1939126, how good is Draymond Green going to be in the NBA?
Posted by nighttripper, Fri Mar-16-12 10:32 PM
I'm asking sincerely, I don't even know
but he's been my favorite player in college basketball for a few years now

I should be more specific, I guess...I'm wondering how high do you think he gets picked, and then what's his career ceiling to you
1939141, D-league

1939143, he is no z-bo, thats for sure.
Posted by s_dot_miles, Fri Mar-16-12 10:43 PM
i see him being like d.blair on the spurs, aka, a solid undersized big that can come off the bench and bang.
1939146, he's a lot craftier than Blair, though
Posted by nighttripper, Fri Mar-16-12 10:45 PM
I see him scoring more than that
1939150, his scoring will be based on his minutes
Posted by s_dot_miles, Fri Mar-16-12 10:48 PM
and i dont see him as a starter or 6th man, so...
1939151, he will get drafted mid to late round and play on a contender...
Posted by Prodiqal_Son, Fri Mar-16-12 10:48 PM
he will be a solid pro that comes off the bench and contribute (think a more skilled Brian Cardinal).
2507057, well...he is playin a contender :)
Posted by Prodiqal_Son, Mon Jan-04-16 04:44 PM
1939158, Love him too, but he'll have less success than mateen Cleaves
Posted by calminvasion, Fri Mar-16-12 10:53 PM
His towel waiving game is probably tight too.

No hate at all, just would be shocked if he's still on an nba roster in 3 yrs. not big enough to be an undersized 4, e doesn't play in the post at all. Nothing close to the athletic ability required to play on perimeter
2176358, well he proved that wrong in a week...doesnt say much for Choppers
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue May-07-13 11:31 AM
1939195, Decent 8th man at the most
Posted by Ill Jux, Fri Mar-16-12 11:27 PM
though i will root for him
1939196, tremendous upside depnds on who drafts him

Don't listen to these clowns..dude is legit...
1939280, I hope so
Posted by nighttripper, Sat Mar-17-12 09:06 AM
I mean, it's not like I was thinking he'd be a superstar, but I was figuring he's got enough skills and hustle to get good minutes at the 3 or the 4, despite the um, unconventional body type and the lack of athleticism.

And here I come and get 'd league' and 'not on a roster 3 years from now' answers (that one hurt, calm, haha). Kinda sad because to me he's the most entertaining player to watch in the tourney right now. So I hope you're the one who's right in here (and I guess we both copped a few Draymond Green shares just now).
1939292, i had him in fantasy..and watched a lot of his games...he was always the best
Posted by LAbeathustla, Sat Mar-17-12 10:10 AM
best player on the floor in most of the games i watched...he always has good numbers in pts rebs and assts for a big dude...so i'm thinkin it just depends on who gets him and how he fits in with their game plan...but i think with his skill set hes going to make a mark where ever
1939352, Tremendous upside is a HUUUUGE stretch
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sat Mar-17-12 12:15 PM
Hes a great college player wo won't translate to the pros and tehre isnt anything worng with that. At the college level he can do a bit pf everything and has a great motor. However he's too small to play PF in the pros and not quick enough to play SF in the pros.

He'll really struggle to finish against NBA players who are bigger, stronger, and more athletic.

Theres been a handful of guys like him over the years who have been great college basketball players because of their strength but that gets negated in teh NBA because they are also tweeners.

he doesnt necessarily have to be total garbage, but a role player at best.

Guys like Sam Young, Craig Smith, Jared Dudley, Lou Roe, Danny Fortson, Gary Trent. Fortson and Trent were bigger but not as skilled all around.

You have other examples at different positions like Mateen cleaves and Khalid El Emin

but yea hes one of the best players in college basketball

1939357, look at fat fetus, though
Posted by nighttripper, Sat Mar-17-12 12:25 PM
sure, his career is on a serious downswing right now, but the inflated infant was a more-than-decent contributor, 6th man type on those Celtics contending teams for more than 3 years. And this is where my lack of basketball knowledge may be showing, but it seems to me Draymond is more versatile and just plain better than the wide whippersnapper. He's smarter and less emo, that's for sure.
1939466, Bad comparison. Baby is 6-9, 270...legit PF size
Posted by Kajun, Sat Mar-17-12 07:29 PM
He is not tweener at all, he just can't jump high so he might seem like one.

But his size, unlike Draymond, is legit for an NBA PF.

Also, Baby averaged 19 and 10 as a sophomore for a Final Four team at LSU. He had NBA size and talent from the jump.
1942902, Baby is not even close to 6'9
Posted by AlBundy, Fri Mar-23-12 12:04 AM

Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sat Mar-17-12 02:55 PM
Thats just the beginnibg
1939381, Pretty much, it's possible he'll have sig impact in league
Posted by calminvasion, Sat Mar-17-12 01:35 PM
But I would be shocked based on any reasonable Comps. He's also 6'6" tops, that + lack of foot speed, and he's not all that big spells no long for the L. Love him as a college player though, wouldn't be shocked to see him as a strong college coach in 10-15 yrs.

Injuries are what stopped him

He was a dbl-dbl guy before he started repeatedly breaking his foot
2506568, just a cheesy nitpicky thing but fortson was better than those guys
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jan-03-16 09:20 AM
he was a very good rebounder in the pros until injuries made him fizzle out.

Honestly, I don't care as long as he and my boys keep winning :)

But, I do believe he will get drafted :)

since I didn't go to school here, I don't have any college affiliation except by proxy through the mrs...she went to Hampton and Ohio State. So I root for these two first, but then I've always liked Izzo's teams.

Posted by ChuckNeal, Sat Mar-17-12 10:37 AM
He's a 6'6 power forward w/o top level athleticism. Basically, he's an average tweener. Maybe he gets picked or works his way into the league and becomes a solid bench player later on his career?
1939298, Early 2nd, late 1st if MSU makes Final Four.

Bamma Factor means he'll stick in the league.

Golden State is pretty much the perfect situation for him.

That said, his hard work (he's knocking down threes after shooting like 20% in the reg season) and high bball IQ have earned him a spot in the rotation.

He had 16 and 11 in game 6 against Denver.

I can definitely see him coaching after 10 years in the league. He's already leading the team in prayer after games.

He was def the best player in the country his senior year (2011-12).

"I think he's the best player in the country. Is he the best potential player in the country? No, I take the kid probably from Kentucky (Anthony Davis). But if I had to take a kid right now to win a national championship, I'd take Draymond Green." - Rick Majerus

He and Z Bo are repping MSU well.
