2379910, Demarco Murray
Posted by LAbeathustla, Mon Oct-20-14 10:31 AM
deserves his own post

first back to rush for 100 + in first 7 games

Mr Dickerson he comin fa you nigga!!!!!!
2379917, I have question about this dude...was gonna make a post
Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon Oct-20-14 10:34 AM

Wasn't he a little scat back type at Oklahoma (was
the workhorse, but was small and speedy)?

How the fuck he transform into a powerful slashing
between-the-tackles runner?

I remember this with Ahman Green...was an option speed
back at Nebraska...transformed into a nasty physical
brute in the NFL

Weird

Romo has time to throw the ball. Murray has space to run between.

They the real MVP (c)
2379919, He getting hurt

Unless you think a 425 carry pace is sustainable. I do not.
2379924, thanks...so is maclin and shady...
Posted by LAbeathustla, Mon Oct-20-14 10:44 AM
but i aint wishing no injuries on em tho
2379969, Me neither. He's a beast and Pokes need to use him smarter
Posted by bshelly, Mon Oct-20-14 11:40 AM
With that offensive line, you can give Lance Dunbar and Sticky Fingaz carries and still be fine. They really re going to kill old boy
2379927, Crazy hearing the names...Jamal Lewis, Larry Johnson, Terrell Davis...
Posted by bentagain, Mon Oct-20-14 10:55 AM
I think the magic number is 370 carries, which Murray is about halfway to already

yes, it's a bleacher report link

J. Wilder 1984 407 As good in 1985, but limited by injuries afterwards
E. Dickerson 1986 404 The Randy Johnson of running backs
E. George 2000 403 Fell from 3.7 to 3.0 yd/carry, replacement level since
G. Riggs 1985 397 Fell from 4.3 to 3.9 yd/carry in 1986, part-time player from 1987 on
R. Williams 2003 392 We'll never know now, will we?
T. Davis 1998 392 Blew out ACL in 1999, more aborted comebacks than The Monkees
B. Foster 1992 390 9 games in 1993, 11 games in 1994, then gone
E. Dickerson 1983 390 Ran better than he enunciates

Player Year Carries Comments
R. Williams 2002 383 Will forever be seen as a fluke year
W. Payton 1984 381 ED-like exception, still great until 1987
M. Allen 1985 380 Fell from 4.6 to 3.6 yd/carry
E. Dickerson 1984 379 The all-time record, 2105 yards
G. Rogers 1981 378 Injuries in 1982-1983, poor 1984 followed by two-year Redskins comeback

J. Bettis 1997 375 Fell from 4.4 to 3.8 yd/carry, didn't top 4.0 again until fluky 2001
J. Riggins 1983 375 Fine in 1984, but battled injuries in 1985 and retired
E. Campbell 1980 373 Fell from 5.2 to 3.8 yd/carry, broke down so bad he can hardly walk now
E. Smith 1992 373 Still great until season listed above
L. Tomlinson 2002 372 So far no effects, actually better in 2003 with fewer carries
C. Okoye 1989 370 Part-time player by the following year, done after 1992

I think Murray is a unique situation though

he's had injury/fumble problems

so I'm of the mind set that you might as well run him into the ground while you can
2379930, jim brown and eric dickerson is the only names you need to worry about

2380190, as a team they need to sit down and figure out when to commit to resting
Posted by rob, Mon Oct-20-14 06:04 PM
it's the right thing to do for everyone. murray might not like it but he's got a career and retirement to think of. garrett might miss the safety blanket but he needs to start coaching like a winner.

they got 3 perfectly good backs on the roster. they cut another perfectly good back before the season.
2379937, All props due to him...but that O-line deserves just as much props
Posted by vee-lover, Mon Oct-20-14 11:07 AM
Do you see all that time Rome be having to throw the ball?
2380144, whitten blocking his ass off too

2379939, props and I'm shocked that no back had ever done this before...
Posted by LegacyNS, Mon Oct-20-14 11:09 AM
7 100 games to start the season surely doesn't seem impossible especially when you think about how many times teams get off to a host start the 1st half of the year..

2379982, jeremy parnell is a monster.... that helps.

2380184, agreed, but up until last sunday he was Doug Free's backup...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Oct-20-14 05:55 PM
only started one game before, ever.
2380215, I hope the Cowboys rest him for at least three games at some point this season..
Posted by Kira, Mon Oct-20-14 07:46 PM
Every running back that's carried the ball the way Demarco's projected to has declined the next season. I'm not hating at all and hope this continues but I want him healthy for the long haul.
2380226, On pace to become 1st ever 2K rusher averaging less than 5
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Mon Oct-20-14 08:11 PM
yards per carry. 5 of the 7 2K rushers averaged 5.6 or more ypc - 3 of which averaged 6 or more ypc.

Needless to say, Murray is getting them Eddie George reps. I'll give him credit though. He's looked outstanding and is making that offense truly dynamic.
2380230, Jamal Anderson is sitting somewhere with a dry S-curl mad at this post
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Oct-20-14 08:24 PM
He knows what's coming up for Demarco
2380268, It's definitely a feat, props to that front-line too. They are grinding
Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Oct-20-14 10:13 PM
It's a whole lot of carries and his ypc is sub-5, interesting to see how he holds up.
2381432, bought his o-line new iMacs:
Posted by luvlee2003, Thu Oct-23-14 12:36 PM
pretty sweet.

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4735884/demarco-murray-gives-the-linemen-imacs

IRVING, Texas -- As an act of appreciation for his torrid start, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray purchased an iMac desktop computer for each of the team's five starting offensive linemen.

The computers -- valued at $1,300 each and equipped with 21.5-inch monitors -- awaited Doug Free, Zack Martin, Travis Frederick, Ronald Leary and Tyron Smith in front of their lockers when they arrived Wednesday at the Valley Ranch practice facility.

"Yeah, pretty nice," rookie right guard Martin said. "We just walked in and he gave it to us. It's pretty cool."

Murray leads the NFL with 913 rushing yards, the best mark in franchise history through seven games and sixth-best in league history. After gaining 128 yards Sunday against the New York Giants, he became the first player in NFL history to reach 100 yards in each of the first seven games of a season.

"It's really a collective team effort which is the coolest thing," Martin said. "DeMarco is the guy with the numbers and all that and doing a lot of the work. Up front, tight end, receivers, quarterbacking us in the right looks, it’s really a full team effort."
