2174006, Emmanuel Mudiay 2014 PG Looks like the Real Deal

His game is kinda D-Rose like the way he uses his size, strength, and quickness to get to the rack.

Kentucky making impression on top-three junior Emmanuel Mudiay
By Jeff Borzello | Blogger
May 2, 2013 12:14 pm ET

John Calipari and point guards.

It's a combination that has been almost foolproof for the past several years, going from Derrick Rose to Tyreke Evans to John Wall to Brandon Knight to Marquis Teague to, well, we'll stop there.

With top-five prospect Andrew Harrison heading to Lexington this year, eyes are already turning to the 2014 class. And Emmanuel Mudiay could be the next in the prestigious lineage of point guards.

Calipari has already conducted an in-home visit with Mudiay.

“He's a great guy, great coach,” Mudiay said last weekend. “One of the best recruiters there is in the country. He does a good job with his point guards, and that's a big part that I really look into.”

Kentucky brings in arguably the best recruiting class of all time this season, and they're still in the mix for top-ranked senior Andrew Wiggins. But several of them are expected to be one-and-done prospects -- meaning Mudiay could get the keys to the Wildcats' offense from Day 1.

Moreover, Mudiay likes the idea of being surrounded by so much talent.

“You're never going to go there and not think you can win the championship,” he said. “A lot of people try to talk down on him because he's being really successful right now, but he doesn't talk bad about nobody. He worries about his program. He wants to develop his guys, and that's all he cares about.”

Kentucky isn't the only school in pursuit of the 6-foot-4 Prime Prep (Texas) product. Arizona, Louisville, North Carolina, St. John's, SMU, Texas and Kansas are on his list, with Baylor and Oklahoma State visiting Mudiay last month.

“Baylor, that's down the street. Basically about an hour and 15 minutes away from me. Isaiah Austin talks to me about that,” he said. “Oklahoma State, great school. They put Marcus Smart, another good friend of mine, that was in a great position this year. And he played the point guard spot, so that definitely helps.”

One of the top three overall prospects in the junior class, Mudiay has a very high ceiling and could be a future lottery pick. He has terrific size for his position and has the ability to be a matchup nightmare when he uses his size effectively. Mudiay has shown that he can take smaller defenders into the post and use his strength to finish around the basket.

When he does that consistently, Mudiay is nearly impossible to stop.

“Taking no plays off, man. That's one thing I've really been working on,” he said. “Bringing the dog out every game -- that's me. I want to be really competitive when I'm out there. It doesn't matter who's on the court. Being a winner.”

While his list of 10 schools are all in steady contact, Mudiay is not ready to end the recruiting process just yet.

“I'm taking everything slow right now,” he said. “Just waiting things out.”

year to year? I feel like i'd miss that, were i a UK fan.

It's only funny till someone gets mad. Then it's hilarious.

Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Tue Jun-04-13 12:51 PM
I miss watching players spend a few years at UK, but I also dig keeping up and watching them improve even if it's a little bit in the NBA. I can get excited watching Teague get some run at the end of a blow out or following T-Jones NBDL box scores. So even after they go, I keep up and the fact that most of them still follow the squad is great.
2191375, since freshman yr I only had 2 questions about him
Posted by themaddfapper, Tue Jun-04-13 12:36 PM
what would he look like once he physically matured? (answered: impressive)
Can he shoot well enough at the next 2 levels to keep folks honest. (jury's still out)

Of course he fits in perfect at the factory especially w/ towns in the fold. That combo alone along w/ whomever doesn't go (they ALL can't declare) w/ be an elite 8 team off jump.
2191386, Him and Towns in a pick and pop situation could be lethal.

Or Kyrie setting the bar at 5 apg.

2221941, You think Kyrie's getting under 6 dimes per game this season?
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Aug-25-13 11:30 PM
Serious question.

