2473885, D.C. Fans LOVE manufacturing Ls with forced player "rivalries"
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Sep-04-15 09:37 AM

urlacher/lavar
bron/gilbert
luck/RG3
beal/klay
steve blake/J-Will

it's an OOOOLD phenomenon, too. i remember riggo and dorsett. DC dudes just be so pressed to say they guy better and they DON'T BE BETTER!!!

sonny wasn't better than roger and that was long over before i was born, but i STILL HEAR ABOUT IT!!!!

this the most L taking town ever with this player comparison stuff. i'm guilty, too. i be lookin at bryce v. trout like "NOOOOOPE....bryce younger and got more natural talent"...man, trout better, but damn if I ain't gonna cyse bryce over him if he hits for better average over their careers. so.

only thing that's close right now is wall/kyrie and we know that L coming. at least i'm on the other side of that, but it's a HUGE deal here. so glad murray got traded so some of the intensity got taken out of murray v. morris ("alfred would have 2000 yards behind that line")

i don't understand why this town so pressed. it's across racial lines, too. tell a white guy here that crosby still better...SMH...WWIII.

gotta get outta here. they crazy.
2473888, My favorite part of that is how hyped Nats fans got over Strasburg
Posted by magilla vanilla, Fri Sep-04-15 09:41 AM
only for the Mets to go NOPE! We got four of those! And both Harvey and de Grom (if not also Syndegaard and Matz) BETTER.
2473891, Ok. Harper will be better than any Met ever.
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Sep-04-15 09:44 AM
2473894, Ever?

2473908, yes. Only problem is he might end up in Pinstripes.
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Sep-04-15 10:34 AM
Which, in a twist, would pour extra salt in Mets fan's crusty ass Pastrami-sandwich-eating wounds.
2473913, i'd rather he be with the yankees than washington
Posted by Cenario, Fri Sep-04-15 10:42 AM
unless you guys plan on sucking for the next 3-5 years

Besides, Matt Harvey owns his soul.
2474405, your primary thought on potentially losing the best player in your team's
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Mon Sep-07-15 11:12 PM
history is what Mets fans would think about it?

good grief.
2474023, Can he drive in more runs in a season than Butch Huskey before u put him above
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Sat Sep-05-15 10:09 AM
above the guy who got the highest percentage of Hall of Fame votes ever?
2474046, To be fair...
Posted by Call It Anything, Sat Sep-05-15 02:51 PM
It was in response to a post that said a guy that has made 2 starts at the major league level might already be better than Stephen Strasburg.
2473892, still can't believe how they mismanaged his innings in 2011.
Posted by Cenario, Fri Sep-04-15 09:44 AM
or was that 2012?
2473889, I see you sliding Blake v Williams in there
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Sep-04-15 09:43 AM
I'll give you the other examples, but history hasn't been kind to Jason WIlliams. Or Jay Williams. Or whatever he calls himself.

Meanwhile Blake's had a better NBA career than Chris Wilcox OR Juan Dixon (or Jason Williams)

You hate, why for Ba? Blake, quiet as kept given the emotional impact Juan had on the team, was the lynchpin during those Gary Final Four years. He was underrated then and remains under appreciated locally even now.
2473893, look, man...this is a CLASSIC example...you are PRESSED, dogg
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Sep-04-15 09:45 AM
dudes said blake was better IN COLLEGE!!! IN COLLEGE!!!! STOP
LYING!!!!

why would ANYONE compare them in the NBA when they weren't even in the L at the same time? only a crazy pressed bamma would do that.

2473896, It's like he decided the post needed real-time verification.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Sep-04-15 10:12 AM
Like when a female writer writes an article about internet commenter misogyny, and someone inevitably replies in the comments, "This isn't true, you dumb bitch."

He also sprinkled the "Harper >>> Every Met Ever" gem above, just in case one example wasn't enough. Pretty awesome.
2473898, he actually made me mad. so pressed and stupid.
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Sep-04-15 10:16 AM
2473905, you're the pressed one tho... didn't say he was better in college
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Sep-04-15 10:30 AM
2473928, well, that's the only time they played each other, dogg.
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Sep-04-15 11:24 AM
2473899, glad someone is knocking these asses down a peg
Posted by smutsboy, Fri Sep-04-15 10:19 AM
their heads have just gotten so big with all the winning over the last 25 years.

