692049, FX's The Americans Season 3 (yall still watching)
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Jan-29-15 08:12 PM
started last night. i'm trying to get that image of Phil & Martha out of my mind.
692062, Yo, Martha holding that gun was kinda sexy.
Posted by LeroyBumpkin, Fri Jan-30-15 12:15 AM
Not gon' lie.

I do need a recap. Who is that girl they recruited that gave Phil head in the car?
I feel like I missed that storyline.
692079, same here, what's Annaelise's backstory?
Posted by j., Fri Jan-30-15 12:50 PM
Thanks to her, Phil now has an asset in the ISI

I like how Elizabeth is all about the mission and the cause and Phil is all about his family. Should make for a great season.

Was the "uncle" they had lunch with their new handler from the center?

692088, They showed Annaelise in both previous seasons
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jan-30-15 02:09 PM
She was first shown early in the first season, with Phillip using her to spy for him on her husband, who works for the Department of Defense, and his colleagues; Phillip is pretending to working for the Swedish government, and she's talks about how she's in love with him. Phillip tells Elizabeth that Analise isn't cut out for spy work.

Last season, they showed Phillip getting her to hook up with the ISI guy. And I'm pretty sure she got pissed off at Phillip for trying to turn her "into a whore" or something along those lines. Which would give another bit of depth with her ending up falling for the ISI guy.

>Was the "uncle" they had lunch with their new handler from the
>center?

He was. He was also their "old" handler before character actress Margo Martindale. They complained about his absence season #1 when they first met her.
692168, Appreciate it. It all comes together now
Posted by j., Tue Feb-03-15 07:00 PM
I'm geeked for this new season. The Americans and Shameless are the best storylines on TV.

I can see Elizabeth turning Paige's idealism into being devoted to the cause. At the same time the bible reading and regular church attendance could backfire and Paige turns into a born again Reagan conservative.
692089, Very good and intense season premiere.
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Jan-30-15 02:11 PM
Like the new characters and new developments. The only thing that didn't work for me was the flashback of Elizabeth throwing her daughter into the deep end; a little too on the nose.

Otherwise, a strong beginning to an incredibly strong show.
692671, Man Liz kicked those Feds asses
Posted by astralblak, Wed Feb-11-15 11:40 PM
Stan looked at them like "damn, really"
692199, Was Elizabeth really just telling Gabriel
Posted by Marauder21, Wed Feb-04-15 01:53 PM
"what he needed to hear?"

Because I think she absolutely wants Paige to serve the cause.
692215, Yeah, she was more telling Phillip what he wanted to hear
Posted by Mynoriti, Wed Feb-04-15 07:11 PM
She's always been more ride or die for the cause than him. I wonder how much of a wedge this will ultimately drive between them, because I don't see him folding on this.
692666, YUp
Posted by astralblak, Wed Feb-11-15 11:33 PM
.
692221, Naw she's always been about the cause
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Wed Feb-04-15 08:42 PM
He was brainwashed into being diehard for the cause since she was young. Her father apparently died during WWII, the mentioned it back in season 1 I believe. So he's always wanted to serve mother Russia. Phillip on the other hand is more idealistic, so he sees the hope in his kids not having to live in the world he lived in back in the USSR.

I think it's always been this back and forth with Phillip and Elizabeth on being down for the cause. He's been wanting to defect since the first season.
692222, Can I just say adding Frank Langella to the cast was great
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Wed Feb-04-15 08:46 PM
Langella da gawd as "Uncle" really brings something else to the show. He's so chilling that I can't wait for him to chew up some scenery.
692225, idk why but i felt very uneasy the whole time he was on.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Feb-04-15 09:06 PM
692233, That's what he does.
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Wed Feb-04-15 11:16 PM
He scares the shit out of me sometimes
692667, haha. exactly
Posted by astralblak, Wed Feb-11-15 11:35 PM
great casting choice
692253, Episode's title was "Baggage"
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Feb-05-15 09:46 AM
Maybe the most upsetting thing I've seen on a TV show.
692267, Yeah I had to look away a couple of times
Posted by navajo joe, Thu Feb-05-15 11:13 AM
that was grimey
692271, yeah, it was rough...*spoilers*
Posted by Calico, Thu Feb-05-15 12:13 PM
...when she looked at dude like "come help" and he went over there, i felt bad, but i laughed too

we even saw ole girl in prison..i thought she was dead by now...
692282, it was fucking disgusting.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Feb-05-15 02:43 PM

every pop made me cringe and squirm. i havent seen anything quite like it on tv.

