2634415, To add to this chain of "Sapp is garbage" comments... Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Dec-18-17 10:21 PM
... I hooped out here with a guy from NFL Network who liked most everyone there but said that *everyone* hated Sapp. He'd tell stories about Sapp being dicks to people and everyone just sitting quietly wanting Sapp to shut the fuck up. He was tight with the higher-ups and a vindictive son of a bitch, so no one wanted to speak up-- but when he and NFL Network were no more, my guy said there were literal parties about his departure.

But he (a) continue to bitch about being taped before SB36 which was proven to be an outright lie (shut up about it man, you, specifically, got your ass beat up in that game talk about that ?) and (b) he's spent basically his whole TV career trying to discredit ALL of their success based on that, which is just disingenuous at best.
So yea - fuck him. Haha.

at a bar/club or other places in the form of a flirtatious or risque' comment, the more success you have to more aggressive you are going to be with it.
Most of us that work in professional work environments usually learn early on what you should and shouldn't do there. Either somebody's going to pull you to the side or you're going to see Bob from the mail room getting walked out for sending the secretary dirty jokes and be like "Oh ok I better chill."
For most pro athletes the only work environment they have known is the locker room where anything goes. When they're off the field outside of family most of the women they come in contact with are groupies who are trying everything to get with them in the first place. Its a different world.

Basic human conditioning - if you aren't penalized for doing something that brings you benefit, then you're very likely going to keep doing it. No risk, all reward.
|

to act out their urges in a particular way, and to demonstrate power.
but those are all the ingredients, and as we've seen in areas where the power is reversed (teachers) everyone goes for theirs.

2633788, maybe a byproduct is we can stop seeing former players in media? Posted by will_5198, Tue Dec-12-17 09:15 PM
the representative majority of on-air former players/coaches is a clown show. it's really quite amazing that so many people who were part of the game at the highest level talk in the most banal terms possible.
hot take syndrome, coach-speak platitudes, and a bunch of lame jokes about "back in the day when I was on the field...". they are by and large terrible analysts.

Look presentable, memorize all the cliches, hype a guy that no one else is hyping, occasionally call an active player to the carpet... I guess it's enough for the average fan who is a couple beers in.
Truthfully I'm happy to see the former athletes get these jobs, so I'm conflicted.

2633946, Imagine if Dr. J got put out there today: Posted by Castro, Wed Dec-13-17 09:45 PM
Julius Erving wouldn’t have fathered tennis player Alexandra Stevenson, 32, if her mother hadn’t gotten braces on her teeth, the Hall of Fame basketball player writes in his new autobiography, “Dr. J.”
“She becomes someone who helps me unwind if I’m feeling high-strung or stressed. I can drive over and spend a relaxing evening that might even include oral sex,” Erving writes. “I can only remember one time that we actually had intercourse, and that was because she had just gotten this new orthodontia to straighten her teeth. With wire and gleaming metal bristling in her mouth, oral sex was not an option.”
But Erving, known for his Dante de Blasio-like Afro and his thunderous dunks, felt terrible in 1999 when his and Samantha’s out-of-wedlock daughter — playing in the semifinals at Wimbledon — was caught in a media firestorm over her famous father.
