>Sidious back?!

Lol!!! It sounded like Luke to me. I have to back and watch again, but it had that Mark Hamill "Joker" tint to it...

I'm hyped for this!

...

my thoughts,

peace.
734354, Def Sidious. He came out and told them to replay the trailer lol

734355, Since the rumours are they are trying to reference all movies in this
Posted by Heinz, Fri Apr-12-19 01:06 PM
Do you think we get a mention or quick scene with any of the fallen Jedi's or any time travelling shit with Ashsoka and Ezra? Im assuming we could with Sidious back when they explain how he's back and what he's been up to etc.

734356, My guess is that’s more of a reference to her training...
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Apr-12-19 01:20 PM
That quote “we’ve passed on all we know” sounds like Rey has had Force ghosts training her. I think it’s possible that we get force ghosts from all three trilogies - Kenobi, Yoda, and Luke, maybe even Qui-Gon.

734371, The trailer looks fine

But I have to say that I'm not excited to see this.

I think I have Star Wars fatigue. I didn't see Solo and while I liked The Last Jedi and Rouge One, I just can't get excited to see another Star Wars movie. At least not so soon after the last one came out.

Either fatigue or the fanboy chatter about Abrams mishandling the first movie (which I liked at the time) is dampening my enthusiasm.

I dunno.
734374, my problem is that is looks like a bunch of token TFA service.

- Leia Theme
- another desert planet
- Desert skiffs that were in Return of the Jedi
- Lando
- Death Star wreckage
- Emperor laugh to close

hoping they didn't take a hard nostalgic left after The Last Jedi's unevenness. but it's Disney, so probably.
734382, This too

I'm a lot more interested in seeing the younger characters than rehashing the old storylines.

Maybe my issue is that the portion of the plot which used the older characters didn't dd much to the story outside of fan service.
734384, This whole movie isnt about younger characters.
Posted by Heinz, Mon Apr-15-19 09:50 AM
They are only there really because the actors of the OG are old and now 1 dead. At this point they are just a bridge to the end of the Skywalker story. Yes having new characters is fun and helps with longevity but at this point they know this story ends here. Ultimately using these new kids to finish Luke, Anakin and Leia's story is what they will be doing.

Would be weird ending to the saga if it was mainly focused on new characters. I never watched the NBA Playoffs and in the final game wanted the rookies and bench players to play the last deciding game LOL

734402, I don't think my problem is so much with the movies
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Tue Apr-16-19 06:03 PM
... as much with my washedness and a general lack of interest in movies, more so blockbusters.

I made that comment about the previous two movies, but I enjoyed both of them.

The movies are generally fine. But I just can't get up for more Star Wars movies. Nothing personal against the movies or the actors.

If they do something NEW then people say 'Star Wars ain't that"

If they do something old then it's "They do too much fan service."

I hope they just cut off the internet and make movies they want to make.

Then I'll decide with my dollar if they win or lose.
734400, Kevin Smith said it best recently

That when you get into the sequels you are automatically playing in the "fan service" game. People are coming to the saga of movies based on the previous. Not looking for something NEW. The closest to something new the fans hated it. They gave you something old and there were people who hated it. Can't have it both ways.

I loved both those movies. And im fine with going the old way.

Even all the other movies and tv shows will all have and should have callbacks and repeat thigns we have seen in the past. Rogue One was that. Solo was that. Rebels was that. Clone Wars was that. The best books which are all written by Claudio Gray do that. The comics do that. Don't like it go watch another property then LOL

734405, I like TFA.
Posted by will_5198, Tue Apr-16-19 08:34 PM
I didn't mind some of the directions The Last Jedi went, but aged like hot milk.

I *personally* don't want TFA 2.0 as the finale. that's all. this is PTP, not Reddit.
735729, D23 First Look is the last thing I'm watching.

Really hammering home that this is it for the main storyline.
735751, TFA was DOPE, Solo was fucking awesome, Rogue One was the best
Posted by justin_scott, Mon Aug-26-19 08:17 PM
and The Last Jedi was decent, if maybe a little uneven. I have faith that this will entertain me.

736517, seriously that trailer was visually overwhelming.

like i dont even know how theyre gonna fit all of that into one film.
736522, This is my biggest worry with it...

>like i dont even know how theyre gonna fit all of that into
>one film.

I liked TLJ as a film itself, but in terms of where it left the story going into Episode 9 there is a TON of heavy lifting this film needs to do. They gotta introduce Palpatine as the big bad of this trilogy with him having not been in the first two films. Return of the Jedi did this successfully, but he was at least discussed and made a short appearance in Empire so he wasn't coming out of nowhere. Plus in Rise of Skywalker they gotta explain how he's back alive, how how his consciousness somehow survived, and they gotta explain what his plan is, and in some way connect that with what Snoke and the First Order had in motion for the first two films.

And they gotta do all of this while also having a compelling arc for Rey, for Kylo Ren, and the rest of the resistance with Finn and Poe. Gotta handle Leia with old footage and have that somehow fit in. On top of all this they need to be closing out the entire Skywalker saga to have some sort of satisfying end in place.

Knowing all of this, and then watching the trailers and realizing that they are still introducing new characters and elements and I'm like whoa - this film needs to be a trilogy in and of itself to somehow work.

736394, It looked beautiful

not sure if the story will be good but I'm there first night.
