so we're going with John Navarre version.beta
2622307, what are you looking at?
Posted by HecticHavoc, Sat Sep-09-17 02:27 PM
just did a casual search, espn has him as 12th in the B1G in QBR.

9th in yards
14th in standard Rating
tied for the most interceptions
13th in TD passes
11th in yards/att
14th in completion percentage
12th in completions

so yeah, not a good look bragging about "efficieny" numbers when a simple search obliterates him in any fucking top 3 category *AT ALL*
i also understand he played Florida, but you tried bragging about stats

2622317, not a good decision/call by Oklahoma on the opening drive

fine idea to go for it on fourth, but Mayfield had just missed a throw to the other boundary. having him hit another tough pass on the very next play, all amped up, was not the best idea.

to prove that last years OSU defense wasn't elite. *yawn*. should've hired brady hoke haha.

if only they could've shit the bed down the stretch and lost 3 out of 4 like the mich D. darn.

mich is the most elite squad ever to finish 3rd in the division back to back.

and i have no idea what your definition of elite is. but given that OSU's defense last year didnt shit the bed when the game was on the line like mich's D did...I think they did pretty ok.

can't complain about the offensive staff anymore...

and we have yet again a big game (during a span of 3 different OC's) where OSU bails on an effective run game to run the ball primarily with the qb.

JT had more rushing attempts than dobbins and webber combined and that's just inconceivable. but really not that inconceivable because thats usually the breakdown against every top opponent.

2nd drive of the 2nd half is when they lost the game IMO. dobbins was starting to carve OU up. ball at the 7 yard line after a miraculous catch by austin mack on a badly overthrown ball and what do they do? JT rush for 1 yard. JT rush for another yard. JT airmails a pass to a wide open WR in the end zone and they settle for 3.

goodnight.

>they did it last year
>in Norman and Urban is a dick.

in the visitor section of the stadium is disrespectful? and somehow the moral equivalent to what mayfield did? yikes, thats some pretty weird perspective.

look i don't really care about the flag planting shit and I'm of the opinion that if you don't want opposing players celebrating on your field then win the game when you have the opportunity to do so...

but somehow equating the two acts is very clearly a desperate rationalization for having a goon represent your school/favorite team.

a goon who played a helluva game. but a very well documented goon with ample video footage to prove it.
2622379, Ohio State fans can't call any other team's players "goons"
Posted by B9, Sun Sep-10-17 11:18 AM
Baker's off field transgressions are JV level OSU goonery. They stuck around and sung your fight song at midfield in Norman last year. Yes, you brought that on, motivated that "goon" and he pissed in your cherrrios.
2622403, you sound really mad...but what else is new?
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Sep-10-17 02:17 PM
maybe take a half a minute to celebrate your victory instead of getting pissy about what other fanbases think about your favorite quarterback?

>Baker's off field transgressions are JV level OSU goonery.

really? i don't recall any OSU qb drunk and fleeing from the cops recently...and then starting the next game to boot. it's been a pretty low-key bunch ever since urban arrived.

also, i can say say whatever i want about anyone...you don't seem to be able to separate fandom from actually being part of a team. try reigning yourself back into reality for half a minute here.

>They stuck around and sung your fight song at midfield in
>Norman last year.

no, they sang a song (the horror!) in the visiting fanbase section with the band. they do it every single game, and have done so for as long as i can remember. opposing teams have done it in OSU stadium (MSU in 2015). and nobody has ever given a shit. not in real life. not on this board. nobody has even mentioned it. y'all lost. grow up and get over it and quit using it as some sort of rationalization for goofball behavior.

>Yes, you brought that on, motivated that
>"goon" and he pissed in your cherrrios.

Yes, *I* brought that on...smh.

I'm not gonna speak for your goon quarterback but I would wager that he was far more motivated by getting his tail kicked at home and his desire to win the game this year than some celebratory fight song which by any sane and logical standard was not done to show up the other team or agitate its fanbase.

2622419, Never seen such a big deal made out of singing "Carmen Ohio"

but I can see how high and mighty these guys are after watching Mixon rearrange some girls face and then be allowed to play...and then the following year with Mayfields whodini act vs the cops.

these 3 events should definitely be lumped into the same bucket of morality.
2622484, Wait, you now want to give a lesson on separating feelings?
Posted by B9, Mon Sep-11-17 01:45 PM
After getting all upset over a flag at your midfield? What, is the Horseshoe some holy land that is equivocally higher ground than anything else?
Baker was out partying, on his feet (not in car), drunk, of legal age and ran from the police. He got charged with barely anything, and that was in a different state with no local police cover up shit like Urban is used to cultivating. How drunkly running from police is "goon" behavior is perhaps just a difference in semantics. So if that's being a "goon", what about Barrett's underage DUI? Is he a mass murderer in your eyes?