Cuz I'd put money against it if you think that.
2221943, What about 7?
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Aug-25-13 11:43 PM

>Cuz I'd put money against it if you think that.
2221949, Shit, even Lebron gets 7.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Sun Aug-25-13 11:53 PM
2221951, I think he'll do 7, yeah.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 12:06 AM
Honestly, I'd be more hesitant to BET on 7 than 6. I'd bet an exorbitant amount on 6. I'd bet on 6.5 too.

He did 5.4 first year, 5.9 second year. I expect with this improved roster for him to be right around 7, low 7s... I'd be very surprised if he did any less than 6.75 this year.
2221954, So will you or won't you bet on 7?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Aug-26-13 12:31 AM
2221955, Nah.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 12:54 AM
I think he'll do it, but since I think he'll do right around 7, I don't feel like losing money if he does 24 ppg, playoff berth, and 6.9 dimes, lol.
2221995, Do you want to be on the playoff berth?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Aug-26-13 09:33 AM
2222014, I'm good.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 11:08 AM
I learned a while ago not to bet on playoff berths. The wrong player's ACL and you're cooked.
2222162, will he play 60+ games?

2222173, What am I, Miss Cleo?
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 05:20 PM
He should, but who the hell knows? I sure as hell ain't making a bet in which someone will root for my dude to get hurt, lmao.
2222084, LOLi dont think you have to worry about that happening

>I think he'll do it, but since I think he'll do right around
>7, I don't feel like losing money if he does 24 ppg, playoff
>berth, and 6.9 dimes, lol.
2222091, Which do you think is the stretch?
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 01:21 PM
Surely not 24, as that's not a big leap at all. And 6.9 is only one dime more than his average last year.

I guess you mean playoff berth. I understand skepticism there based on last season.
2222166, well i was going to say playoff berth
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Aug-26-13 04:59 PM
but looking at it, anyone who says they know how the 7, 8 seeds in the EC are gonna shake out is lying

could be any 2 out of Raptors, Hawks, and Cavs
2221944, Not sure, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he did.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Sun Aug-25-13 11:44 PM
2221994, kyrie gettin 7+ and Wall STILL won't be a 45% shooter
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Aug-26-13 09:28 AM
2221993, kyrie better than every PG to ever wear a UK uniform.
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Aug-26-13 09:27 AM
so, i ain't even gotta get into how johnny was better than anything you had before rondo.

kyrie cancels all this. and that's the beauty of that kid. i don't even have to have this discussion with you. he flat out better.

your feelings cooked because bronze brown actually made that kid really think about what cal offers and what's he's produced and MADE SENSE.

and when AD and wall ain't all-stars this year, it's gettin mentioned in AAU circles and the other bluebloods will be stating that FACT like a damn over and over like a mongorian chant.
2222038, Lol....you mad as shit fam. I love LB. LB & Cal are like peas & carrots.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Aug-26-13 12:04 PM
Would I like to get every recruit? Sure.

But we have classes that aren't made or broken on 1 guy.

And all that other bullshit you're writing are just hurt feelings.

Nobody cares about Kyrie and his 18-64 season.

Go cry and worry about your own recruiting classes.

Niggaz so upset they throw a parade when Cal misses a recruit like he ain't had the #1 class every year since he been at UK.
2222072, whatever. he was your big get for 2014. you was cysed.
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Aug-26-13 12:48 PM
it's over now.

there's a parade whenever duke loses...ANYTHING.

so, you can't even win at being hated and envied.
2222073, Dude, you were cheesing when he chose SMU.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Aug-26-13 12:55 PM
He was one of our big gets. Just like Wiggins was.

We just move on.

Nobody cares who you're recruiting. Sorry.

Dudes (you included) obviously care about our big board, I'm sure you know who we've offered. I can't say the same for Duke.

2222082, This thread has now escalated to ridiculousness.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Aug-26-13 01:10 PM
We've got "UK won't be a top recruit-getter soon" and "nobody knows or cares who Duke is recruiting" getting tossed around. Good grief. I'm out.

