703337, Arrow Season 4
Posted by bwood, Fri Oct-09-15 05:08 PM
Diggle needs to stop being a bitch ass.

And fuck Captain Lance too.

Otherwise this shit was okay. I think Flash has now left this show behind in the dust.
703339, I'm in for Damien Darhk, though
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Oct-09-15 08:29 PM
Love that actor

i'm still in though.

oh, and felicity in those dresses? i mean damn.
703359, They're struggling with the side characters
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Oct-11-15 11:23 AM
Felicity became too whiny last season. Diggle's character hasn't done much. Making Speedy another project to be saved is tired. Laurel hasn't been good since season 1 and Canary hasn't help her any.

It's also telling that this show is boosted by Flash references more than the Flash is helped by Arrow references at this point.
704708, giving it a little time helped
Posted by ThaAnthology, Tue Nov-17-15 04:05 PM
I now am way more interested in where they are taking Diggle (with his brother issues).

Now that Sarah is back alive and gone, Laurel can get back into full-on Canary.

This isn't about saving Speedy.

and they still have Damian Darhk. I am so not mad at this show so far.
703408, eh, i get why Diggle's mad
Posted by Calico, Mon Oct-12-15 08:57 PM
he should get over it at some point, but not yet..it's still new for him (and us really)....

I liked DD, but the rest was just ok....
703523, How is Thea gonna be the most brolic!?
Posted by CaptNish, Thu Oct-15-15 06:07 PM
She handed Ollie his ass.
703548, he wasn't really trying to fight her
Posted by jrocc, Fri Oct-16-15 11:15 AM
he was just trying to show her that she's out of control.
704707, agreed
Posted by ThaAnthology, Tue Nov-17-15 04:03 PM
703725, i think they're learning from the missteps of last season
Posted by araQual, Wed Oct-21-15 02:59 AM
where the flavour of the entire season was "monotone", mostly via delivery of stilted dialogue from Felicity (overly whiney) & Ollie (overly stick-up-his-ass). relaxing him just a touch is what the show needs to make Oliver a relateable human being again who can actually crack jokes (his opening lines in ep1 about the omelet made me cackle).

2 eps in and im havin fun. the action is back on point. everyones pretty much holdin it down. i dont think they're gonna spend too much time on Speedy's pit side-effects, mostly i think her arc is supposed to mirror Ollie's season 1 journey. plus what little i know of GA's sidekick, they're usually pretty fucked up anyways (rage issues, drug addiction).

lookin forward to Sara's resurrection. when is "Legends" supposed to start? nxt year?

704623, Great job rebooting Felicity
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Nov-14-15 03:31 PM
Don't know if I needed back-to-back relationship scenes but they've done a good job getting her back on track.

Saying Ray had an iron deficiency was a nice touch.

The flashbacks this season are stlll lacking. Eventually they're going to have to get rid of those, I think.
704621, just caught up on the episodes
Posted by xangeluvr, Sat Nov-14-15 06:19 AM
i see we're back to having laurel be fucking stupid and whiny again. her character sucks.
704759, thier fighter choreographer directed last nights episode
Posted by jrocc, Thu Nov-19-15 11:24 AM
...if that wasn't already obvious. some of the best fights i've seen on any show in a while.
704767, i knew the visual looked off all ep for some reason.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Nov-19-15 02:05 PM
i liked it tho.
704797, it was all about the fights
Posted by jrocc, Fri Nov-20-15 10:42 AM
forget all the other stuff, LOL!
707857, Season 4 started Meh! That just changed
Posted by Nappy Soul, Sun Feb-07-16 04:14 AM
Just watched episode 12 and am so happy we sent Legends of Tomorrow on their merry way.I think they're making a mistake with that show.I was getting annoyed with wheelchair Felicity and they turned it around. The return of Roy and Shado in one episode was fun to watch.Katana and Thalia banding together has potential for greatness and the highlight of that episode for me was reading the word "Cadmus" on that explosive charge. It's about to go down.I Superboy making an appearance on Arrow before Supergirl? We'd be so lucky.
707867, Best ep of the season
Posted by SoulHonky, Sun Feb-07-16 08:47 PM
The Legends of Tomorrow tie-in really hurt this season. Felicity was better this ep although I'm not sure why Darke has "gone to ground." But at least they gave some sort of excuse as to why he's once again not doing anything.

