GM Wes Wilcox has been fired.

Coach Budenholzer might step down as President and focus solely on coaching.

Early rumors are that a Dwight Howard trade would only fetch the Hawks cap relief and a 2nd rounder. (Honestly, I might not mind welcoming Dwight to the Celtics if that's the cost.)

Millsap says that he's going to opt out. He could go back but it would seem silly, especially if he can get a good deal on a better team.

Right now, they have Dwight, Bazemore, Schroeder, Prince, Bembry, and someone named Malcolm Delaney under contract. That's about 60 million so they could make a run at a couple of stars but if they look to bring back Millsap and Hardaway, I'm thinking it'll be tough to add someone of substance.

Do you try to bring back Millsap and maintain the 43 win team? How much are you willing to pay Tim Hardaway Jr? How much would German Rondo and Bazemore bring in a deal if you decide to start up the tank?

Really since last off-season but it really took off later on when they refused to get something for Millsap. Yay, another playoff run. Love him for all he's done in a Hawks uniform but now you're forced to have him leave for nothing or give a hefty contract to a 32 year old.

Now with all the nonsense in the AJC with Ressler showing that he may have been meddling because he's trying to not lose all the good will from the 60 win team....let the basketball people work man.

Just move on and let Dennis (who got more consistent near the end of the year) and a bunch of young dudes gel together. Taurean Prince looked great this year. Let Bembry get more time. Tell Ressler "Yeah you'll probably lose the playoff streak but what has that gotten you. Attendance was still bad this year."

Blazers shut them down. Don't blame ownership for doing that. Dude spends all of my money, I'm not going to let him hightail it out of there.

Did the Hawks look at the mess Neil has created in Portland? Dame and CJ were great picks and the Nurk trade was a steal but... their payroll is up to 125 million next season. They're going to have to hope they can find some guys who will eat some contracts for their picks.

Now looking back on how the 60-win team left, it's inexcusable that BOTH Horford and Millsap are gone with nothing in return to show for it.

I can sorta get trying to sell Al on culture and risking it. Both once he left, standing pat at the trade deadline with people wanting Millsap was just foolish. Don't care if it was Ressler and/or President Bud. It was time to go asset collecting. And now the inevitable rebuild road is even harder.

Hopefully ownership understands what needs to be done now and stays the hell out of Schlenk's way. First time in a while I'm intrigued to watch some Hawks Summer League games.
