And if he's giving credit for Derrick Williams re: recruiting, he probably shouldn't, since Williams was like a fringe top 100 at the time. Reeves Nelson was regarded higher.

Last season, Howland reached East for his bigger recruits, but Zach LaVine is a West Coaster.

I realize that Arizona has "won" the battle of recruiting highly touted West Coasters the last two years, and I consider Miller a big threat on the recruitment trail presently...

... but he hasn't owned the West Coast like that. He got Solomon Hill in 2009, but UCLA's 2009 class was better. He got more of the West Coast last year... but UCLA's class last year was still better, so is that truly a big win? One could argue long term, sure, and I think Miller's future looks brighter than Howland's.