Fuck off with the rest of it. But Baker apologized for your hurt feelings today, hopefully that will go some distance to correcting the litany of crappy things about your football team's performance.
2622487, Joe Mixon beat up women. Repeatedly. Pls shut up.
Posted by guru0509, Mon Sep-11-17 02:38 PM
funny how you glossed over that.

lets not go down that road of comparing whose team is more goonish.

just enjoy the biggest win in the last 15 years for your team.

good thing Baker Mayfield was smart enough to do it once the field was clear of any Ohio State players

edit,

and yes,

the Horseshoe is College Football Holy Land.

If you want to go to former players, we could do that.

Edit: And that's a hilarious intimation that any OSU player would have the heart or care to do anything about what Mayfield did had they been there when none of them had the heart to make a play that mattered the entire game.

when they've done fuck all on a national level in over a decade.

perhaps thats why it's so hard for their goon players to act like they've been there before. and the small segment of their lunatic fringe fan base.

and that's really cute that joe mixon is suddenly off limits, lol. feel free to go down the road of OSU players who caved in a girls face on video and who was still allowed to play. i'll wait.

from post #50...

"look i don't really care about the flag planting shit and I'm of the opinion that if you don't want opposing players celebrating on your field then win the game when you have the
opportunity to do so..."

Me saying I don't give a shit = being upset about a flag at *my* midfield?

I can't decide whether this conversation is hilarious or kinda disturbing.

> what
>about Barrett's underage DUI? Is he a mass murderer in your

It was a shitty thing and he got suspended for it.

>Fuck off with the rest of it. But Baker apologized for your

It would be great if winning a football game could bring you a little extra happiness. The only one with hurt feelings in this entire thread is YOU.

Fortunately the rest of your fanbase who came to the game wasn't completely batshit.
2622534, In summation, Mayfield is a "goon" while DUIs are simply "unfortunate"
Posted by B9, Tue Sep-12-17 09:06 AM
Great sliding scale of morality there.

and edit: who's doing quoted replies, trying to make a case for their feelings, but talking about "who's mad"? Put more effort in.
2622570, i said it was shitty. not sure what adjective would make you happy
Posted by 3xKrazy, Tue Sep-12-17 07:34 PM
since happiness is clearly not something within your capabilities.

but the relevant point was that JT was punished and missed a game unlike your man crush qb. and unlike mayfield, JT has never acted like a goon on the field.

>and edit: who's doing quoted replies, trying to make a case
>for their feelings, but talking about "who's mad"? Put more
>effort in.

LOL. quoting replies takes effort now? more so than the lunatic act you're pulling here? sorry, but when you flat out make shit up about what I said and are intentionally dishonest about the events in question...I'm going to point that out.

bottom line since this back and forth has ran its course: you're a sore loser and a bad winner. I'm sure both traits have gotten you very far in life. both OSU fans in this thread gave the internet equivalent of a congrats and a handshake and instead of being a human being in return...all you can do is cry about a school song from a year ago (which nobody ever said shit about at the time) and fire back with venom like the angry cunt that you are.
2622581, Feel better yet? Tough even? Goonish?
Posted by B9, Tue Sep-12-17 10:50 PM
I just knew that you all, people that project way too much value in the antics of college students, would catch feelings about that flag crap and every long, ass-hurt reply you've put in here has backed that up. I wouldn't have given a shit to reply until this "goon" crap had come up and tried to get some grasp on where your unearned sense of a moral high-ground came from. And now you've walked it back to his on-field antics as being "goonery". Great, showing emotion and playing with heart is the sort of "goon" the robots in Columbus could learn from; college football isn't or shouldn't be whatever manufactured and characterless horseshit that Urban's Reno-lounge act pregame techno show has become. And as far as discipline for his misdemeanor, victimless arrest, maybe they could have taken lessons from Urban's "first half against the next meaningless opponent" guidelines? Would that make you less of a judgmental fuckwad? Probably not.

2622679, ironic that you're accusing me of projecting and catching feelings
Posted by 3xKrazy, Wed Sep-13-17 07:35 PM
when my very first post in this thread was 'GREAT GAME OKLAHOMA'

and my second post in the thread was about how *I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE FLAG INCIDENT AND THAT OSU SHOULD PLAY BETTER TO KEEP THAT FROM HAPPENING*

therefore, every dishonest and twisted word you have typed in response to any of this nonsense is nothing other than insecure deranged garbage. it would be a lot easier to accuse you of illiteracy but I actually do think you're capable of reading so clearly your issues go a helluva lot deeper than that.

and weren't you the same irrational fanboy who was dick riding lance armstrong all those years? LOL.

anyways enjoy your win, dude. you're a real delight.