Im with phillip. Just let paige have an easy life and keep her out of that spy bullshit.
692302, In the end, I think he'll cave
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Feb-05-15 08:02 PM
Because Elizabeth isn't going to
692297, i'm not normally squeemish, but damn
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Feb-05-15 06:33 PM
that was rough
692345, Watching that scene while eating dinner was not a good idea
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Feb-06-15 10:36 AM
692348, i think i was eating too LOL
Posted by Calico, Fri Feb-06-15 11:32 AM
..but my stomach didn't care what was happening on screen
692350, Elizabeth so thorough she wheeled it off like carry on
Posted by j., Fri Feb-06-15 11:47 AM
anyone peep how she just up and rolled out like that suitcase didn't weigh at least 100 lbs?

692668, craziest shit ever on tv
Posted by astralblak, Wed Feb-11-15 11:37 PM
I wonder if that was a combo of actor / cgi / and puppet

she is the most bouty broad or top 3 in history

692670, also I really wish they had the courage to murk Stan
Posted by astralblak, Wed Feb-11-15 11:39 PM
that early into the season

but it was a nice recall to Empowerment Speech and then the biz with his wife
692705, me too, I hate that dude's face lol
Posted by Ray_Snill, Thu Feb-12-15 11:16 AM
I hate to see him and Titus Welliver on TV, especially in HD.

692807, lofl. me too. his face is mad punchable and looks
Posted by astralblak, Fri Feb-13-15 01:55 PM
like it was birth on a petri dish of acid, shards of rectum fat, and cow shit
692729, My teeth hurt
Posted by navajo joe, Thu Feb-12-15 03:54 PM
The fucking tooth scene had me all contorting like I was trying to fit in a suitcase.
Kerri Russel is a beast. The looks between her and Matthew Rhys during that scene. This fucking show.
692755, that was even rougher than the bone snaps
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Feb-12-15 07:59 PM
692787, thought it was just me
Posted by Calico, Fri Feb-13-15 09:27 AM
...when homeboy did a SMOOTH tuck and roll out the moving car, i was hype....

also loved the scene where she was teaching the young guy to keep observant...

...shout out to the FBI guy trying to holla..LOL
692865, yes those scenes were cool
Posted by astralblak, Sat Feb-14-15 04:48 PM
.
692895, re: FBI holla
Posted by j., Sun Feb-15-15 01:46 PM
that might be the start of something there
she's not getting that good recently married loving at home
plus the kid issue might be the beginning of the end

Philip's game might not be strong enough is what I'm saying
meanwhile FBI co-worker is smooth planting seeds and beginning to cultivate

692845, they torturing us this season.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Feb-14-15 12:36 AM
i dont blame old dude for making a run at liz.
692866, Liz is bout it bout it
Posted by astralblak, Sat Feb-14-15 04:49 PM
the acting / communication with the eyes in that scene was great too
692762, Oh they're gonna recruit a teenage girl now?
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Feb-12-15 09:54 PM
Paige better enjoy being a churchgoing all-American while she can. She's getting into this shit one way or another.
692896, what about lil bro?
Posted by j., Sun Feb-15-15 01:49 PM
or is this another homeland where they make everything about the girl and just kick the lil bro to the curb?

just like homeland, he barely gets mentioned. What are they planning to do with him? one way or another he's bound to find out the truth right? then what?

it's hard out there for teen boys
692898, honestly i think they're gonna end up w/ the boy in the end.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Feb-15-15 02:03 PM
henry just kinda does his own thing.

paige just nosy and she wants something to anchor herself to. but henry's already breaking in folks houses stealing shit.

this an ill bait/switch they're setting up i think
692911, "are you in love with Mrs Beeman?"
Posted by Mynoriti, Sun Feb-15-15 04:28 PM
LOL
692927, classic moment
Posted by astralblak, Mon Feb-16-15 01:16 PM
shit I'd be in love with Miss Brennan
692929, right?
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Feb-16-15 02:21 PM
>shit I'd be in love with Miss Brennan
692956, that was such a teenage girl question
Posted by Grand_Royal, Tue Feb-17-15 11:52 AM
we all know that's just hormones, not love lol
693315, yup. that's why it was so funny
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Feb-23-15 07:32 PM
in Paige's mind, Henry's just sitting in his room gazing at the picture thinking about how much he loves Mrs Beeman.
693139, soooo.... about "her"
Posted by Calico, Fri Feb-20-15 10:47 AM
am i to understand those two are going through a divorce, and still wants her back, but she's moved a new dude in HIS house playin daddy and all?? that HAS to be surreal for him...