It's still lapped by Flash but hopefully we'll have a strong ending since they seemed to have been treading water.
707875, co-sign. cameos galore. fights scenes back to s1 calibre...
Posted by araQual, Mon Feb-08-16 03:31 AM
...and non eye-roll-inducing dialogue.
ep12 was everything this show should be every.single.week.
throwing Roy in there, and STILL not killing him off, was awesome. actually just seeing Roy back doin his thing was awesome in general.
hopefully this is a sign of a more focused, gully 2nd half of the season.

708901, Can't wait for this season to be over already
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Mar-01-16 01:00 AM
I thought they were getting back on track but Arrow is tough to take right now. It's almost like they spent all of their money on stunt men for the fight scene but even they aren't shot very well most of the time. They could definitely use a better cinematographer. Not sure what it is but I feel like Flash just looks better (and nails the tone of the show.)

They haven't quite figured out the tone since Oliver stopped killing. I loved Felicity and now I hope she's off the show. I don't think I'll ever take Laurel as Canary seriously. Speedy is a damsel in distress most of the time.

Dahrk has been an awful villain. I thought he finally might get some forward momentum for his story and then he loses his power.

The flashbacks are like someone turned the channel to a different, worse show.

At this point, I think they have to really consider rejiggering the show. This has been a poorly plotted out season IMO and they could stand to pare down the cast and maybe change up the setting every so often. I'd also go for more episodic adventures; maybe don't really kick into the season long story until the last five or six episodes. And time to retire the flashbacks.
708902, They gotta stop letting the stunt coordinator direct episodes
Posted by CaptNish, Tue Mar-01-16 02:35 AM
Because for some reason, the camera placement is shit and all of that cool fight blocking is useless because you can see how slow the pace actually is and they aren't masking how none of those punches are landing.

Thea and Laurel need to go away. Felicity can stay, but they have to keep her as Orac-- er, Overwatch and give me less "mommy/daughter wedding planning." The flashbacks have always been a weakness, but now they're downright insultingly bad.

They should definitely revamp the team. Diggle can stay, but they need to limit how much they use Spartan. Bring back Roy. Bring back Katana. Make them both full time members to replace Thea and Laurel. Hell, if you want a Canary, get fine ass Sarah off of LEGENDS and bring her back.

Oh, and never mention Vixen ever again....

Damien Darhk is awesome. Well, Neal McDonough is at least. But what exactly is his motivation? What is his evil plot? I couldn't tell you. I remember it had something to do with algae... or something?

The League episode was good though. Even with Barrowman chewing up allllllll of the scenery in every scene he was in. lol I love that dude.

This is one of my favorite shows on TV and I couldn't tell you what happened last week, it's so bad right now. I think this season is a wash. Hopefully they can regroup before next year. If not, maybe Ollie should be in season two of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and they should put ARROW on time out.

ps - Every time Laurel makes that Canary Cry face, I want to put my fist through my TV set.
708903, man i thought it was just me. fight scenes have been so damn WEAK
Posted by araQual, Tue Mar-01-16 06:43 AM
everythings in slo mo, no hard hits, goons/ghosts doing everything BUT shooting their enormous guns. what the fuck happened?? this show used to have by far the best fight scenes and choreography on tv.
it also used to have BALLS.
now it's so limp-dicked it's actually a slog trying to get through every ep.

710726, ''' what the fuck happened?? """
Posted by Torez the Judge, Tue Apr-12-16 09:11 AM
After Deathstroke, the villains don't measure up: Nobody associated with the League is really scary and since Ollie's mom died, nobody stays dead.

That took away a lot of the suspense.

Also, the tone of the show has changed a lot.

Instead of a gritty, real life action drama about an urban vigilante, the show feels like Buffy 3.0, with ramped up romance, love triangles and over the top comic booky villains.

I started watching Arrow because it felt like something that could happen in the real world. Now, it's just a comic book on tv.

Pass.
708904, Ollie kicked more ass in that last Legends ep...
Posted by araQual, Tue Mar-01-16 06:47 AM
...then he has all season long on his own damn show.

kinda sad Felicity wasn't the one in the grave. i just hope whoever IS, gives Ollie reasons enough to start murking ppl again. dark fucked up Ollie is a helluva lot more interesting then mayoral-candidate Ollie.