2222246, because that's a lie
Posted by Basaglia, Mon Aug-26-13 09:28 PM

we are now engaged in this epic battle BECAUSE *YOU* cared. you came at me, just like all the others (warren, that meathead football schooler, etc.) only thing is your team has actually sustained my interest by being a threat, which i mos definitely give y'all credit for. but, i don't go around hatin on UK on other boards or in real life. just here. because of you. so, don't act like you talking from on high. shit, once cal bounces, you niggas will be back to signing top 150 wings and fat country ass bigs. and i won't care again, because you'll have shut smooth the fuck up like you did my first 6 years on this board.
2222284, Nah...
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Tue Aug-27-13 06:59 AM
You were the one that's pressed and envious. And it's weird cuz we don't play each other. It just oozes and you can't let it be.

Me and Write Serengeti and the Louisville Cards? That was caring, but more so for the fun of it. But they're the champs now. So I care more again.

Me and the Gators fans, I hated the Gators for a good 2 years. But I cared cuz that's our rivals.

Me and the Vols fans? I care mildly, because we're in the same conference.

UNC fans? I care a little bit, because we played every year.

Kansas? Nope.

Duke? Only like to beat them when we play them. Don't care about anything else. Who they get. What they do. How far they go. Who doesn't get drafted.

You make it an issue. Trying to make somebody care about players who's professional careers that will only be covered in newspapers that also have a Goat Selling section and will come back to be Duke Assistant coaches.

envious of what? i. am. a. duke. fan.

And it's weird
>cuz we don't play each other. It just oozes and you can't let
>it be.

you must not be paying attention. if you come at me, i'm going right back, until i get tired of you. i already said UK's success in recent years has allowed you to sustain my interest. i wasn't taking you seriously when you was talkin and y'all was sorry, dogg. you came at me with sidetalk for YEARS.

>Me and Write Serengeti and the Louisville Cards? That was
>caring, but more so for the fun of it. But they're the champs
>now. So I care more again.

yeah. that's how it works. no reason to be bothered by them when they not a threat.

>Me and the Gators fans, I hated the Gators for a good 2 years.

>

obviously. this is a lie, because you've spoken directly to those topics since we been going at it.

>You make it an issue. Trying to make somebody care about
>players who's professional careers that will only be covered

if you didn't care, you wouldn't care, dogg. if you hadn't opened your mouth about ANY of your players being better than kyrie, LET ALONE BRANDON KNIGHT, i wouldn't party of your players failures as much as i do. but, i enjoy making everybody laugh at your guys' expense. you've earned it. you wanted my attention and you got it. don't act above it all now. you in it, dude.

and i'mma be partying again in feb. 2014 with a big ass NO ALL STARS thread.
2222314, Fam, You're the ONLY ONE I UK Stunt on Like I'm Shabba Shabba Ranks.

I Stunt and Post about UK throwing ZERO SHOTS.

I don't Stunt on Frank. Frank can post about being a Duke fan until he's blue in the face.

Guru. Does the same with the Buckeyes. I'm not all up in his posts.

Cuse fans. The same.

KCPlayer. The same with his Jayhawks. Even when we played in the title game that wasn't much.

UNC fans. Only when they mention Wildcats. That's the same for Bennytenstack & Will.

Shit that's the same for anybody posting. 9/10 I'm replying if it involves present or former Wildcats.

You though? All you have to do is "Say my name....say my name" (c)Mos Def

And I'm there.

So don't give me some woe is me, you're the target type shit.

You mentioned Brandon Knight in regards to Kyrie. And I'm there.

You could've easily just went on digging Kyrie. But you chose to engage.

And this is what you get...

2222335, your problem is you have nothing to stunt with...
Posted by Basaglia, Tue Aug-27-13 10:16 AM
you think you in this by sheer volume of AIGHT dudes...nah, young. GET A STAR.

we had two all-stars in consecutive years. y'all haven't. simple as that.

and you gotta deal with hood and jabari next. then tyus and oak.

by the time oak get there, crazy cuz STILL won't be what we all know he can be...Cause he CRAZY. wall still will be undisciplined. bledsoe still gonna be a broke lowry. knight still gonna be delk II. gilly my dogg, but, yanno...let's be honest...working hard ain't everything. i hope he beasts, because i'm on the hook with other folks for cysing him, but damn he jive weak.