i missed most of last season...
693318, he pretty much ignored her until she left
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Feb-23-15 07:37 PM
if I remember right, she told him she was having an affair, and he kind of didn't give a shit. When his Russian gumar got deported, he suddenly is all about his wife again. Fuck Stan.
693117, OK, that baby soft lotion commercial Phillip saw
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Feb-19-15 08:35 PM
Is officially more disturbing than them breaking a corpse's limbs to fit in a suitcase.

"This sexy woman was once a baby, but look at her now, seductively licking things, like a sexy baby you'll want to fuck."
693138, that commerical was great
Posted by Calico, Fri Feb-20-15 10:45 AM
and i bet 100% real
693342, shit was wild
Posted by astralblak, Tue Feb-24-15 12:16 AM
.
693123, phil's story in this week's ep is so dark
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Feb-20-15 12:04 AM
yet oddly comforting.

phil gonna put lil girl to work and fuck up her life just like paige would get done. and yet you can feel how conflicted he is about that shit. lil girl throwing him the alley oop and he's trying his best to not acknowledge it. all he wants is something like a father/daughter moment at the end there.

he's got a little too much heart for this spy shit.
693317, Yeah, it's pretty wild
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Feb-23-15 07:34 PM
Will be interesting to see how far Phillip lets this go
693343, he on that Tyga and Kylie
Posted by astralblak, Tue Feb-24-15 12:16 AM
.
693319, I want to make sure I'm understanding everything with the defector
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Feb-23-15 07:45 PM
in the "previously on" agent who got beat up was asking Stan how he got in good with the White Power people. His answer was just that he told them what they want to hear.

He thinks defector's answers are a little bit too perfect, and that she's full of shit.

When she hit the bathroom and ignored the milky way in the vending machine, he suspects she's up to no good

am i missing anything?
693344, nope
Posted by astralblak, Tue Feb-24-15 12:19 AM
but I also think he's a bit discombobulated cause he wants his wife back and may be projecting onto her his desires to find the villains

and man I really can't wait for the moment Stan finds out Phil and Liz are spies. Shit I wonder if they will even wrap the series up with him ever finding out
693388, so he comes back after business hours
Posted by j., Tue Feb-24-15 07:22 PM
and tears up the bathroom looking for evidence
finds none, and then goes to Mrs. Beeman's to finally confess his sins

next ep I expect him to go full mental case and just start flippin shit at work, he's this close to shooting the defector or something
693700, Rhys is putting in some HARD work this season.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Mar-02-15 12:25 AM
Like my god Phil is rocketing up the ladder of GOAT drama characters. We're watching an absolute brilliant performance of a man's unraveling.

Dude has done so many things for the job that he has to play everything like it's real to make it work. When this shit boils over it's gonna be UGLY.
693722, Dude needs an Emmy nomination this season
Posted by Marauder21, Mon Mar-02-15 09:54 AM
Then again, I thought the same thing about Noah Emmerich last season and Keri Russel in S1.
693869, agreed.
Posted by astralblak, Tue Mar-03-15 11:47 PM
the creep factor with the teen girl was on 1000, and the discomfort, confusion and disgust was all in his face

just great work

this episode was kinda meh though
693983, i've always felt bad for him
Posted by Calico, Fri Mar-06-15 11:17 AM
... i really thought he was gonna have to sleep with the girl this ep.....

didn't they bring up his oldest son in season 1???
693985, Yeah, early in S1, too
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Mar-06-15 11:28 AM
I had forgot about him
694005, gonna be pretty surpised if Pastor Tim turns to NOT be
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Mar-06-15 05:36 PM
every bit the creep he looks like

but i'm farily sure he is, which will fuck Phillip up even more about his current assignment, and Liz being Liz will see a recruitment opportunity in it. Showing Paige there's a better way to fight for the things she believes in.

Also, wtf@ that sexual training flashback from last week

also, lol @ Henry at dinner. I'm starting to like that kid.