...
2473923, Don't know how much this adds or detracts from your main point
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Sep-04-15 11:11 AM
but those Wizards/Cavaliers rivalry games back in the days were fun. From my somewhat foggy memory, I remember one of the Wizard players getting physical with LeBron. I'm certain it wasn't Arenas; I think it was some dude with Lincoln tattooed on his throat/neck area.

2473929, i'm dying that that's how you remember deshawn stevenson
Posted by sndesai1, Fri Sep-04-15 11:25 AM
2473950, I think someone had
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Sep-04-15 12:30 PM
an animated gif of him in their avatar. An animated gif of him slitting his throat during one of those Wizards/Cavaliers games.
2474135, the mavericks secret weapon!
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Sat Sep-05-15 09:34 PM
2473951, Didnt the wizards make 2nd round of the playoff tshirts?
Posted by Ceej, Fri Sep-04-15 12:31 PM
2473953, Every town does that
Posted by bshelly, Fri Sep-04-15 12:49 PM
Try to tell 2002 Bryan that Peyton was the best QB in league? "You better get the fuck out my face" (c). I might also have cysed Howard over Pujols for a while too.
2473963, well that would have been a lie anyways lol
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Sep-04-15 01:15 PM
>Try to tell 2002 Bryan that Peyton was the best QB in league?
2473980, Bobby Abreu is the best hitter in MLB - I wish that post got archived
Posted by KosherSam, Fri Sep-04-15 03:31 PM
2473956, Beal/Klay is stupid
Posted by B.J.S.301, Fri Sep-04-15 12:58 PM
LeBron/Gil was nice for a little bit. Gil a bigger choker than LeBron was though in those playoff games.

Didn't know folks was comparing Demarco Murray and Alfred Morris...That's a wash to me.
2473958, Beal/Klay is a thing??
Posted by Tiger Woods, Fri Sep-04-15 01:04 PM
2473961, murray/morris is not a wash...murray better than him
Posted by Basaglia, Fri Sep-04-15 01:14 PM
2473971, DeMarco vs. Alfred is "a wash"?!
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Sep-04-15 02:09 PM

>Didn't know folks was comparing Demarco Murray and Alfred
>Morris...That's a wash to me.

I'd like to ask any and all non-Cowboy/non-Redskin fans who they'd rather have. Something tells me 95-97% of the people would say Murray.
2473990, LMAO!!!
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Sep-04-15 05:46 PM
2474042, Lebron vs Gil/Deshawn was at least fun.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Sep-05-15 02:33 PM
cause that era of the wizards were fun (HIBACHI!).

the rest are sad and silly
2474206, and Deshawn kind of did get REAP... he just wasn't in DC at the time
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Sep-06-15 03:37 PM
2473964, they are correct that right today Ovie > Sid tho
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Sep-04-15 01:15 PM
2473969, it goes back and forth, both should have great years this season
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Sep-04-15 01:54 PM
very curious to see how kessel fits in with the pens. a line with him and sid would be sick, maybe kunitz on LW to add a solid two-way guy to the mix. ovie should carry over from last year and this year he will have considerably better scorers around him between guys improving and new additions.
2473973, Bias > Jordan...
Posted by builtfromwax, Fri Sep-04-15 02:26 PM
...for u to be from "da urrea" you know muhphukkin' well this would start some IMMEDIATE arguments amongst old heads who came up in the '80s and whose current occupation (i.e. hustle) includes landscaping or hangin' out in barbershops sellin' black soap still talkin' about how the refs ain't cheat Hagler because Ray beat him.

*woppin' it on out to "Knock 'Em Out, Knock 'Em Out Sugar-Sugar Ray"*
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VsUk3FtlFA

is it true? are they pressed? probably.
2474036, bias was better than jorn in college. bias was on some other shit.
Posted by poetx, Sat Sep-05-15 01:09 PM

2474129, That one strikes a nerve in the area.
Posted by Tiger Woods, Sat Sep-05-15 08:56 PM
No one tells the tragic story of Len Bias WITHOUT a "he was better than Jordan" or even "he would've been better than Jordan was...."

Hard to picture what "better than Jordan" would've looked like but it's widely believed locally
2473991, Yeah but nobody manufacturers strawman arguments and run from L's you
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Sep-04-15 05:50 PM
2474428, Wall/Kyrie been over for a few years now though.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Tue Sep-08-15 07:26 AM
It's to the point where I don't even consider Kyrie a rival to Wall, but just the King's shot happy sidekick.
2474432, fine with me...better than being the captain of a tugboat.
