He is only in the spot he is in because of how right he has been, it's not like just hiring any old ex NFL player like Trent Dilfer and pretending he is an expert at making picks.
At this point I think Silver gets some more leniency because he has had a lot of success, but he is in the being right game (usually), not the making people talk about your opinion game like ESPN.