And FUCK Nina all up and down. She'd play her own mother to save herself.
694007, henry was clowning man.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Mar-06-15 06:57 PM
shit had me dying.
694396, Henry done got his moments this year
Posted by astralblak, Mon Mar-16-15 02:26 PM
.
694266, every scene with Beeman, and the black agent is so awkward.
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Mar-12-15 09:54 PM
It's hard to even place why. They both seem so uncomfortable around each other.

Beeman mentioning him to Phillip he seemed to want to start getting raicial, but at the same time didn't want to go there. made me wonder if all that time he spent around the Aryans kind of got in his head (i mean it had to somewhat, right?). Like his real views on race might be a little more extreme than your average middle aged white man in law enforcement.

And damn @Phillip being ready with the bachelor pad.

Another great episode. The tension with Martha was pretty wild all around.
694275, Holy shit @ the end sequence
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Mar-13-15 08:29 AM
Is Fleetwood Mac the official "stuff someone in the back of a vehicle" music for this show?
694306, lol Fleetwood Mac = "shit is on" for sure
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Mar-13-15 09:45 PM
I love it
694279, the bachelor pad was some no expense spared spy shit
Posted by j., Fri Mar-13-15 10:21 AM
KGB was really on point with their backstories
the FBI investigator giving her the side eye in the elevator, but of course she'll never be a suspect.
Crazy how their entire existence hinges on a 14 year old. Paige is on the edge and could go either way really. Top caliber writing. I have a feeling the season will end with her either finding out or being close to it and having to decide.
694316, i think Paige needs something major to happen
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Mar-14-15 02:09 PM
to get that push. more than just finding out who they are. which i still think will be Pastor Tim trying to move on her. Phillip's reaction will be tear him limb from limb, before killing him, and protect my baby. Liz's reaction will be, sure, kill him, but ooh perfect recruitment opportunity!
694318, I really hope this happens because I just don't believe her in the church ...
Posted by DJ007, Sat Mar-14-15 02:21 PM
scene. Did you notice how she perked up when her mom told her they were involved in the civil rights movement. She wants to fight for something but I'm just not convinced its christianity. She obviously wants to know the truth and I feel she deserves to know it.

694324, i kind of get it. she's about social justice
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Mar-14-15 04:29 PM
and creepy pastor sold church to her based on that. she's thinking Pastor Tim stands for something, and her parents just sell vacations. Now she's seeing that may not be the case.
694356, All the attention towards Page, Henry's the red-herring
Posted by dgonsh, Mon Mar-16-15 10:28 AM

694415, that dinner scene got me thinking
Posted by j., Mon Mar-16-15 08:27 PM
could be just a teenage boy being an annoying little shit, we've all been that
but the endless why? why? why? questioning, the pic of Mrs. Beeman, the breaking into their crib last season...
694394, yall really think the pastor on that pedo creep life?

I think I first noticed it when he asked Stan to have a beer. The brotha is eager and competent, I don't get it.

>And damn @Phillip being ready with the bachelor pad.

It surprised me, but they are pretty thorough
694323, yeah, i guess Stan is resentful
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Mar-14-15 04:22 PM
especially when dude found the bug. meanwhile all Stan's instincts have been wrong lately. not to mention who is best friend is lol
694393, Fuck Stan Yo
Posted by astralblak, Mon Mar-16-15 02:16 PM
bitch ass white nigga. Why won't some one shoot him in his pizza face grill already. thing is i want Phil or Liz to do it, but they wont' be able too IMO if it comes to that

it def is the black shit and they doing a great job with it

the South Africa plot line is intense too and that final scene was great.
694665, Damn, poor Martha
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Mar-19-15 06:53 PM
it's funny because when she get's all naggy (when are we gonna move in together, Clark? when are we gonna have a kid, Clark? Clark?!) i automatically feel like "damn shut up already, lady", but then i remember just how badly she's being used in all this. just a horrible thing to do to somebody.
694679, I was surprised she wasn't killed last night, bet she gets it this season
Posted by mashpg89, Fri Mar-20-15 12:38 AM
The FBI detective guy might catch on to her, then she pulls out Chekov's Gun on Clark, and he's forced to kill her.
694691, Martha (and Phillip) are fucked.
Posted by PlanetInfinite, Fri Mar-20-15 09:27 AM
Martha is smart too. She didn't bother to disclose the info about the pen because of that counterintel presence.

