I understand. That part was frustrating. I gave it a pass because I think it's pretty realistic for kids to do some dumb shit like that, and for a parent to not even think twice about bailing their kids out the way the mom did, even at such a high cost.

I'd say keep watching, maybe? That moment in particular was pretty important, as the sister has to just live with what happens, and the combo guilt/absence ends up making her take on the parent role for her brother.

But then, a big part of the show is following these young people as they try to survive in this sort of post-apocalyptic world, and occasionally make really dumb decisions because, well, they're young people thrown into a shitty scenario.
