The Knicks are championship contenders, right? They're built to win now. The Bulls and Sixers aren't.

2140513, I saw the jersey grab Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Mar-03-13 06:10 PM
But that's a part of the game you don't just chop someone. That's just juvenile
|
2140516, You said it, part of the game. Happens on every single play. Posted by haj20, Sun Mar-03-13 06:11 PM
|
2140518, Pretty much. Jerseys get grabbed in the paint on damn near every play Posted by LA2Philly, Sun Mar-03-13 06:12 PM
Can't tomahawk someone's nuts in a physical game just because your jersey is being grabbed.
|
2140528, this was not my implication at all. Posted by rob, Sun Mar-03-13 06:22 PM
my implication was that blake plays the mean post game without conviction. he's not prepared for the kind of game post defenders will bring to him in the crunch. he's ticky tack fouling on every play (like everyone does) but not a force.
the (much less talented) guy who fouled him is gonna get punished later on but is still blocking shots at the end of a win against another contender.
it's why blake doesn't look like a champion or an mvp to me.
i would have been okay if he got angry and gone out with some fouls of consequence. i would have been okay if he smartened up and said "ok now they're definitely watching, i need to help my team win here." he chose to grab some jerseys and halfpush thabo on his way to the bench and the l.

2140562, he's got a fantastic skillset Posted by themaddfapper, Sun Mar-03-13 07:40 PM
but he had a play where he hit a 3, came down on d, and somehow left someone open by 20 feet.
dumb rookie shit, but ambidextrous, post game, runs the floor, hits the three, and a good interior passer?
not bad for a 20 pick.
thomas robinson. they're gonna have to strip down everything he thinks he knows about basketball save for running, dunking, and rebounding. EVERYTHING ELSE has to go. I guess the hoops einstein that is bill self doesn't teach screen setting.
and as I'm watching, robinson passes to beverly, the lane is wide open, so robinson decides to hang at the 3 pt line while his teammate is trapped. smh he's just hoops stupid.
and Truth has completely fucked Darren Collison's juju. He's getting abused.
|
2140570, yep yelled at my tv on that same play Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Mar-03-13 07:51 PM
> >and as I'm watching, robinson passes to beverly, the lane is >wide open, so robinson decides to hang at the 3 pt line while >his teammate is trapped. smh he's just hoops stupid.
That was a dunk if he just cut hard.
That 1st dunk he got is what we need. We need him to just be a Bamma, run, jump, and hustle. We can build up from there.
These defensive rotations are atrocious.

2140581, when do you want to address your squads FT issues? Posted by themaddfapper, Sun Mar-03-13 08:06 PM
cause they stay giving points away.
|
2140582, I dunno man....its kinda weird were mid pack % wise Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Mar-03-13 08:10 PM
right behind the Knicks statistically and a large part of that is skewed by Asik.
Id have to look at the numbers tho. From memory Im thinking the games we win---we shoot really well and get "excessive" ft pts, but i can attribute a number of our losses to bad ft shooting.
|
2140583, how much you wanna bet that 3rd qtr Lin gets < 4 pt,reb, ass Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Mar-03-13 08:12 PM
the 3rd qtr for whatever reason is his kryptonite.
Id love it if someone in houston media addressed how bad he is in the 3rd.
Dude will be at 10 and 6 going into half and im like okay, we can almost double that and its a decent game....
NOPE ends 3rd qtr at 11 and 6.

