695171, Aye, PTP: can yall watch The Roast of Justin Bieber tonight?
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Mar-30-15 03:35 PM
It's on at 10pm on Comedy Central. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could. Plus...you'll get to see The Biebs skewered as well as one of the next great comics, Pete Davidson. Everyone comes with it on this one...hope you guys dig it.

Oh also feel free to watch the red carpet preshow at 930pm.

That's all for my begging.
695173, Anybody watch? Was it good?
Posted by spades, Mon Mar-30-15 03:42 PM
695174, Its not tonight yet

.
695175, Sup w/ all the jokes being leaked on facebook over the wknd?
Posted by jigga, Mon Mar-30-15 04:21 PM
695176, Pretty standard actually.
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Mar-30-15 05:05 PM
Lots of press was there and it was a longer than usual time from taping to airing. It's not preferable but nothing you can really do about it.

Not a big Kevin Hart fan but intro had me rolling. Good shit so far.
695202, Didn't get a chance to watch, but did the "Uber" joke make the cut?
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Mar-31-15 12:52 AM
695204, Yep.
Posted by Ryan M, Tue Mar-31-15 01:09 AM
695205, Winner: Will Ferrell.

Burress's sincerity got to me too. The bit where he just kept saying he doesn't like the music. No punchline, that was it. Hilarious. Unexpected.

(Another of the biggest laughs: Chappelle in the crowd responding to Bieber's reference.)

I'm really sick of the roast trend that's been going on for years of making the same tired black and gay jokes. "He's got a huge asshole because men fuck him in it! He's blacker than (insert black thing here)! That woman's such a slut that she's had sex with a lot of black guys!"

Not even saying that subject matter CAN'T be funny... if the joke is executed in a surprising way. It's just hard to be surprising anymore at the roasts. The reason why that Anne Frank joke was so fucking good was because he found an amazing way to use the shocking subject matter instead of just tossing shock out there for the sake of shock.

Good production value though, per usual. The drop-the-Bieber bit at the very beginning was probably the best entrance of any roast.
695217, agreed
Posted by astralblak, Tue Mar-31-15 11:49 AM
and i also kinda dug when Kevin hart called out Snoop. It maksed it in jokes very well, but when he hit him with the "nah, man, not all Blacks, just you" it put a serious smile on my face
695207, ludacris got it worst than beiber
Posted by JohnnyKilroy, Tue Mar-31-15 07:40 AM

everyone was funny except shaq and luda. snoop had a joke here or there.

pete davidson was surprisingly funny. didnt know much about him, dude was funny.
hannibal and the cosby joke was hilarious. he set it up well.
would chappelle have really done the roast if asked? dont know how that would've gone, sure it would've been dope.
jeff ross and will farrell obviously killed.

good show.

695216, was watching anyway, bit i got you

695218, outside of Ross and Hannibal i felt Biebs got hit light
Posted by astralblak, Tue Mar-31-15 11:54 AM
Martha and Shaq were surprisingly funny, very good

Luda was ehh, Snoop was aaiiiight

Natasha's continent joke, where she strung it into four or five of the guest/comedians was awesome

the first half of the SNL kid's bit was great

Kevin got smashed on pretty good too, but he was a quality host

the dais, had too many non comedians. overall, shit was good IMO though
695229, It's hard to watch a roast where you don't give a shit about the roastee

Indifference is worse than hate.
695230, lol
Posted by Ceej, Tue Mar-31-15 03:21 PM
no its not
695231, Man those 9/11 jokes killed me, props to that dude for being able to joke abt it
Posted by Oak27, Tue Mar-31-15 03:30 PM
Pete Davidson (SNL comic, whose dad was a NY firefighter who died on 9/11): "Two people from the movieĀ Soul PlaneĀ are here, right? Kevin, Snoop, Soul Plane was the worst experience of my life involving a plane."

Jeff Ross: "The only person who has inhaled more smoke than Snoop is Pete Davidson's dad inside the World Trade Center."
695246, Congrats on those ratings, Ryan. GET THAT BONUS CHECK.

695306, Ha. Thanks.

695342, Most disappointing roast in awhile.
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Apr-02-15 01:51 AM
Everything from Rivers through Franco was money, with the Seth McFarlin Trilogy standing as the best overall run.

This one missed Schumer and Jesylnick in a bad way. Add them and Gilbert Gottfred and we'd have had a classic.in Chris Klien/Keane Reeves hybrid was bland as hell. That lanky kid with the dad jokes was cool, but I couldn't stop thinking about how much he looks like he was created by the Aeon Flux animators.

Shaq, Snoop, and Luda were blah. Ross killed, Legerro was solis, and Hannibal was on point. Hart was a great Roastmaster, but bwyond that i was pretty underwhelmed. I suppose I just don't give two ducks about Bieber. To be roasted is to be honored, and this kid hasn't earned that particular stripe IMO.

Good on you for your work though.
695367, Thanks to everyone for watching.

I hear a lot of your criticisms. I don't necessarily agree with some of them - and I feel like this is my favorite roast I've worked on - but it was a big success and it's rad yall watched.

Thanks!
695403, Don't listen to these motherfuckers, it's OKP

695408, Nobody gave opinions of Ryan's work.
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Apr-02-15 10:16 PM
It was a goddamned tv show
It's pass the fucking popcorn
You know, where people give opinions on tv shows and movies
You know, the entire point of having such a forum

There's not a single person in here trashing Ryan or the work he did on the show.

You sounded so mad.

Why?
695409, The Roasts are easily my favorite CC product after South Park.

I mean, I'm extra motivated and invested in the success of this one knowing you work on them, but as a fan of the format, the comedians, and most of the roastees of the last decade, it's one of those things I watch each year with a critical eye.

I hope you didn't take offense to my critiques. I figured it was the same as any other post about any other show, albeit with the added element that you did some work on it.
695411, Of course not. Happy you're into the franchise.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Apr-02-15 11:24 PM
695455, I was actually surprised
Posted by lfresh, Fri Apr-03-15 08:03 PM
Martha did great

Buress caught me the day after I hearx tpain's 'work'
I truly felt what he said reiterating over and over how much he hates his music
While being funny

I could only hope to get the same opportunity someday
