748766, Loki Season 2

The first season is one of the best things to come from the MCU post ENDGAME. This looks even better. Can't wait.

October 6th.
748768, Told myself after Secret Invasion I was done with Marvel shows

I swear if this wind up being goofy I'm going to mean it this time
748769, lol.

my favorite of the Disney+ MCU content so far. Performances were really good - the music score was incredible, as was the cinematography. The story was really well done and left the perfect amount of mystery going into season 2 while still paying off a lot in season 1.

748776, The more fantastical series bring a little more to the overall MCU.
Posted by JFrost1117, Mon Jul-31-23 09:58 PM
Falcon/Winter Soldier was kind of a bummer, and they pretty much dropped the ball on Secret Invasion, but Loki was pretty fun and set some high stakes (that were fumbled by Quantumania).

Kinda glad they’re not trying to hide J. Majors.
749195, re: Kinda glad they’re not trying to hide J. Majors.
Posted by normal35762, Fri Oct-06-23 02:00 PM
Yep. I'm glad too.
748777, dope that theyre continuing kangs storyline straight from quantumania.

749194, Yep.
Posted by normal35762, Fri Oct-06-23 01:59 PM
749204, So I need to watch Quantumania first?
Posted by Hitokiri, Mon Oct-09-23 08:48 AM
I started that movie a few months ago, and fell asleep. Tried watching it again a couple days later and it just wasn't holding my interest.
I really liked Loki season 1 though, but sounds like I gotta go back and watch that movie...?
749205, Nope. Not at all.
Posted by bwood, Mon Oct-09-23 09:00 AM
This is more or less Loki Season 2 instead of a sequel/tie-in to Ant-Man 3.
749258, Not a must, but I'd recommend it

to further the understanding of everything that's being dealt with.
749188, Hope this season is as strong as the first

Let's get it
749190, Alright. Off to a great start
Posted by bwood, Thu Oct-05-23 09:02 PM
Thank God it's still weird and fun. Have no idea where any of this is going.
749198, Off to a good start

So many easter eggs
749200, Had to watch a 2nd time.
Posted by JFrost1117, Sat Oct-07-23 12:18 AM
Like said above, we're off to a great start. I love OB already. Hopefully, he has a bigger role than just this episode.
749207, This.

749209, FACTS on OB. Instant favorite.
Posted by soulfunk, Mon Oct-09-23 12:42 PM
I think he's being set up for something big. Notice how no one else in the TVA remembers the past, but he remembers everything going back to the beginning. He wrote the guide book. I think he has somehow a higher level of importance along with He Who Remains and Miss Minutes.
749211, Good point

749229, Episode 2.
Posted by normal35762, Fri Oct-13-23 02:52 PM
Seems like a slow burner but good.

Who was the brother in the white sitting by himself in the TVA room right before Sylvie left? Thelonious Monk? When I got up to the tv a little closer I saw Sylvie wearing an ankh earing in her left ear? What is the meaning of that? I saw one video of a guy breaking down all types of stuff down in the Loki ep but he didn't touch on that. Maybe because is style was to have a reference point to the things he touches on?
749259, Episode 3 was so good
Posted by Lach, Fri Oct-20-23 08:33 AM
Majors' acting is a breath of fresh air in Marvel to me.
749260, Accents aren’t his strong suit.
Posted by JFrost1117, Fri Oct-20-23 10:16 AM
It’d be dope if they got a new variant of him to kill each week, just to see how weird he can get.

Miss Minutes being hungry for the D was a weird choice, and now she’s a woman scorned.
749265, My take on Miss Minutes was that
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Oct-20-23 03:44 PM
she was jealous of Renslayer and wanted to be a partner with He Who Remains. And she knows she can't be a full "partner" without a human body.

This episode ended with sort of a cliffhanger with Miss Minutes telling Renslayer that she knew a secret that would make her angry. We know from Episode 2 and the recording Mobius heard that HWR at some point did see Renslayer as a partner (the quote was something like "it's an honor to lead with you.) We can also assume that at some point that partnership ended, with him wiping her memory and placing her into the TVA. So maybe her secret has to do with how HWR broke up with her, demoted her, and wiped her memory.

