Namely that there are entire regions of the country that ignore the NBA and would ignore it no matter who was running the players union. There is no region of the country that ignores the NFL. There are pockets where MLB doesn't register, but its still a national game for the most part. The NBA is far more regional, like college football.

And while the NBA may have more marketable stars, the NFL has a better and more marketable product