708911, here's what bothers me about this show
Posted by walihorse, Tue Mar-01-16 10:45 AM
You got everyone doing martial arts. It's like a Power Rangers episode. Everyone, guy good, bad guys, ambiguous motivation guys, everyone is throwing punches and kicks.

One of my favorite side episodes was when Diggle went with deadshot to that country to save hostages.

Martial arts centered eps like against deathstroke and Ras wheren't bad.

But randos tae kwon do'in it up against everyone is tiresome.
710651, Thank you, Damien.
Posted by CaptNish, Sun Apr-10-16 02:40 PM
Glad we off that.

That Bee episode was more fun that the rest of this season. I can't wait for it to be done. I think with FLASH, LEGENDS and SUPERGIRL swimming along, the show runners gotta come back and focus on the show that started it all off. Because this shit isn't killing it like it should.
710776, I'm sick of Damien
Posted by Calico, Wed Apr-13-16 07:44 AM
REALLY wack character, who SHOULD have been beaten in a couple episodes max

love the actor though....this may be his cheesiest role ever....

710792, The did fuck up
Posted by CaptNish, Wed Apr-13-16 10:43 AM
Neal is a fucking treasure and they're wasting him. That's why he's doing five much in every scene he's in. The dude is bored.

I don't think Damien is as much a problem as the Ghosts are terrible. If he had anything other than nameless faceless henchmen (like some underbosses) I don't think it'd be as much as a slog. But instead, since there are no underbosses, they come up on dude and have to pretend to be frozen week in and week out. Shit is mad tired.
710832, right...
Posted by Calico, Thu Apr-14-16 07:31 AM
..it's like, "how many times is THAT gonna happen??" (them trying to run up on him and getting handled by these invisible forces)
710842, Ollie stays shooting arrows at him every damn time too!
Posted by CaptNish, Thu Apr-14-16 10:23 AM
Like dude has ever not caught one.
710843, LOL
Posted by Calico, Thu Apr-14-16 11:58 AM
he just makes them look like chumps....they can't even defend their own base from a guy Ollie can beat...
711478, still can't believe how bad this shit has gotten.
Posted by araQual, Wed May-04-16 12:27 PM
i was groaning my way through most of the last episode.
most of this season, actually.
on top of all the valid complaints we've all made above, i'd like to throw in the excruciating dialogue and forced emo moments as the nail in this sorry coffin. i feel like no one's actually WRITING for these characters anymore, instead just cueing them thusly: "okaaayyy and a brief heart-to-heart 'it's-not-ur-fault' forced-emotional-moment-interrupted-by-a-ringing-cell-phone sceeennnne....NOW". there's SO MANY of them lol. what a whiny bunch of navel-gazers.
like, we get it, character growth is great, but why does the show have to suck in order to force our protag to not kill his enemies? just let the damn dog off the leash already and let Ollie be a fucking BADASS again.

and what a fucking waste of time the flashbacks were. they stretched that shit out all season JUST to show that Ollie has history with the idol and its powers? good lord. take me back to season 1 and 2 when this show could do.no.wrong.

can't believe we're gonna have to endure a 5th season of this tonally schizoid mess. the showrunners need to scale this shit way the fuck down. take Ollie back to his s1 roots. remind him of his mission. bring back the damn book of names. have him fuck around with females not named Felicity. if he's truly gonna lose his shit, lose his girl, lose a team member, what better motivation for him to abandon his 'growth' as "Green Arrow" and go backwards in order to go forwards? it's the kick in the ass the show needs to keep us interested, or at least remind us how this lil CW show somehow kicked so much ass when it came out swinging in s1+2.

/rant over.

711498, i'ma stick with it cos i wanna see how it all ends
Posted by araQual, Thu May-05-16 04:30 AM
can't see it going on for much longer if they stay this shit anyways, might as well keep watchin til it's done. they still pull out an awesome handful of eps every now n then. and the crossover multi-show universe thing is still cool.

all of that.

flash is the best of them right now, i don't like legends very much at all.
711497, i'm havin fun with Legends, cept for the Ray x Kendra bullshit
Posted by araQual, Thu May-05-16 04:28 AM
they shouldn't have 'shipped em so damn fast.
other than that, i'm kinda lovin it.
i mean that giant Ray vs the Leviathan fight was some awesome shit lol.

