so this may have been addressed, but i think klay will prolly be the one they decide to let walk in a few years. i can envision him maybe signing up with the lakers at some point.

and being that the GSW front office is the most visionary in the game, i'd bet that they're already laying the groundwork for a line of succession. i noticed mccaw getting more tick in the last 2 playoff rounds, and using it well. i like his potential as a long-term low-cost replacement. 2-way guy with a nice all-around offensive game.

Curry should literally hand write checks after each and every game pre, post, and regular season to ensure the Warriors don't let Klay walk; Klay does a yeoman's effort to hide Curry's one-on-one defensive responsibilities against top notch point guards on the wing. Opposing top level point guards would respectively lick their chops at the prospect of Klay bouncing from the Warriors.

Klay is a solid perimeter defender but its not like he's out there locking opposing pg's down. Kyrie had some huge games in the Finals with Klay being the primary defender on him.

Out of the Warriors "big 4" I feel like Klay is definitely the most replaceable. They could find a solid "3 & D" guy on the cheap that gives them most of what Klay does.

He still saves Curry from having expend energy trying to contend on the wing and also saves him from getting into foul trouble.

First seems to be that if KD takes a paycut, the Warriors will re-sign ALL or at least the vast majority of their free agents. Said in that off-season post: Clark, McGee, ZaZa are almost assurdedly gone and West probably retires. And Livingston could still leave. So a lot of the money they're counting as going towards salary/luxury tax (like a three-year deal for Clark) probably won't be a reality.

also apart from the iggy acquisition, they have been frugal about giving up picks. they drafted three of these guys and didn't give up picks for KD. if they keep drafting well they can handle the loss of one of their big four. i believe klay is the first up for a monster contract after the 18-19 season. i would imagine he will not re-up barring some willingness to sign for less (and durant also being willing to do the same, and more than the marginal discount he's bandied about recently).
