Apparently, in bowling circles, an 8 series is when you bowl 3 straight games where your total exceeds 800. i know nothing about that, so let's focus on what i do know. WHO THE FUCK CAN BOWL A 279?

Anyway, I figured I'd make a post congratulating him. If he's being honest, it's a hell of an accomplishment. If this is some weird Ceej UP humor shit, we can all clown him.

most registered, top 3 in alleys/lanes/leagues

have you done sport before? I've done sport tourneys but not leagues. My best avg for a sport tourney was 160 whereas my book avg was 180/185 on regular patterns.

Jackpotwise I'm usually good for a couple hundred a month.

I can do $1,000 in a night if the chips fall. The problem is I bowl with some Gs so basically if its not 279 youre gettin lucky if you win.

I was in a Sport Step Ladder league. So you bowled 3 games a week, top 5 scores bowled in step ladder finals like on tv. I won twice, once from the 5 seed and once from the 1 seed. The absolute hardest shots I've ever had. I think I averaged 195 and it was a mad struggle every single week.

how does making money at a bowling alley work?

my girl's dad is retired but he makes all his money hustling golf (he's like 65 and still a scratch or better) and betting horses.

i'm always so fuckin jealous.

in the leagues. I'd be happy to just get my money back in the leagues, but they are loads of fun so there's that.

The money makers are the tournaments, imo.

Money I make is jackpots within the league.

1 good game can get u at least $600 if you're in the right pots

I got a ring for 299 and then some trophy for another one like I want to remember those games. It's like a dick punch everytime I see em.

and 800 is far, far, FAR harder than rolling a perfect game. talkin 24-27 strikes out of 30 tosses at least.

I was awful last season but finished 4th in our individual round robin (of which rules I've never understood) and picked up an extra $100. I couldn't even dream of being on point enough to roll an 800 series, that's impressive.

You need to average like 235 for 5 straight years and do some qualifying and get sponsors. There are local pro circuits or regional ones you could do and it's basically like the ESPN pros on a smaller scale

i bowled a lot last year and have been trying to beat my high score of 184 for a long time now.

i usually don't hook it unless i'm going for the corner pins. if i want to start bowling in the 200 range do i need to learn the hook? if so, any pointers?

Bowling with a hook will def increase your chances of striking more consistently. It also takes a lot of practice to master. I bowled for years as a straight bowler (@140 avg) but my boys all had their own gear and were in leagues which motivated me to get serious.

So I'd say get your own ball...Balls at your local pro shop are designed to hook..the ball does all the work you just have to learn to control it. If you are a beginner you can get a low-end ball likely in the low $100's. It will be a good beginner ball because it will be easier to learn with. The ball will also be drilled perfectly for your hands as well.

From there its all about practice...Once I got my ball we were bowling 4/5 x a week. It was an obsession lol. Slowly but surely you will get better though.

ideally i'd like to get a clear one with a rose in the middle like bill murray's in kingpin. i'll see what i can find...