If this Taffet guy is around, who the fuck is Clark?

i'm out.

one of the best. The tension was just off the charts
Martha...Paige...the curly hair blond (forgot her name)...the walls are closing in fast on Philip.

also, "new" is the new black. That was some captain obvious shit there
695080, possibly one of the darkest moments (and episodes) ever
Posted by astralblak, Fri Mar-27-15 05:37 PM
Liz talking to that old woman and feeding her death, and then the last Liz had to face before the woman died, yikes...

Also Phil and Langella, fuck great scene as well

I'm kind of annoyed Martha hasnt killed.

And god damn it I knew Stan set that up. I hope he gets shot in the face like the south African kid.
695115, SON....when she took the pills and poured em on the desk
Posted by Calico, Sun Mar-29-15 11:09 AM
....and just looked at her.......DOPE....that was such a great exchange....Philip's exchange with their handler was great too....
695177, when that lady asked where Liz's mother was from
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Mar-30-15 05:40 PM
she hesitated for a second. I was hoping she was gonna say Oklahoma or some shit, because as soon as she said Russia you knew it was a rap for her.
695198, and on the previous episode when SA Black man burned
Posted by astralblak, Mon Mar-30-15 10:44 PM
The SA White man with the tire. Holy shit.

I dont think ive felt such a strong black fist slash horror moment on tv ever.
695203, Right before, I told my wife that there was no way they would show...
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Mar-31-15 12:55 AM
...someone getting Necklaced on non-premium cable. They even cut away when they did it on "The Shield" over 10 years ago. And damn if they didn't show it but hold the shot for like three extra seconds. My, how times have changed.
695374, YO
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Apr-02-15 01:05 PM
How does this show keep getting better?

Paige finally knows the truth, and like many a teenager before her she did NOT really want to know what her parents were really like. And now she's got to keep the secret herself. It's a lot to put on a kid that age.

But that whole sequence where Elizabeth and Philip finally tell her was masterful.

And that's not even touching Stan's sad personal life, Nina finally getting a bit of an in with that defector and (most importantly) Henry's Eddie Murphy impression (SPOILER, it is every pre-teen white kid's Eddie Murphy impression.)
695383, i missed the impression, but Henry was great....
Posted by Calico, Thu Apr-02-15 02:44 PM
i was really surprised they told her the truth....and that pastor guy clearly showed his creepy side this week
695404, I liked that it wasn't super tense and dramatic IMO
Posted by astralblak, Thu Apr-02-15 09:12 PM
but the tension was ratcheted up after they revealed themselves to Paige. from her staying at home, to the call to the church / pastor, to the great writing of having her ask them to speak Russian. just pitch perfect

what she know has to carry really hits when Stan walks in for dinner to end the show, and how they frame Paige the shot to settle on her new perspective

just so damn good
695450, Pastor's creep-o-meter
Posted by j., Fri Apr-03-15 07:04 PM
went completely off the charts when he visited the travel agency
I really thought Philip was gonna turn around and punch him in the face
which of course would be completely out of character but you talkin wild shit about someone's daughter, expect to get wrecked.

Ok she knows, where do they go from here? they not about to bring her into the fold, but can't just walk around like it's all good. And this also means Henry will get caught up in the mix eventually.
695456, Henry's hiding spot?
Posted by PierreOrdinaire, Fri Apr-03-15 08:32 PM
Dood had his stash under the floorboards? Laying the groundwork, if you ask me. Paige'll probably be the angel on their shoulders, pushing them to not get too out of pocket, but never snitching.
695494, i dont see the Henry thing you guys are seeing
Posted by Mynoriti, Sun Apr-05-15 05:14 PM
earlier in the season i thought it might have gone in that direction, but now Henry is just seeming more destined to be a happy-go-lucky teenage stoner than a KGB agent.
695457, This season has been amazing
Posted by PierreOrdinaire, Fri Apr-03-15 08:35 PM
Perhaps the best so far?
695472, This show is too damn good, can't get anyone to watch though

Posted by Calico, Thu Apr-09-15 11:02 AM
...what did Liz say to her daughter that made her leave the room and close the door?

did they ever say if Elizabeth takes a "morning after pill" for these escapades?? how does my homie know them kids are really his? LOL
695709, Elizabeth told her she couldn't visit her dying mother in Russia
Posted by mashpg89, Thu Apr-09-15 08:46 PM
In that moment Paige realized the second lives of her "parents" take priority over their family.

I'm telling ya, Paige isn't built for this life. They need to begin working on Henry.
695768, i do t think she is either. they know that and
Posted by astralblak, Fri Apr-10-15 09:57 PM
There's no way they give her up if she can handle.

