2614248, Cavaliers working on a multi-team deal to acquire dat Jimmy

whether it happens or not, fellas...this may be the best NBA off-season in the history of history.

2614255, RE: I'd rather have PG.

Offensively? For sure....

But PG got roasted by Klay (when the PBS logo dropped 60 on him). I think they are looking at defense rather than offense.....And it kind of makes sense....There is no perimeter player on the Cavs who can even stop someone's grandmother....Jimmy is a beast on D....

But we all know this trade ain't happening...Boston is not going to jump in to help the Cavs (that's what the Cavs are rumored to be up to...) in a three team deal....And the Cavs don't have anyone they can realistically offer (Nope on K. Love....)....
2614267, Jimmy needs the ball. PG doesn't.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Jun-19-17 05:26 PM
PG has less of an ego too. And he's solid on D.
2614274, RE: Jimmy needs the ball. PG doesn't.
Posted by murph71, Mon Jun-19-17 05:33 PM

Actually...Jimmy's rebounding, defense and passing kind of evens that all out...

He can have a impact on the game without getting buckets....

And again it has to be said...The Cavs didn't get beat because of a lack of scoring....Defensively they sucked....

But this bullshit trade ain't happening....As a fan I'm not interested in K. Love....
2614285, PG can play off the ball more because hes a better shooter
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Mon Jun-19-17 06:29 PM
>PG has less of an ego too. And he's solid on D.

But Jimmy gets to the line more and its not like hes a ball stopper. He's a pretty good passer who doesnt force shots.

These days PG has shown a tendency to float and be disintertested. On Defense I feel like Jimmy's also passed him up
2614305, dunno if i agree with that assessment
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jun-19-17 07:09 PM
butler is a better defender and i think either of them will know their role playing with lebron. i think in a reduced role their scoring will be pretty similar, though PG is a better shooter. we don;'t know exactly what they are giving up so hard to say what they will need here.

the biggest thing is that butler is under contract for two years and george is only under contract for one. obviously that makes butler much more attractive, unless the price is significantly lower for george.
2614340, It's not just playing with Lebron. It's playing with Lebron and Kyrie.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Jun-19-17 10:32 PM
And standing around in the corner waiting for the ball. And that pass more than likely isn't coming unless its from Bron and the game is close.
2614502, i think all the more reason butler is a better fit
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jun-20-17 11:48 AM
he can impact the game without scoring more. but yeah i think we agree that irving is like pookie, not inclined to give up the rock
2614503, RE: i think all the more reason butler is a better fit

Yep....
2614254, Depnds on who you give up...
Posted by DJ Wade-O, Mon Jun-19-17 04:50 PM
If Love and Tristan are still there....he fits better because he can play the two.

If Love or Tristan is included....George is a better fit.

PG is a better player. But I'd like to see who they have to give up.

2614258, Is it that hard to build around Butler?
Posted by LeroyBumpkin, Mon Jun-19-17 04:58 PM
I don't understand.
He's on a cake contract for another 2 years.
2614259, Zack Lowe was saying way back on one of the podcasts...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Jun-19-17 05:00 PM
that there was an internal F.O. struggle on whether or not he could be "the guy" or not.
2614307, probably wants out and he's the one real asset they have
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jun-19-17 07:10 PM
they are headed for a rebuild, they see it.
2614261, They're doing what they should be doing
Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Jun-19-17 05:06 PM
Inquiring about any players who will make them better. That's what most teams do but the pressure is even higher for Cleveland bc Bron has them over the barrel (which was his intention in the first place based on how he structured his contracts)
2614264, if it happens, Jimmy better than Klay. If not, Klay better.
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Jun-19-17 05:21 PM
Makes me no difference, as long as Cavs get a star wing.
2614272, LMAO @ if it happens, Jimmy better than Klay. If not, Klay better.

>Makes me no difference, as long as Cavs get a star wing.

^^^This is coming. In order of likelihood:

1) George
2) Melo
3) Surprise option we didn't know was on the table until it happens
4) Jimmy (I think he's headed to Boston)
2614280, lulz!!

