..its the nature of business (addition by subtraction).

we all know what free agency means in this era. still, i'm sure they'll figure it out.

so this may have been addressed, but i think klay will prolly be the one they decide to let walk in a few years. i can envision him maybe signing up with the lakers at some point.

and being that the GSW front office is the most visionary in the game, i'd bet that they're already laying the groundwork for a line of succession. i noticed mccaw getting more tick in the last 2 playoff rounds, and using it well. i like his potential as a long-term low-cost replacement. 2-way guy with a nice all-around offensive game.

2613670, There was a response on here about players making sacrifices

Curry should literally hand write checks after each and every game pre, post, and regular season to ensure the Warriors don't let Klay walk; Klay does a yeoman's effort to hide Curry's one-on-one defensive responsibilities against top notch point guards on the wing. Opposing top level point guards would respectively lick their chops at the prospect of Klay bouncing from the Warriors.
2613674, I think that part is somewhat overstated...

Klay is a solid perimeter defender but its not like he's out there locking opposing pg's down. Kyrie had some huge games in the Finals with Klay being the primary defender on him.

Out of the Warriors "big 4" I feel like Klay is definitely the most replaceable. They could find a solid "3 & D" guy on the cheap that gives them most of what Klay does.

He still saves Curry from having expend energy trying to contend on the wing and also saves him from getting into foul trouble.

so steph curry, who's been severely underpaid for several years now, should be giving back money.

The core four should each sacrifice and take less than the max to ensure they team stays together.

I'll take the time out to read the article in full tomorrow after work when I have the time, but does the article show a way for all four of the core players to get max contracts and for the team to remain viably competitive for the future?
2613750, Right, I didn't think Dude was seriously saying that.

as you said, a two way player.

young kid under the tutelage of Ron Adams, Draymond and Iggy. Could be a stud on that end of us he reaches his prime.
2613679, he can play and he looks resilient

i remember dude put up 2 airballs in the first half and i thought for sure his night was over.

think he came back in the second half and hit 2 shots to stave off some cavs momentum
2613681, The article makes a lot of projections that won't hold true

First seems to be that if KD takes a paycut, the Warriors will re-sign ALL or at least the vast majority of their free agents. Said in that off-season post: Clark, McGee, ZaZa are almost assurdedly gone and West probably retires. And Livingston could still leave. So a lot of the money they're counting as going towards salary/luxury tax (like a three-year deal for Clark) probably won't be a reality.
2613845, we'll see what sacrifices guys are willing to make.
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Jun-15-17 03:11 PM
also apart from the iggy acquisition, they have been frugal about giving up picks. they drafted three of these guys and didn't give up picks for KD. if they keep drafting well they can handle the loss of one of their big four. i believe klay is the first up for a monster contract after the 18-19 season. i would imagine he will not re-up barring some willingness to sign for less (and durant also being willing to do the same, and more than the marginal discount he's bandied about recently).