2140608, relax he traded nick batum for joey dorsey too Posted by southphillyman, Sun Mar-03-13 08:57 PM
and traded two lotto picks (technically) for a dude who looks like a certified bust so far parsons is a nice player and all but honestly anything pass pick 15 is basically a crap shoot much less 2nd rounders
|
2140612, you want parsons next 2 yrs at 1.8m, or batum's at 20m? Posted by themaddfapper, Sun Mar-03-13 09:05 PM
|
2140626, wat...batum isn't on a rookie contract Posted by southphillyman, Sun Mar-03-13 09:27 PM
obviously you take parsons at that money but a comparison is not even the point just that drafting is an inexact science , especially at the later picks
|
2140636, right. he isn't on a rookie contract Posted by themaddfapper, Sun Mar-03-13 09:49 PM
however if he's with the rockets and does what he did in portland, if morey gets into a bidding war with someone over him, he's then stuck at that price.
instead of compounding the "mistake" of trading batum for dorsey, by not having a wingman of batum's approximate talents by 2013, now he's got one who for the money and production, is a push if not better.
and peep the 2nd rounders he's drafted: landry budinger parsons scola
they've obviously got a knack for finding value there. partly why marcus morris was moved. that phx pick might yield something in the high 30's.

Then to open the 2nd, turnovers and 3's...we were on the brink of going down big but Blake made a great play with the shot clock running down and Jamison caught fire. Metta didn't see any action in the 2nd, lets keep it that way for the 4th.
Dwight is missin some absolute gimmies man, but on the other end, Teague has missed some open looks.
Keep the fucking turnovers under control and we'll be alright.

2140700, nah, that wasn't on Josh. Posted by ne_atl, Mon Mar-04-13 12:04 AM
Unless you want criticize him for not handling a bad pass. Devin passed that too high and too late.
|
2140705, Not sure how that's on Smith. That pass was late and floated Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Mar-04-13 12:07 AM
Allowed Clark to recover just enough to get his hand in from behind and once Josh bobbled and started falling out of bounds (with no timeouts), it was going to be a tough possession.
|
2140766, I have to watch the pass again but looked good to me Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Mon Mar-04-13 08:32 AM
>Allowed Clark to recover just enough to get his hand in from >behind and once Josh bobbled and started falling out of bounds >(with no timeouts), it was going to be a tough possession.
I tried finding it just now but of course every recently uploaded Josh Smith highlight on youtube is of him getting yammed on.
My thing is you know the play coming out of the time out and you know you have a good shot of getting the ball. You have to be prepared to make that catch. Just like in football they get on wrs for not grabbing a ball that hit him in the hands. He had to make that play. Then on the catch, with his athleticism, he was still in a position to just go up. If he was ready it couldve been a quick drop step even with the initial bobble. Ron was on his hip.
Update: (found a shitty highlight from yahoo) Dwight had a canopy over him so there was a slight chance of at least getting a call ( even tho they dont always make that oen end game). The attempt to pass it out was just pathetic he didnt even look. He had horford a foot away. Im sure it was hard to see him in the traffic, but the ball just being thrown out blindly...eh
I thought he was closer to being out of bounds but he really wasnt that close.
I monday morning QBacking, but it wasnt on Devin. That pass wasnt necessarily a bulet but given the angle he had, it was rigt where it needed to be. Only maybe a nanosecond too late.
Lets not even talk about his 0-6 from the line since thats a different play.
|
2140695, It's all off the damn Korver down screen action Posted by LA2Philly, Sun Mar-03-13 11:59 PM

|
2140699, You forgot the most egregious thing: turnovers Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Mar-04-13 12:02 AM
Turn the ball over 21 times against one of the best fast break teams in the league...I think ATL had 25 points off turnovers.

27ppg on 47% FG, 5 rebs, 5 asts
but more than that, he's moving so well. he's fast. his vertical is still there. he's attacking the basket. his endurance is ridiculous, playing 38 minutes a game
appreciate this shit, man. for real
|
2140711, Moreso than age, it's the amount of mileage Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Mar-04-13 12:15 AM
17th year plus all those playoff games...and dude is still cranking. He's a testament to what mental and physical commitment can do for a player.
|
2140702, Haven't seen Kobe's legs this spry for 7-8 years Posted by LA2Philly, Mon Mar-04-13 12:04 AM
Moreso than the dunking, his first step is the most telling thing...dude is QUICK right now. I don't know how this dude does it...all that mileage and he's turning back the clock physically somehow.

2140715, a reporter just asked him how he's doing this Posted by laizquierda, Mon Mar-04-13 12:24 AM

I really wonder if he's doing something different this year during his post-game recovery
