There's a bunch of trilogies (the OG Star WARS trilogy and the prequel trilogy) where they change from movie to movie without losing it's tone or cohesion.
I wish people would ask more out of things other than "*shrugs* it's enjoyable enough". That's how we end up with 6 Transformer films and a spin-off.