AD your ONLY guy i look at and go "yeah...he good"

i ain't never had a problem riding for a UK dude. but you will sit and swear a UK dude is better than a CLEARLY better duke player just because YOU MAD. as far as i'm concerned, you should've apologized to me for even SUGGESTING knight was on kyrie level. but, you just gon try to put it to the side on the sly and focus on wall...but, when i called out wall, you acted like it was ABSURD...well, now look at you. tryna convince people to ride with you over 2 damn assists...LMAO...pathetic.

anyway. you mad bronze brown got one. and it was funny. you was cysed...LMAO!!!
2222341, Yes, that's my problem. I have NOBODY to stunt with.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Tue Aug-27-13 10:40 AM
Yet you make 20 Kyrie posts.

Nobody cares about them bum niggaz on Duke now. Sorry.

Nobody cares about Austin either. Sorry.

That's why you're so focused on Kyrie. You should be happy with that and sit in the corner and chill.

Me? I have a long list of niggaz to ride for that are good. Some going to be great. And one that's already great.

And more on the way.

Sorry.

That's why I'm secure with riding for my dudes without trying to generate hype or hate for them.

Sorry.

And you still haven't been able to point out or show anywhere that I'm mad LB got Mudiay to go SMU.

We're not the same fam.

"What's the difference between Me & You?" (c)Dre

Dudes pick other schools (Shabazz, Wiggins, Mudiay, Jabari) and I keep it moving. Wish them the best. Probably won't follow them, but it's all good.

Dudes pick other schools (Harrison) and you get legitimately MAD and feel slighted and try to take it out on them forever and ever.

Sorry.

2222342, yes...that's why i'm so focused on kyrie. he make y'all mad
Posted by Basaglia, Tue Aug-27-13 10:52 AM
you saying stuff i've already admitted.

i could be cysing deng you like try to cyse ANY of your AIGHT dudes, but he ain't a "real" star...all-star, not a REAL STAR...just like you don't have a REAL STAR. you got some nice young players...like 3 if we being really real. the rest are filler.

so, i cyse kyrie...for multiple reasons. people partied and now some try to be friends and others just mad and throw shade. i go at BOTH. i ain't lettin nobody be friends and i ain't lettin nobody off the hook. y'all gonna have to hear about him. period.

i already made a thread explaining that kyrie just a bridge to jabari, hood, tyus and oak...that's when it's gonna get REAL FUNNY on this board.

when that onslaught comes, you gonna be busy making posts about why won't randle's coach let him play SF.

the harrisons weak as hell. young weak. dakari is hibbert at best. cauley stein...you know damn well he soft. won't even be javale-like. you thought you'd have mudiay coming right behind harrison giving you dat high-powered big PG tandem. DENIED. you stuck with the FUGAZI part of that tandem. and when you watching harrison be dumb in halfcourt and can't shoot and mudiay beast in the L in 3 years...it's gonna be so bad for you.

cry.
2222348, Dude, nobody cares about any of them dudes. You care....
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Tue Aug-27-13 10:59 AM
that's why you're in this post now. Lol.

Like we on the verge of some Duke NBA Renaissance. Nigga if you don't go grab a Supersized RC Cola and sit on a park bench somewhere.

And Randle has you mad too. ALREADY. Him being mentioned ahead of Jabari has your blood boiling.

Shit.

Jabari's good. You'll be alright.

Non-agenda talk, what's your take on Tyler Ulis? I would guess only You, Geah, and FromTheGo would know anything about him.

Saw the clip of him playing against Tyus. He can shoot, but Tyus made that nigga look like miniature.

Cal likes him though. And after Harrow, I guess he doesn't think he's frail and scared like Harrow. He doesn't have any wasted dribbling like Harrow either.
