2462662, Canelo vs Cotto at 155 in November

2462667, Who won't Cotto fight in their respective primes?
Posted by Vex_id, Fri Jul-03-15 10:27 PM
Unbelievable courage throughout his entire career.

2462678, Looks cotto is going to finally be fed to Canelo

this is gonna be ugly for Cotto unless he dances like Fred Astaire.

i won't even believe this is happening until i see Cotto walk out the locker room in November.
2470985, fuckin catchweight

2470996, Kneeguel Cotton had me rolling one day
Posted by southphillyman, Thu Aug-13-15 02:05 PM
I think canelo wins this. I'm trying to think of a major A level fight that kneeguel has won (does sergio or mosley count?)
2471067, Kneeguel is a good one damn
Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Aug-13-15 04:25 PM
If there's any time Cotto looks focused enough to face a scary young dude like Canelo, it's now. It's also around the time when you would expect him to be going out on his sword. All of this makes it compelling.
2470995, Cotto....all day.....EVERY DAY.

2471069, Middle-weight title fight at 155. SMH
Posted by John Forte, Thu Aug-13-15 04:35 PM
I'm excited for the fight, but Cotto needs to drop that strap if he's not willing to defend it at 160.
2471115, Either guy could win BUT Cotto only wins via decision. Canelo could stop him
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Aug-14-15 02:15 AM
or get a decision victory.
2471159, Canelo by 10th round TKO
Posted by Lach, Fri Aug-14-15 10:37 AM
2471164, I think Cotto's gonna get worn down
Posted by Kungset, Fri Aug-14-15 11:18 AM
like the first Margarito fight minus the plaster
2471286, Canelo by tko.
Posted by BlassFemur, Fri Aug-14-15 10:43 PM
Cotto will run and box early but Canolo will catch him and stop him later by stoppage. Plus Canelo goes to the body early.
2471295, Curious how this is at Mandalay, not MGM.
Posted by wallysmith, Sat Aug-15-15 01:40 AM
Smaller venue, when they could have easily sold out MGM Grand.
2496327, does a Canelo L mean he's washed?
Posted by bentagain, Sat Nov-21-15 02:35 PM
for all the hype pre Floyd fight

it was painfully evident he was nowhere near an elite fighter yet

not that anybody is in Floyd's class, but the BS we were fed pre fight was soon hiliarisad once the fight started

Cotto brings it

looks good w/Roach

if Canelo doesn't show something against Cotto, does he still get the elite fighter treatment?

of course he's young, and has plenty of time in his career to develop more

but if he takes an L to Cotto, could be he's just not that good.

also, that catch weight is not a good look for him
2496472, Good fight between
Posted by b2thej, Sat Nov-21-15 11:39 PM
Francisco Vargas and Takashi Miura.

Meanwhile Rigondeaux some bullshit. I can't ever remember Lederman shittin on a fighter so hard for lack of action. The way he fights is absolutely nothing like Floyd. I don't get the comparison at all.
2496479, canelo is gassed

2496480, Cakewalk for canelo so far
Posted by southphillyman, Sun Nov-22-15 12:38 AM
Cotto punches have no effect
2496481, Canelo is winning but Lampley
Posted by b2thej, Sun Nov-22-15 12:42 AM
gets on my damn nerves. Listening to him you would think that Cotton ain't doing shit.
2496482, lol and so much for Freddie improving Cotto
Posted by b2thej, Sun Nov-22-15 12:54 AM
He fought a severely washed Martinez and two trash fighters.

Oscar and Canelo full of shit to, there is no fucking reason they shouldn't be fighting GGG next. As big as Canelo is they just scared

Oh and Floyd better
2496484, great fight. Scoring was kind of suspect but at least the result was right
Posted by GOMEZ, Sun Nov-22-15 01:06 AM
Canelo looked as good as I've seen him look. cant wait for the fight w GGG.

Props to Cotto. Taking on all comers his whole caree for better or worse. Guy fought like a warrior again tonight.

2496485, sets up Canelo and GGG for a big pay per view...
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Sun Nov-22-15 02:21 AM
that's the biggest fight out there right now.
2496494, GGG is going to destroy this kid

2496527, As shakey as Canelo's defense is...
Posted by Hitokiri, Sun Nov-22-15 12:57 PM
I'm almost scared for him. Cotto didn't have the power to properly take advantage of the openings Canelo leaves... GGG aint got that problem.
2496845, he's gonna need to change game plans against GGG
Posted by Kungset, Mon Nov-23-15 11:50 AM
very bad match up for him. there may be a chance that Canelo's style has been tailored to fighting smaller guys and that he can change it up if needed, but i don't see it. he is what he is at this point, solid technique on his punches/countering but plodding footwork, and very hittable. i'm actually a big fan of Canleo but i see him getting hurt bad against GGG.
2496596, Don't know what fight people were watching
Posted by Musa, Sun Nov-22-15 03:18 PM
the only reason I am slightly comfortable with Alvarez getting the decision which was a round or two close was because he was clearly the stronger fighter at that weight. COTTO is not a middle weight.

Otherwise Cotto was landing 3-1 in most of the rounds.

I had it 7/5 for Canelo.

With that said this kid will get killed by GGG.

>COTTO is not a middle weight.

Alvarez won on clean effective punching. Cotto may have outlanded him, specifically with the jab, in a few rounds but Alvarez clearly landed the cleaner harder shots. I'm not the biggest fan of Kellerman but I do agree with his take on judging rounds when he always asks who would you rather have been in that round. Most people will say Alvarez in at least 10 out of 12 rounds, possibly all of them. As Roy Jones stated, Cotto's punches sounded like a tamborine and Canelo's sounded like a drum. A bass drum. His punches just had little effect on Alvarez. Alvarez countered whenever Cotto threw a punch, even when Cotto's punch landed. He just seemed to have little regard for his power and continued to come forward and have his way.

But this was no surprise. The younger stronger fighter beat the older smaller fighter. It was not a shock. Alvarez basically beat his chest when asked about GGG but let's see if he will actually fight him @ 160.

2496856, Cotto's right hand is about as fast as a TSA conveyor belt
Posted by bentagain, Mon Nov-23-15 12:16 PM
I was screaming, THROW THE RIGHT

did he injure his right hand, because it didn't look like he knew he had one

with that said, I did think he won at least a couple of more rounds than what he was given on the scorecards

Canelo did take off a couple of rounds

but I had to LOL at boricuas acting like he got robbed

FOH

great chin, great fight, nothing to be ashamed of, at all

but it's still an L

that was the 3rd fight I watched that night

and Cotto was easily taking the hardest punches I saw

the fact that he was just brushing them off is the best thing I can say about him in that fight
