Hi guys.

Hotel coffee really isn't that bad. I mean, the stuff in
those shitty little machines.

2629820, oh yeah, this totally shames AI's legacy & all who rooted for him
Posted by mtbatol, Fri Nov-10-17 07:06 PM
u sure showed us. feelings hurt reel bad
2629822, should be top 20 all time by the end of the year
Posted by DJR, Fri Nov-10-17 07:15 PM
2629883, In 74 more games. Still won all of three playoff series in like 15 years.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Nov-11-17 01:58 PM
2629920, in 1800+ fewer minutes. and made it out of 2nd round as many times as AI
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Sat Nov-11-17 10:32 PM
2629921, On 700 fewer shots
Posted by DJR, Sat Nov-11-17 10:38 PM
I don’t even shit on Iverson. I watched him play live once in his soph year at Georgetown and Cuse won by 20 so I got nothing against him, he didn’t cause me no problems. Gotta lot of respect for him, actually and I even rooted for him and Philly for a bit(because late career Coleman had a brief resurgence there). Fun and unique player to watch.

But any Carmelo slander will be swiftly shot down, even if it is in response to a classic OE shit breath bait post.

2630048, yes, we know he's soft around the middle and can't play the minutes
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Nov-13-17 01:49 PM
never made the finals, so there's that.

the part of his career where he has a chance to be AI or better is already over. it didn't happen for him. no shame in that, i guess.
2630145, Sit this one out, or go post in Turkey, like AI.
Posted by Orbit_Established, Tue Nov-14-17 08:12 AM

2630344, he's actually 4th among active players in min/gm + led the NBA in 2014
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Wed Nov-15-17 03:28 PM
we know you lead the league in mad/gm though.

and AI was a jet-lagged Vince jumper from never making the conference finals, so there's that.

He was unable to surpass the legendary Finals legacy of Latrell Sprewell before his career faded into Bolivian. it didn't happen for him.

This happened for him though: http://media.philly.com/images/110810-iverson-400.jpg
2630348, Jet-lagged Vince, nice reach of a plea cop
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Nov-15-17 03:56 PM
And the fact that he plays big minutes and AI still played bigger speaks to AI's motor, which few guys had (ironically Spree was one of them in his prime, incredibly energetic).

You can harp on the meaningless years of a guy's career--the ones AI didn't play, the ones Melo will play in uninteresting fashion--but one guy's jacket is gold, first ballot. The other guy is watching his former team be on some addition-by-subtraction shit and underachieving.
2630360, Just facts. VC hits that shot & AI never even reaches a Conference Final
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Wed Nov-15-17 05:41 PM
let alone the NBA Finals. but he didn't make the shot, so true, it doesn't take away from Iverson reaching the lofty heights of Sprewell's Finals legacy. Truly the stuff of legend.

>ones AI didn't play, the ones Melo will play in uninteresting
>fashion

certainly not as interesting as this fashion AI played in: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/photo/images/attachement/jpg/site1/20101110/0013729e4ad90e4435070f.jpg

>--but one guy's jacket is gold, first ballot. The other

you mean Alex English? (i.e., Melo minus the NCAA championship and Olympic gold medals)

>guy is watching his former team be on some
>addition-by-subtraction shit and underachieving.

2630362, I swear I'm not in yall's debate, but...

I watched a dope show Monday on NBA Tv. It's basically Steve Smith interviewing players for an hour. That one was Vince Carter. He talked about his decision to attend the graduation then come back and play. He said he went to each player individually and asked did they have a problem with him going. Every one of them said no...go do it, you should do it. Then after the series was over...reports came out that players were angry and thought it was selfish for him to not go through his normal game-day routine. He said it really kinda hurt the team, cuz he was pissed and felt betrayed. Ok...that's all I got.
2630364, They got an all-star point guard, healthy Nene back, JR Smith more tick
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Nov-15-17 07:29 PM
what did the Knicks get for Melo?

interesting that you're caping for this guy after he left town and the team did fuck nothing while he was there.

alex english is not exactly on the cover of the program at the HOF induction.
2630563, they upgraded at guard, that's for sure
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Thu Nov-16-17 06:37 PM
>interesting that you're caping for this guy after he left town
>and the team did fuck nothing while he was there.

been a fan since cuse. what's interesting is that you're still taking shots after he left the Knicks. seems oddly personal for you.

>alex english is not exactly on the cover of the program at the
>HOF induction.

his jacket is gold, first ballot.
2630650, for some reason i thought he waited a year but it's irrelevant
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Nov-17-17 11:37 AM
AI is already first ballot. Best thing Melo can do is equal that. Meanwhile he will never have won as many playoff series/games or as many scoring titles.

As far as Anthony goes, like CWebb I was actually a huge fan initially. It's disappointing to me to see someone with so much talent not get the most out of it. With Webber, injuries were a factor and also he was just left completely unchecked early in his career (of course he was a petulant asshole that rejected any and all forms of guidance). With Anthony, I didn't see that as much, he grew as an individual player but still never rounded out his game or became a top-five guy like he could have been. It's more disappointment than hate, but then you have people saying flowery things about him like he didn't underachieve. As good as his career has been, it could have been a lot better.

You could make the same argument for Iverson and another one of my favorites, Charles Barkley, but the freak worker like Kobe or KD, eh, that just isn't who those guys were.
2630361, An OE Melo vs Iverson post? Christmas has come early.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-15-17 05:51 PM
*pops seasonal white chocolate and peppermint bark popcorn*
2630482, Philly has LeBen and Process... they'll be OK
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Nov-16-17 11:30 AM
2630491, eggzacklee and we should had the only thing the Knicks have
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Nov-16-17 11:51 AM

2630495, i can't imagine if ya'll did smh.

2630510, 2nd time in a week I'm hearing his name referenced
Posted by bentagain, Thu Nov-16-17 01:21 PM
"In team history, Embiid became the first to score 40 points since Allen Iverson dropped 45 in 2006."

so irrelevant. LOL
2630519, that quote just shows how irrelevant 6ers were for the last 10 years
Posted by Cenario, Thu Nov-16-17 02:20 PM
2630521, I mean we have had two all-stars since then but do you
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Nov-16-17 02:37 PM
They werent HOF level guys but both Jrue and Iggy were in the ASG and played rookie seasons for us. Not too many other rookies in franchise history have dropped 40, probably like Charles and Hal Greer are the only ones other than these two. Maybe some fluke guys. This won't be the last one for Embiid and Iverson had several as a rookie (including five in a row).
2630524, compared to how successful the NYK have been since...
Posted by bentagain, Thu Nov-16-17 02:51 PM
...since...

?

98'

?

@CC, Embiid is not a rookie, stop. You're not helping

LOL
2630532, oh we been irrelevant...i aint denying it
Posted by Cenario, Thu Nov-16-17 04:05 PM
you wanna talk about the 6ers now or nah?
2630552, i thought he had 40 last year in a game but i guess not
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Nov-16-17 05:56 PM
looks like 33 was his high
2630553, he good man, i ain't got no problems with Embiid. I wanna see him
Posted by Cenario, Thu Nov-16-17 05:58 PM
have a healthy and prosperous career.
2630651, similarly i'd like to see porzingis be all he can be
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Nov-17-17 11:39 AM
sky is the limit for him, hopefully he can be a dirk-like figure for his generation.