>Miss Minutes being hungry for the D was a weird choice, and
>now she’s a woman scorned.
749263, I loved this episode.
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Oct-20-23 12:46 PM
Majors was hamming it up and I dug every bit of it. Being able to portrait different variants of the same character spread across time and branches has got to be fun.
749264, Good ep.
Posted by normal35762, Fri Oct-20-23 02:42 PM
Looks like its picking up. Will watch again tonite.
749308, Episode 4 is wild!
Posted by bwood, Thu Oct-26-23 09:02 PM
Super abrupt cliffhanger.
749310, Seriously. Ep 4 took me back to peak MCU times.
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Oct-27-23 03:49 AM
And probably the best MCU tv series episode yet.
749316, just jaw dropping. Oh man it was so good
Posted by Lach, Fri Oct-27-23 03:08 PM
I've never been so hyped for the next episode in one of the disney plus series.
749322, I’m wondering…
Posted by JFrost1117, Sun Oct-29-23 03:33 PM
With VT & OB’s past relationship, could OB be a portion of VT and HWR?

Also,:

Renslayer is a cold piece. They didn’t have to keep the gushy, dripping sounds in there like that.

Sylvie not realizing she’s a god was weird writing or weird for her to forget.
749323, I mentioned something about this in post 15 after Ep 1...
Posted by soulfunk, Mon Oct-30-23 08:10 AM
>With VT & OB’s past relationship, could OB be a portion of
>VT and HWR?

There's definitely some connection between OB and HWR. His memory has never been wiped, and the two of them together essentially created the TVA and the loom. OB could be a HWR variant, or possibly the real HWR.

>Renslayer is a cold piece. They didn’t have to keep the
>gushy, dripping sounds in there like that.

This was seriously one of the best/worst deaths I've seen on TV. Everything about it...the foreshadowing/setup with Brad having been in the box before when Loki interrogated him, which added to his own terror and sense of survival in his decision to go with Renslayer (along with us in the audience, because we knew exactly what was happening without having to see it), Dox's last words to Renslayer which were GANGSTA, Miss Minutes's entire vibe of being so goddy about what she was seeing, and like you said, the dripping sound (which was still there when B-15 came back!)

>Sylvie not realizing she’s a god was weird writing or weird
>for her to forget.

I didn't think it was that weird - first because Sylvie never really got to rule as a god...she was adopted into the family and then was taken by the TVA as a child. Second because it's not really the same thing, being one of many lowercase "g" gods of Asgard vs. the phrase "Playing God" which is a reference to a monotheistic supreme God making life or death decisions for the universe.
749372, Episode 5
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Nov-03-23 01:41 PM
Loving this show. This episode wasn't as amazing as episode 4, but was a great setup for the finale next week.

I really hope OB shows up in some other MCU content somehow. He's been my favorite character this season by far. His office/study in the 90s looks to be the start of what would become the TVE in the "real world". And taking that idea further, it looks like Loki was always the person who actually founded the TVA with the gathering of the group we see here, though all of that was likely set in motion by HWR. The "snake eating it's tail" bootstrap paradox seems to be the basis for everything in this multi-verse...
749377, yeah this all seems planned by HWR
Posted by Lach, Sat Nov-04-23 08:08 AM
Even tho Loki and Silvie thought they were doing things their way, it appears everything is going as intended. I can't wait for Thursday. Gonna be a Marvel day for me. Seeing the Marvels that afternoon and Loki finale that night. Curious to see if/how the Marvels tie in.
749374, This is what the MCU needs more
Posted by bwood, Fri Nov-03-23 08:10 PM
Weird and heartfelt. It feels like they get to do what they want here.
749393, Agreed.
Posted by spades, Tue Nov-07-23 01:17 PM
Fuck the main continuity, just give me all this weird and interesting stuff. I don't need anything else.
749416, I think that might have been a series finale
Posted by bwood, Thu Nov-09-23 10:51 PM
I hope not but if so, this is definitely the best Marvel project post-ENDGAME

