2628513, GSP or Bisping
Posted by PG, Wed Dec-31-69 07:00 PM
I've fallen out of following or watching the UFC for a while now but I have been a longtime fan of George... I'm hoping for and expecting a dominant performance from him but there are definitely reasons to have doubts and reservations about it going down like that.. what're you thinking?

Poll question: GSP or Bisping

2628519, Bisping has been ridiculously consistent
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Thu Nov-02-17 05:51 PM
I don't see GSP coming out of nowhere and winning this

pains me to say it but i think Bisping got this
2628520, you could be right

the size, the whole coming out of retirement vs. being quite active aspect.. George has traditionally been very consistent and a consummate professional himself though so I don't imagine him coming in soft or not ready.. and historically George is an A fighter where I'd put Bisping at a B+... but there are certainly a lot of factors that give Bisping an edged on paper right now.
2628553, 4 years is forever in UFC years too
Posted by GOMEZ, Thu Nov-02-17 11:47 PM
I don’t see how GsP is gonna walk back in and compete at that level after that much time off. It’s virtually unheard of.
2628618, and bisping is gauranteed able to go 5 rounds
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Fri Nov-03-17 03:17 PM
and not lose a step

i dont like bisping at all, his personality or his style but he is good at what he does
2628522, GSP via wrestle fuck decision
Posted by RobOne4, Thu Nov-02-17 06:05 PM
GSP's wrestling is so fucking good. If he gets hit and doesnt like it he can always go back to that and wrestle fuck him to death
2628523, Bisping, and this entire card is going to be great.

Gsp vs Bisping is kind of a weird fight to me. It’s a fight no one needed or called for but I’m excited for almost every other fight on the card.

Robert Whitaker is recovering from his knee injury and as much as I'd like to see Luke Rockhold knock Bisping into orbit, I don't think he's deserving of a title shot after his last win. I agree that this GSP Bisping fight doesn't make much sense, but it the fight all three parties want (GSP, Bisping, and the UFC), so it's hard to stop that momentum.

I have a feeling the PPV numbers are going to be staggeringly low because I don't feel much buzz for this card. Perhaps that's just me though, I dunno. I think that Magreggor-Mayweather event sucked a ton of momentum this card could have had on its own.
2628619, I hadn't actually looked at it, you're right
Posted by Rjcc, Fri Nov-03-17 03:43 PM
it's not a bad card at all, really one of the better ones they've had recently.

2628587, GSP, but the fight is Garbrandt v Dillashaw
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Nov-03-17 09:56 AM
GSP will go for the take down early and not look especially impressive. I like Bisping and he’s a good story, but he’s too one dimensional. All things being equal Georges is a far better fighter, the reason this is deemed a fair fight is because of the layoff. Call me naive but I don’t think GSP, a true all timer, would come back if he didn’t think he was in decent enough condition to win this fight. Whitaker will murk him though

The fight of the night will be Garbrandt v Dillashaw. Expect a war between two absolute studs. Garbrandt’s power will be too much and he’ll win by KO in the third, but it will be fireworks until then.
2628592, Old guys coming back after time away hasn't gone too well for them
Posted by T Reynolds, Fri Nov-03-17 11:28 AM
Machida was stopped dead in his tracks. I think the same will happen when a ring-rusty GSP comes in against Bisping, who like Stipe lacks flash and a discernible mastery of any particular facet within MMA (actually Stipe is a better boxer), but just keeps winning big.

The fight I am really looking forward to is No Love vs. TJ. I think Garbrandt is way faster than TJ. TJ is a better grappler than Dominick Cruz and that's the only phase I can see him doing better than Dom in against Cody. Cody is just at the top of his game but we'll see what TJ has added since his last fight.

Thompson vs. Masvidal, how can I not root for Masvidal. He is a real killer and his all around game is really peaking. I know Thompson's grappling defense is sharp but I just have a hard time believing Thompson can keep Masvidal at a range to outpoint him the whole fight or catching him with something that's gonna sleep him.