This is gunna end so turrbly
695739, I'm impressed her wig stayed on the whole time
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Apr-10-15 12:48 PM
The Russians must have won the wig glue race.
695779, was she trying to reach for a knife in that scene
Posted by astralblak, Sat Apr-11-15 11:37 AM
that wasn't there?
695783, i thought so too, but would that make sense?
Posted by Mynoriti, Sat Apr-11-15 02:03 PM
since her goal seemed to be computer access, and the key. unless that was plan B, and plan A was to muscle him for the key, then kill him?

she seemed to enjoy it enough. she wears that traveling-on-business thing well.

Ye gods, that shit was intense. Again. Phillip's trying to save Martha from the suitcase, but things may be to far gone. She's just a civilian, and not built for this shit.

Paige visiting Russia is going to be what gets her to buy into the whole deal. She has to know she has "real" family and connections, not just her parents who've lied to her and her brother's Eddie Murphy impression.

Still seems like there's A LOT of spinning plates going into the finale: Jail-bait Kim, the Bin Laden stand-in, Elizabeth's thing was the factory worker (the husband is soon to be dead), Nina in Russia, Oleg and Arkady and the mail-robot operation, etc. Not to mention the episode is titled "March 8, 1983," which was the day Reagan gave his infamous "Evil Empire" speech, and had Russia convinced the U.S. was about to declare war. With all that, they might not have the air-time to kill Martha.
696236, Forgot next week was the finale
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Apr-16-15 05:56 PM
Yeah, some of these plots are just going to have to simmer for a while. I'm sure S4 will pick up after Elizabeth and Paige go to Russia (if they ever go at all.)
696622, yeah, that chick's husband is lunchmeat
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Apr-21-15 04:58 PM
Dude seems to just fundamentally not respect women.. him thinking he can steamroll Liz in any way is damn near comedy at this point

I really feel for Martha. It seems like certain doom for her, but I kind of hope there's a way out for her. She doesn't deserve any of this.

IS Beeman going to see Martha purely out of suspicion, or is he just interested... or maybe a little of both? We see how lonely he is lately.

And you're right. The finale seems it will be fairly open ended. There's so much going on
696624, Well, Beeman subconsciously **knows** Martha is spying
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Apr-21-15 05:50 PM
Remember in the last season finale, he has that nightmare about getting shot in his office, and in the background Martha is stealing files off the robot. So he **knows,** even if he doesn't know. Which explains his reaction to Taffett's question.

Beeman tends to be right about everything. He's lonely and fucked up and is possibly going to get screwed over the Nina incident last season, but his instincts are just about always right. That reminds me, they also have to deal with the fake Russian defector...

>Dude seems to just fundamentally not respect women.. him
>thinking he can steamroll Liz in any way is damn near comedy
>at this point

I'm sort of surprised she hasn't killed him already. She dropped a car on someone to get ol' girl in, and she's aware of how much of an asshole he is. I imagine he's deader than dead as soon as she gets the info.

>I really feel for Martha. It seems like certain doom for her,
>but I kind of hope there's a way out for her. She doesn't
>deserve any of this.

As annoying as she is, she's pretty much a love-struck victim. But I'm not sure there's a scenario where she doesn't end up in a suitcase.
696625, I completely forgot about the dream. thanks.

If he's right about the defector, could it help shield him from some of whatever blowback comes out of the Nina thing? i dunno. Plus didn't Gaad pretty much know?

>I'm sort of surprised she hasn't killed him already. She
>dropped a car on someone to get ol' girl in, and she's aware

Liz seems to like her as a person, so she doesn't want to do anything she doesn't have to do. But, he's already overstepping, and clearly gonna be a liability.

>>I really feel for Martha.
>As annoying as she is, she's pretty much a love-struck victim.

She's naggish, but i have to remind myself during her "Clark, when are we going to/are we ever..?" sessions, that she kind of has every reason to feel this way. It's reasonable enough for her to push the idea of living with her husband

>But I'm not sure there's a scenario where she doesn't end up
>in a suitcase.

