from the beginning you know who the mastermind is. pretty sick that this plan was
formed but, towards the end i just didn't care enough.

I agree that you know who the mastermind is kinda early, and the obvious misdirection they try by playing her interviews and her heavy, heavy denials kinda made me mad when I got to the end.

And even bringing the prostitute in with a "secret" of her own...was kinda like "ehh...okay".

I did like it overall though

The anime is bananas- its the same guy who created One Punch Man. Its a similar premise, except in this, the protagonist is a middle school boy who happens to be the most powerful 'esper' (extra sensory human) in the world.

I checked this out on a whim and was VERY impressed.

It's a Danish show.

Basically it starts raining one day in Denmark, and then bodies start dropping.

One family gets to safety in a bunker seemingly designed for such a disaster.

Things progress from there.

This plays out like The Walking Dead, only trade in zombies for lethal rain.

It takes several turns that I didn't see coming at all.

Highly recommend.

First episode-

The kids reaction to the knock on the door TOTALLY pissed me off.

To the point where I don't even wanna finish it.

I understand. That part was frustrating. I gave it a pass because I think it's pretty realistic for kids to do some dumb shit like that, and for a parent to not even think twice about bailing their kids out the way the mom did, even at such a high cost.

I'd say keep watching, maybe? That moment in particular was pretty important, as the sister has to just live with what happens, and the combo guilt/absence ends up making her take on the parent role for her brother.

But then, a big part of the show is following these young people as they try to survive in this sort of post-apocalyptic world, and occasionally make really dumb decisions because, well, they're young people thrown into a shitty scenario.

Yeah, I will say one thing I liked about those first 10-15 minutes (lol) was how FAST everything moved. I know it has to settle into itself, but those opening moments had me on the edge of my seat.

I prolly will go back and finish...I know the wife will like it when I introduce it to her, so I'll end up having to watch it anyway

Show is based on Retsuko, Sanrio's red panda, your typical Japanese office worker who copes with her dead-end job and shitty coworkers by karaoke-ing with full on RAGING DEATH METAL


Episodes are only 15m but surprising depth and the gimmick doesn't get old

If your point is every show or movie can't be good, by the definition of that word and so every review here can't be of a good project, then I guess you're right or whatever.

But there seems to be a glut of great TV and film out now, and everyone on this board seems to have good taste. It's not too far fetched that the recommendations are of good stuff.

Pretty sure Berlin Syndrome was the second film from this director (Shortland?). The setup is flawless IMO but the movie runs about 20 minutes too long and the resolution did not equal the buildup, for me, although it had a poetic ring to it. The main character has some "holy shit why didn't you do X" moments where I literally talked to the screen (I never do that LMAO), but overall I think it probably deserves a watch. I kind of think it works best if you have no idea what is going to happen. Just a woman who meets a charming stranger in Berlin and how things unfold from there.

I've been too busy the past week to really get in a flow so I'm still on ep3, but it's pretty dope so far.

For some reason, it's defaulting to the dubbed version, so for anyone watching, i'd really really really recommend switching to Hindi with subtitles. My dumb ass was most way through the first episode thinking wow this acting is kind of dogshit, until i realized why.