I really hope Thug Rose doesn't get thoroughly busted up by Joanna but who am I kidding. It's gonna be a slaughter.

And how in the blue fuck does Big Rigg keep getting spots in the main card yo? Like wtf?

In the prelims def looking forward to Duffy vs Vick, and seeing what BJJ wizkid Gall does against another opponent.
2628623, This could be it for Hendricks
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Nov-03-17 05:25 PM
He didn’t look at all impressive in his MW debut and there’s a pretty firm ceiling in that division as is - is he really going to compete against Rockhold? Romero? Whitaker?
2628750, I am stunned.
Posted by Numba_33, Sat Nov-04-17 10:29 PM
Did not see that coming at all.

Gotta wonder how the rematch will go down.
2628751, THUG ROSE BABY!!! hahahahahahahaahahahaa

It brought me so much joy to see Joanna
get her ass kicked after all that shit-
talking and borderline bullying she was
doing. Rose just stood there humble
in fucking prayer lol. Boy that was
lovely.
2628752, ive always hated joanna's attitude

Wonder what's going through Robert Whitaker's head right now.
2628808, Whitaker is basically GSP 2.0 - great footwork and a jab
Posted by Tiger Woods, Sun Nov-05-17 01:05 PM
I can't call that fight. Gonna be fun.
2628768, Even GSP won... everyone I wanted to win, won tonight lol

Bisping got beat the fuck up AND choked out.
I wanted his ole refined racist ass to get

I have to think Luke Rockhold still wants to pound Bisping's skull in a few times. That loss has to still burn him up.

Maybe, maybe not, but having Bisping/Rockhold serve as a possible undercard for a GSP/Whitaker scrap would sell like hotcakes. Champ vs Interim Champ and ex-champ vs ex-champ would be a stellar top of a fight card, assuming all those guys would be healthy enough to fight at the same time next year.
2628773, GSP, man... legend
Posted by GOMEZ, Sat Nov-04-17 11:47 PM
I feel foolish for doubting him.

Edit: just to confirm, after this card I know nothing about this sport and anything can happen.
2628777, Something interesting to think about
Posted by Numba_33, Sun Nov-05-17 12:05 AM
A lot of folks thought Johnny Hendricks beat GSP when the judges gave GSP the decision nod the last time GSP fought before tonight. Look at how their careers are going now. Pretty wild.
2628806, best show ever?

2628807, Definitely one of the best. Night full of upsets.

2628813, I gotta say more about Rose Namajunas
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Sun Nov-05-17 01:36 PM
Joanna was yelling all in her face at the weigh-in as Rose stared unemotionally back at her, mouthing something inaudible. I even thought she looked a little timid and frightened. When Joe Rogan asked her what she was saying, she said she was reciting the Lord's Prayer. Joe looked like he had NO idea what to say to that, lmao. When he asked her what the fight meant to her, she said it meant "standing up for myself and what I believe in." Perhaps my favorite part of the event was Rose's comments in the post-fight interview. She began by saying that she wants to use her gift of martial arts to make the world a better place with all of the crazy stuff going on in the world and the media. She said to her fans "This belt don't mean nothin'. Be a good person. Let's just give each other hugs and be nice, man. I know we fight, but afterwards, it's nothing." She didn't talk any trash before or after the fight, and she didn't disrespect her opponent. She never played cartoon tough... she never played tough at all. She just displayed something beyond class the whole time. This woman is an INSPIRATION and my new favorite person in fighting... KO'd a KO artist and said "let's just give each other hugs and be nice." When was the last time you saw that?
This has been Boogie Stimuli reporting, and I fux with Thug Rose... HEAVYYYYYY.
2628816, man one of the best post fight speeches ever

matter of fact, lets just cancel all future post fight interview/speeches and just play that back instead each time

You're right. She's said quite a few quotables
during this whole ordeal that definitely need
