At one point I thought JD was the guy the A's should stick with long term (When the question was either him or Cespedes) but once Cespy was gone and Moss started to slide I think we saw JD's soft underbelly. He just wasn't comfortable being the "guy" and never really did hold that lineup up in the 3 hole. In my mind Lawrie isn't all that different from JD but he does get hurt a lot. The real deal here is the SS and any A's fan knew something had to be done here long term the minute they traded Russell for Shark last summer.