711526, I literally stopped watching
Posted by Torez the Judge, Thu May-05-16 02:27 PM
So wack, it wasn't worth fast forwarding.

They will do case studies on how bad this show fell off.
711531, finally a decent episode
Posted by sndesai1, Thu May-05-16 03:04 PM
i'm kinda interested again

legends is totally off the rails and doesn't even try to be logical or follow any of the time travel rules they had previously established...and ray + kendra somehow manages to be 10x more cringeworthy than oliver + felicity, which is saying something

flash is still the best of the three, but the team's decision-making wrt zoom has been so unbelievably stupid and they're playing fast and loose with the time travel rules too

all of these shows would benefit so so much from 10 ep seasons
711684, This right here is the truth

>all of these shows would benefit so so much from 10 ep

They need to shorten the seasons big time. They also have to chill on making the villains so powerful. They make every hero look like a bitch.
711685, Agree with both of you.
Posted by bwood, Sun May-08-16 05:08 PM
The 100 is the best show on The CW and part of that is because each season is only 16 episodes long. Same with iZombie (even though they should keep that around 15 episodes).
712498, After tonight's episode, I'm good on this shit.
Posted by bwood, Wed May-25-16 11:11 AM
I'll give Flash another Season. Same with Legends & Supergirl now that it's on CW.

But man all these shows are testing my patience and most definitely need to be 13 to 14 episodes max.
712530, i never stop watching once i'm 3-4 seasons in, but this is testing me
Posted by sndesai1, Thu May-26-16 04:45 AM
it's incomprehensible that the quality can fall this far in two years
712531, If they had balls theyd just reset with flashpoint
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu May-26-16 04:55 AM
This ending would be a nice little "series" finale.
712534, So I quit on Arrow during this season
Posted by walihorse, Thu May-26-16 08:06 AM
how bad is it?

On Reddit everyone now hates Felicity, but I don't know why.

I thought Laurel was the universally hated one.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown.
712576, season 3 was iffy. season 4 was way worse.
Posted by araQual, Fri May-27-16 11:26 AM
writing, directing, cinematography, fight choreography, the damn ACTING lol. shit is a pale imitation of the first two seasons. actually no, saying it's an imitation isn't accurate, cos it's not even trying to be that type of show anymore. the type that had proper action, high drama, crazy suspense/intensity, & emotionally shattering (and permanent) deaths. introducing metahumans and magic has done nothing but hurt this show. it's given the creative team a chance to expand into all sortsa different spinoffs, but man has it completely gutted the core and spirit of this show.

sorry, longwinded answer lol. shit sucked. i watched every week, waiting to be reminded why i loved it so much like those first two seasons. it happened maybe once, in episode 12. rest of it...i could go on...and on...and on...about the level of sucktitude. it was like watching a slow-moving train-wreck. shit, might even be worth watching just to say you witnessed it.

edit: the Felicity hate is strong, and justified. dont know if i can entirely blame the actress, cos they give her shitty things to say, they make her the center of Ollie's world when the two don't REALLY have that strong of a connection to even be that close (other than a pure office romance type thing), Felicity is a high-strung, whiny, speak-with-a-permanent-crying-voice shithead whose main purpose over the last two seasons was to take long heaping shits on Oliver. that's been her purpose. and oh yeah, she's a tech genius. and she's supposed to be smart and witty n alla that but they wore that shit OUT these last two seasons, turned those qualities that made her likeable and cute into the exact opposite.
Laurel was almost similar, in that she had only one purpose as well that she fulfilled at least once per episode: take Oliver aside from the group, chastise him or remind him he's a beacon to this city, provide an emo moment or something to that effect. that's pretty much IT. what a goddamn waste of two perfectly good female characters.

V.
712591, Arrow = DCUTV's Weakest link
Posted by Nappy Soul, Fri May-27-16 03:41 PM
Among all the super heroes shows, Arrow is by far the worst written show. Damien Darhk was a lame vilain, all the badass thing he does and he gets killed so easily? He is supposed to look a lot younger. H.I.V.E. is supposed to be a lot more badass than army dudes on motorcycle. How can you kill Amanda Waller? Why are we still dealing with Merlyn? I hate that they still tag along with dude while he is responsible for all teh bad shit that happens. Some characters are useless and need to be let go ( Felicity's mom is the most annoying character in any TV show or movie ever, Bye Laurel, you will not be missed, I don't feel that Noah kid neither. He is written with the magic negro mindset, they keep horseshoeing him into the show and it seems like he belongs to another story). Oh and the flashbacks. It gets old. At least th eother ones introduced Katana and White China. This season's flashback was horribly boring.

