, Sun Jan-07-18 04:17 PM
that end-zone sequence and the freebie field goal were the difference. Belichick is right -- when it gets tight, most times you just have to wait for the other team to hang itself.

As said above, that initial TD drop to missed FG was the difference and ZERO fault of Cam, who was mostly like concussed on his last TD throw. BUt the NFL cares about players.
2636853, don't forget the PERFECT TD pass Cam threw to Kalen Clay...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Jan-08-18 12:12 PM

Giving him weapons like Devin Funchess (who'd make a good 4th WR) and Jonathan Stewart, a guy 4 years past his prime.

Imagine if Cam's weapons were half as good as Matt Ryan's.

Moon had good weapons around him but you cannot compare them to guys like Moss, T.O., Chris Carter, etc

Moon was an elite player with an great offensive line, above average running backs and a mix of good-to-very good receivers.

The only HOF or even player-of-decade worthy guys on those offenses were Moon and some of his blockers.

I cannot fucking stand Cam Newton but he has had weapons before. And they have made every effort to give him more. They can't find any 7 foot Sudanese receivers yet tho to catch the arm punts he puts in the stands in between his good throws (and he DOES make some incredible throws but so did Jay Cutler, and he gets fried).

They tried though, that's why they ran Steve Smith out of town WITH CAMS BLESSING and started drafting slow-footed basketball players at wideout. Benjamin and Funchess were high picks.

He has consistently had a great receiving tight end in Greg Olsen, who the dumbass Bears traded in his prime to Carolina for a bag of dildos. Cutler got to work with Hester and Johnny Knox, and he got fried.

They got him Ted Ginn, then got rid of him. Then people crying about Ginn eating Panthers lunch in playoffs. I'm laughing!

Now they tried to add a bunch of speed using precious capital on McCaffrey and Curtis Samuel last year. Everyone applauded this at the time.

>calling QB runs late in a game where he can barely get off

He says he wants to keep running designed runs.

Not surprising, he seems like a dummy.

>

Wow…I'm on record from before he got drafted saying I thought Funchess was a glorified tight end but 4th wide receiver? LOL you doing a lot here. Funchess is exactly what he was advertised as, and what they thought Cam needed; Catch radius and physicality.

and Jonathan Stewart, a guy 4 years past his prime.
>

Stewart aint the problem. He is not even the starting running back. And they have Whitaker and Tolbert. They got every type of back you could want. It's RB by committee by design. It's either that, or get Zeke Elliott. Like most teams, they don't have Zeke. Their running back room is relatively strong compared to rest of the league. A swiss army knife in McCaffrey, two veteran power backs in Tolbert and Stewart, a solid do-it-all guy in Whitaker.

>Imagine if Cam's weapons were half as good as Matt Ryan's.

Who made them trade Benjamin? Face it, they put every type of player around Cam and he still can't consistently make it happen. He overrated.

That is false. They HAVE TRIED to put Cam with every type of player they could get on offense with the type of picks they had. Lots of teams have drafted much, much worst on offense over the timespan we are discussing.

copy paste the above

>it dont matter how high they got picked. if they suck they
>suck.

It matters if your argument was that the organization has not tried to put weapons around him.

Here is an example; I roast the Seahawks for not prioritizing their offensive line. They have not drafted linemen high, they have consistently tried to coach up "athletes" including a college defensive linemen. They traded an important cog. There is evidence of disinvestment. If they had drafted some guys high that fit into some philosophically-sound "plan", and they busted, I wouldn't say they didn't TRY, I would say they FAILED.

>
>tolbert. old as fuck. he a bum now.
>stewart. old as fuck. he a bum now.

Seems harsh. He got 3.6 a carry and 6 TDs as a rotational rusher. That is decent. McCaffrey was only getting 3.7, is he a bum too?

>
>ginn, as likely to drop a TD as he is to catch one.

Well, he helped send em home so there is that. Either way you look at it, he was a weapon that they put around Cam. A flawed weapon, but a proven gamebreaker who just proved it by breaking the game open against them. What more is there to say?

You think Cam made them trade Benjamin? Cam had nothing but praise for Benjamin the week before when he caught the game winner or sealed the game with a late catch. I think that was another WTF move by the GM but it's actually a good move in the long run. They need speed.

sadly "we tried and failed" doesn't make for a good #1 WR.

Steve Smith from the age of 32 to 34.
Greg Olsen.
One year of McCaffrey.

That's it.

He came back in, attempted to play and couldn't plant his leg and coaches pulled him. His injury was later conclusively shown to be one that you CANNOT play on. Why, why, why does this ridiculous idea persist. I mean, just google any of the medical reports.

No one who actually watched Cutler play for the Bears and saw the beating he took, week-in and week out, would be able to even imagine he just decided not to play in the biggest game of his life. Just didn't care! But then plays with cracked ribs when we are running out the string of 4-12 seasons where he is taking more sacks than anyone else in the league?

Makes total sense.

Whatever his myriad flaws, Jay Cutler was not a quitter. He was tough as hell.

Also, none of this negates the fact that they went and got him FOR Cam Newton. Everything about this offense has been built with Cam in mind, albeit by two different GMs.

He is overrated. His accuracy comes and goes (he can throw a laser and then miss a barn door on consecutive plays}, his ability to read the defense is nothing amazing, and he stays throwing the ball high so you gotta draft slow giraffe ass players. And the way he insists on playing, he is probably going to end up breaking down physically sooner than later.

and Samuel was ass THIS year. There are plenty of rookie WR’s who didn’t deliver this year. I think at one point JuJu Schuster for the Steeler had more yards than all the 1st Rd WRs combined.

Samuel was injured but he also struggled learning the route tree. Not shocking but still made it more difficult to get him involved like they wanted this year.

Ginn was a beast for the Panthers but Cam isn’t the GM. Remember, they fired him right before the season started and one of the reasons is his terrible communication skills and rigid style.

I think most people’s point in here is when Can has speed at WR he tends to have pretty impressive seasons. Losing Olson, Benjamin being slow as hell and coming in overweight ever off season was a problem.

McCaffrey was fine as a WR option out of the backfield.

They came close to beating NO and they surely didn’t lose because of Cams play in that game.

Like I said earlier, it’s ok to hate but don’t let it close us your judgement of Can