Today's game showed some glaring areas of concern, though.

I am definitely not on the #BenchSpeight team, but I think he
needs to clean up his accuracy issues in a hurry. I don't
have any particular faith in O'Korn and Peters as a freshman
is a non-starter in my opinion.

The defense is extraordinarily young but full of promise (kind
of like OSU last year). I think as they gain experience as
the season unfolds, they could be elite and singlehandedly
carry us to more than a few W's.

Urban & co. getting out-coached by a graduate assistant aged HC
was a nice pick-me-up, though.

2622378, it's ridiculous...o'korn is horrendous

>2/2 100 yd games, this may be premature on your part

that 5 star ranking went out the window along with derrick green and kareem walker.
2622540, haha - youre so mad you cant even stay on topic

2622572, wait, i was the 1 who brought up a player star ranking from 5 years ago?
Posted by 3xKrazy, Tue Sep-12-17 07:41 PM
uhhhhhh

and no, mich's crappy offensive backfield doesn't make me mad at all.

keep in mind my post wasn't even directed at you but you were so apparently 'not mad' about my comment that you had to interject and correct me with your BS football expertise.

clearly, this tiresome 'my squad is better than your squad' routine is going to be a nauseating weekly routine...until the season culminates with the same outcome it has for the past 2 decades.

Speight is easily our best option. I think people forget we got 4 returning starters on offense. It's gonna take a second.. Just keep winning in the meantime...

is complete hoe shit and something has to be done. Kids should have to sit out longer than a play. Seems like a simple solution. Make them sit out the rest of the drive. Or make their team have to use a timeout if they want to put them back in after a play. I bet that would stop these meathead coaches from teaching that hoe shit.
2622370, Oklahoma won the day

Oklahoma was most impressive win of the weekend obviously. Went on the road and actually beat their ass. All of the hype for Mayfield aside, I couldn't believe how athletic and physical that defense was. There's not too many teams in the country who can match that physicality, much less in the increasingly pass happy Big 12. They're in it for the long haul and, provided they don't gag, will be in the playoff.

Similarly, USC should -SHOULD- coast to the playoff. Offensively, they're as slick as it gets on Saturdays.

I wanted more from Georgia and especially Clemson who was at home.

Penn State found another level when they had the chance to slit Pitt's throat. If I were a Lions fan that'd be encouraging to me.

The team who has to be licking their chops now is Wisconsin. They're poised to steal the conference out from under the noses of the "Big 3" of OSU, UM, PSU. Schedule is just too favorable, and by the time they do play Michigan that'll be a bruised Wolverines team.
2622440, OU has a cpl tough road games

at KSU and at OkSt. plus TCU might be good, and i think WVU actually is good.

they didnt look awesome last week but i agree

>I wanted more from Georgia and especially Clemson who was at

more than what? they won. clemson is still breaking in a new qb this year and beat a ranked opponent. u(sic)ga is breaking in a new qb this WEEK and won in South Bend. i bet kirby and dabo are all smiles today, at least when the players arent around. especially since clemson had to be looking ahead just a touch.

didnt watch

lol wut? they would still have to beat PSU without Cichy (nah) and Hornibrook isnt good enough to beat Michigan twice. OSU looks like it has some questions so far but PSU and Michigan each have a dominant side of the ball.
2622469, if Wisconsin runs the table, the other division is irrelevant to them

2622473, do they have an exemption from the B1G Title game?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Sep-11-17 10:53 AM
i mustve missed that.
2622466, fuck PSU's coach for that bullshit presser and then spin job
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Sep-11-17 09:44 AM
beating Pitt is like beating Akron? Oh.. OK, still bitter from last year.

I wish Narduzzi would bench that bum ass QB from USC. He fucking sucks.
2622375, great game oklahoma...
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Sep-10-17 11:07 AM
that was the biggest away fan representation in the 'shoe I've ever seen and most of y'all seemed like nice folks.

Meyer needs to make the tough call that Tress made back in the day when he replaced boeckman with pryor. forget about killing this year's team...it's hurting the chances for next year when you're gonna have to throw a green qb out there with no experience.

i thought it would be best for JT to move on after last year but was willing to give it a shot with the new coaching staff. but nope! nothing has changed.
2622431, Penn State wasn't good enough.
Posted by bshelly, Sun Sep-10-17 07:37 PM
Defense couldn't get off the field, the oline didn't block well enough to run, and mcsorely threw like shit. That's enough against Pitt, but it won't be in conference.
2622467, Pitts QB is trash.
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Sep-11-17 09:45 AM
I hope they bench him soon.