2614269, im working on a deal to acquire a unicorn
Posted by bshelly, Mon Jun-19-17 05:28 PM
Foh. They probably don't have the assets for a George rental, let alone Butler.
2614297, Wouldn't surprise if the Cavs are being used as leverage
Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Jun-19-17 06:59 PM
Cavs want him so you better up your offer!
2614325, seems unnecessary
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jun-19-17 08:20 PM
lots of interest in both PG and Jimmy Buckets and what the Cavs have to offer themselves probably won't top suitors with serious interests. You know the Cavs FO is feeling the heat from LeBron, I am sure they are very creatively pushing to get something done.
2614337, For Jimmy, yes. Not that much for PG
Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Jun-19-17 09:33 PM
According to Woj, his camp is blatantly telling every team that he's a guaranteed 1 year rental and will be in LA come 2018.
2614355, yeah but that has been known from the jump
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jun-20-17 01:37 AM
butler will get better return than george but it's not like the cavs are the only team interested in george. cleveland, san antonio and boston at a minimum could be interested in him as a rental. i think cleveland's interest is legitimate. i don't see them being used as leverage or driving up the price for other teams. these are real negotiations.
2614309, We don't know who the other teams involved are
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jun-19-17 07:12 PM
You know "the force" was a metaphor for education and savvy, for the ability of the intelligent and strong-willed to push around the mush-headed and weak. There are plenty of NBA GMs who don't have the force, my friend.
2614283, if it happens, the only reason I'm gonna party
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Jun-19-17 06:15 PM
is because the Bulls fans have been on tilt following the Cheat Codes' victory.

and I've watched y'all.

2614347, why are eastern conference teams willing to talk to
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Mon Jun-19-17 11:40 PM
the Cavs about helping them win the east again..

shit is mad weird to me.....

if you done with Jimmy Butler....send him somewhere he's not going to hurt you...
2614356, Bulls and Pacers are both headed for a rebuild, what do they care?
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jun-20-17 01:38 AM
Trade him within the conference or division, what does it matter? They want the best deal for their future. LeBron is not going to play forever.
2614357, because they are in competition with these teams....
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Tue Jun-20-17 02:27 AM
and they literally can't offer better deals than other teams...

2614358, We don't know that yet
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Tue Jun-20-17 02:54 AM
And one of the teams who will surely be in on both guys is boston, also in the conference. are they "competing" with cleveland? not really, more like running underneath them. Only a very good team is going to give up anything for a one-rental of George. So what are the options? Golden State, I don't think so. They need to pare down a bit to keep KD, tough to see the deal working financially. The Spurs, possibly, but not their style to rent a player. The other potential suitors would be Cleveland, Boston, possibly Toronto since they have tried to be aggressive lately. Butler is a different story, wider net to be cast there.
2614654, uh...we don't know that they're both in the eastern conference
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Tue Jun-20-17 04:22 PM
I'm pretty sure we know that already
2614372, nobody in the east is in competition w/ the cavs
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Jun-20-17 07:26 AM
they may play each other. but its not a competition.

make a move with them that benefits you and punt the timeline a few years down the road beyond the cavs/warriors.
2614359, you peeped that too huh..... lol
Posted by LegacyNS, Tue Jun-20-17 02:57 AM
How about Butler to Boston, PG to Toronto, or another player for Washington....

Nah. none of that huh? - lololololol

ever since i heard charlamagne tell that story a few years back about her taking him and his crew to some regular hood-ass LA house party with no bodyguard, i just get that vibe that she's the type that's open to giving regular joe schmoes a shot.

a ring was willing to take step back and say "KD you can be Batman, I'll be Robin".

With the speculation about JB or PG going to Cleveland, are either of these guys willing to basically take a #3 role at this point in their careers to get a ring?

Jimmy Butler reportedly has no interest in joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to TNT’s David Aldridge.

The Chicago Bulls’ swingman reportedly would rather stay in Chicago than be traded to Cleveland, per Aldridge. The Cavaliers have been rumored to be in pursuit of Butler and the Indiana Pacers’ Paul George since the offseason started.

ESPN’s Marc Stein reported the same on Tuesday evening:

Sources said on Tuesday that the Cavaliers have been notified that Butler hopes to stay with the Bulls and would be reluctant to commit his long-term future to Cleveland. Butler, sources said, remains intent on trying to lead the Bulls back to Eastern Conference prominence.

Stein added that now former Cavs GM David Griffin made a push for both Butler and George during his final days. A trade would have likely forced the Cavaliers to find (at least) a third team to get involved in a trade.

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that Chicago had a steep price for Butler. He also named the Minnesota Timberwolves as a team that was interested. But the elevated price on Butler makes it seem like the Bulls might not be in much of a rush to deal their best player.

Butler, who has been an All-Star the past three seasons, is guaranteed to be with the Bulls through the 2018-19 season, with an option for 2019-20.

2614869, like i said, klay better than him and he wouldn't have helped anyway