I don't think I'll watch season 4.
712793, Greg Berlanti needs to give up some shows
Posted by CaptNish, Wed Jun-01-16 06:00 PM
They need to hire showrunners for all four shows that are dedicated to the individual properties. They're spinning too many plates. That being said... here's my fix.

Thin the fucking team. Let Dig retire and go raise his kid. Let Thea... go do something else. Bring back Sara and Roy. Felicity can stay, but if she does that cry voice one more goddamn time, she dies. Her mom? Gone. Make my man Curtis Mr. Terrific, or let him go. Lance needs to be a cop again, because now he's just a guy who hangs around the cave. Malcolm is a great nemesis for Oliver. That being said, he needs to be used sparingly. Let him go take a season off.

Essentially, Ollie, Roy and Sara in the streets. Felicity on comms. Lance as Commissioner Gordon. Annnnnd, go....

Flashbacks? Gone. The Whedon school of Big Bads? Gone. It's unsustainable. They should do three mini archs. Have the villains of the mini-archs team up in the end. There are so many DC characters they can use. Look, I know they got fucked and had Deathstroke and the Suicide Squad taken from them. Okay, fine... well go dig up some others. Make it work. You did it once. Do it again.

Go back to basics and focus on Ollie. I have never read a single review that has pined for more Lance Family/Felicity Family/Diggle Family/Thea Love Life. Ever. So stop doing it. Stop thinking that relationships are the only way to create drama. Because while it can, that shit is so forced and unearned, it's laughable.

But this is the most important thing that has to change on every DC/CW show....

STOP. MAKING. YOUR. HEROES. LOOK. LIKE. BITCHES.

Holy fuck, I can't stand this shit where people "just aren't powerful enough" to beat the bad guys. Every goddamn episode, the heroes on these shows don't just get beat or suffer setbacks. They get their asses handed to them. Not even by the main villains. Anarky took on Thea, Diggle and Oliver all by himself!! AND GOT THE FUCK AWAY!! WHAT!?

I have more thoughts on it. Honestly, I would love to sit down and talk to the writers. Because this season was such an abortion, I can only imagine that there had to be something going on behind the scenes.
712794, Co-sign. It needs a complete reboot. And cut to 13 - 15 episodes.
Posted by SoulHonky, Wed Jun-01-16 07:13 PM
You could really teach a class on how not to write a season of television based off of this season's Arrow.

Part of me thinks a reboot could work but, then again, the writers have shown a complete inability to make anything outside of the season 1 & 2 dynamics work. Curtis was the only breath of fresh air but that's because he filled Felicity's season 1 role.

The flashbacks are completely useless at this point. I'm not sure how Oliver in Russia next season is going to be any better than the mess of this season's flashback.

Also, since CW makes them go on some hiatuses, break up the season. As noted, mini-arcs would be so much better.

I'm on the fence for next season. This season was that bad.
712803, amen. to ALLA that.

712836, That'd be so beautiful
Posted by Nappy Soul, Fri Jun-03-16 06:20 PM
I was hoping that with The Flash going all Flashpoint, that, that event would change both Arrow and Supergirl too. The finale of The Flash pretty much killed that universe as we knew it. It's a great opportunity to change everything.

Introduce Thomas Wayne as Batman. WB is giving the TV universe a hard time but they can be creative and make it fresh. Gotham is bastardizing that universe pretty good.

New 52 Oliver Queen is pretty much the same, except he is more involved at Q-Core and his sidekicks, Naomi and Jax are pretty much Felicity and Noah.

Introduce Cyborg

Introduce Booster Gold

All a pipe dream; I know. WB/DC doesn't understand that they lost the public's trust with their jacked up movies and that TV is where they 've had a real following. Marvel been gaining on 'em with their Netflix shows. Restricting their TV show is a mistake, No one is checking for Legends of Tomorrow merchandise.