Shit. It may be one of the best things from Marvel period.
749439, I definitely think it was.
Posted by soulfunk, Sat Nov-11-23 09:10 AM
It made the series a perfect loop, ending where it started. Same title as the premier - Glorious Purpose. Loki’s story in the premier started with the end of Avengers when he was a villain seeking a throne. Series ends with Loki actually getting a throne, but as a hero who is sacrificing his own life on the timeline to “rule” over the multiverse literally holding it all together and with no one even knowing of his eternal sacrifice.
749417, Where does Hiddleston’s Loki rank in GOAT on-screen comic characters?
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Nov-09-23 11:05 PM
He’s got serious comp just within his own camp, as Marvel several home runs in RDJ’s Iron Man, Chadwick’s Black Panther, Evans’ Cap, Hemsworth’s Thor, and Holland’s Spider Man.

I’m not talking about their movies per se, but their overall portrayals.

Hiddleston’s body of work as Loki is damn near spotless, and his overall story is about as compelling as anything I can think of in the genre.

He arguably has the best executed character portrayal in the genre, and I’m not sure anyone else is all that close. Boseman probably has the performance that’s hardest to replicate.

At first thought, this was a tough one.

I’m not sure it’s all that tough the more I think about it.
749420, That series was great. I don’t want it to end but
Posted by calij81, Fri Nov-10-23 04:16 AM
That is probably the end for this series, however, I am sure we will see Loki again.

Great performances from the entire cast on this series.

Loki is the GOAT anti hero.
749435, It STILL seems like it's going as HWR planned
Posted by Lach, Fri Nov-10-23 08:02 PM
When he knew Loki would save him in the elevator that gave reason to pause.
But my favorite part of that episode was when HWR paused and was like "how long you been doing this?" That whole convo. Mannnn
749436, I could have watched 30 minutes of them doing an
Posted by calij81, Fri Nov-10-23 11:32 PM
Inside the Sacred Timeline conversation between the two of them.

That was great when HWR hit him with that line.
749437, VT is a goofnugget
Posted by JFrost1117, Sat Nov-11-23 01:32 AM
J-Maj as HWR is SO fuckin dope. A villain you can't beat is normally some bleak shit, but he makes it so entertaining.

It would've been dope to see VT gradually evolve into HWR or another full Kang variant throughout time.
749469, Nice convo overall but....
Posted by normal35762, Wed Nov-15-23 06:53 AM
the HWR castle scenes from episode 6 in season 1 and season 2 don't "match up" vibe wise with HWR. Like if he is supposed to go back in time the vibe should match. It didn't. Some interesting lines in the dialogue but the different filming times threw it off for me.
749476, Most of that scene SHOULDN'T have matched up.
Posted by soulfunk, Wed Nov-15-23 12:18 PM
Back in season 1, HWR was able to dodge every attempt Sylvie was making to kill him, and anticipate every word that was said, because up until the threshold was passed he literally had a script of everything that would happen. What we saw in this finale though was on the elevator Loki timeslipping into the scene and then saying different things from what he originally said in season 1. I saw a Youtuber specifically point this out - you can see HWR reacting differently at this point because he realizes what Loki is doing. He still keeps up the façade though, until he's sitting at the desk and says "how many times have you been at this", and at that point the entire vibe shifts because HWR isn't "acting" anymore, he's being himself and actually leveling with Loki about his options (though eventually Loki finds another way.)
749440, This was by far the best MCU Disney+ show.
Posted by soulfunk, Sat Nov-11-23 09:38 AM
Pretty sure that was the series finale. But they managed to do something that not only the shows but all of the MCU has struggled with since Endgame - have huge stakes that don’t essentially have to get ignored in the rest of the MCU. Loki’s sacrifice was amazing - he’s in the throne at the end, offering the choice of free will to the multiverse. The TVA won’t be able to keep up with all the Kang Variants, which means that Secret Wars is still coming. But because of Loki offering free will it’s not just going to go as HWR planned it - the characters in the multiverse will have a fighting chance to change things. And they likely won’t even know that their chance exists because of Loki literally holding the multiverse together without letting the branches die.