It's either, come clean to the Feds completely, and take her chances, or the suitcase. Neither is a very good option.
696629, it's strange to see that Phil has grown feeling for Martha
Posted by astralblak, Tue Apr-21-15 09:34 PM
and in many ways his refusal to accept, alongside his delays with Paige, really has me wondering if Phil will be the link that breaks

the writers have to have the nuts to kill Martha. they've written her into a corner

and ol' brother man, lol, let's hope it's swift and quick for his sake, 'cause Liz was giving him that "it will be so sweet when I stick the blade slow" look

what's up with the Afghan dude. What's the story with him again?
696695, PAIGE
Posted by Marauder21, Thu Apr-23-15 08:58 AM
PAIGE WHAT WHY
696727, oh Paige
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Apr-23-15 06:07 PM
you just killed Pastor Tim, you little rata.

Phil is really losing it, but damn if he didn't find the perfect out for Martha. I'm not really sure if i like the Phil, Mrs Beeman connection but we'll see where it goes.

Just when we thought it was over for Stan, he comes out on top. Gaad's gotta be furious now lol. He'll probably shoot himself in the foot again because he's so hell bent on getting Nina out of what he thinks is a siberian prison camp, when she's just chilling, and manipulating yet another sucker.

The scene where the arrest the defector was dope.

What a fucking great show
696742, The pastor just seems off in the worst way
Posted by j., Fri Apr-24-15 10:17 AM
that sneaking off Paige tried, could be just regular teen rebellion, but the way he hugged her? not feeling it. He just screams CREEP

Now what's he gonna do with this info? He either uses it to draw Paige closer to his creep life and make her see her parents as the enemy (they are, but they're still her parents) and/or try to blackmail the Jennings (I got dirt on you, doggie)

Beeman still doesn't get it with his captain-save-a-Nina ass. He got off the hook for now, but this is all gonna end very badly for him. Which will probably have something to do with Mrs. Beeman

Meanwhile, it seems Phil is trying to recruit her to get dirt on Beeman or hit him where it hurts. LOL @ the writers firing shots at scientology.

This season was incredible, couldn't ask for a better ending.
696761, they keep misdirecting us with his creepiness
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Apr-24-15 02:01 PM
i don't think he's bold enough to try to blackmail the jennings. he could def use it to get closer to Paige, or like astral said below, he may just not believe her, and tell them. Both things would put in Paige's head that you can only really trust family.

>Beeman still doesn't get it with his captain-save-a-Nina ass.
>He got off the hook for now, but this is all gonna end very
>badly for him. Which will probably have something to do with
>Mrs. Beeman
>
>Meanwhile, it seems Phil is trying to recruit her to get dirt
>on Beeman or hit him where it hurts.

it makes more sense that he's trying to get dirt on Stan, but Phil seems genuinely fucked up and searching for meaning.

LOL @ the writers firing
>shots at scientology.

I thought the EST thing was made up, but apparently it was a very real thing in the 70s and 80s.

>This season was incredible, couldn't ask for a better ending.

word
696750, lol at little rata
Posted by astralblak, Fri Apr-24-15 12:16 PM
I really hope the pastor gets it. I could only imagine a grown man being like that with my daughter, no matter all the do-gooder things they participate in

BUT, I don't think he'll believe her for some reason, just a feeling, no evidence

and that scene with the defector was dope. So was Stan right or he just set her ass up? I'm still a little bit lost on what happened there.

overall this season finale felt under cooked with how dramatic last year ended, but since next year might be our last, I'm sure shit gunna get crazy for season four

i mean we still got hella loose ends
696756, Stan was right about the defector.
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Apr-24-15 01:30 PM

>and that scene with the defector was dope. So was Stan right
>or he just set her ass up? I'm still a little bit lost on what
>happened there.

After he gets Oleg to "threaten" her in the hotel room, they showed her going to the movies and leaving a message in the bathroom. I think after that Arkady tells Oleg that someone has threatened one of their assets, and that the KGB must not be informing everyone of what operations are going on. Then there's the meeting this episode where Central Command tells the embassy that there are to be no unauthorized assassinations, which is their reaction to someone threatening the "defector."

I think that's how everything worked.
696764, I thought Stan and Oleg were setting her up
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Apr-24-15 03:21 PM
As in she defected legitimately, but they planted the seed in her about the heroic welcome she would get back home and how she'd be better off working covertly for the Soviets and she decided to flip, all so they could try and exchange her for Nina.
696768, if i understand correctly, all they did was push her into telling higher ups
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Apr-24-15 05:15 PM
ups. That Stan was right about her, but Oleg wasn't in the inner circle of who knew about her operation. Conversations at the center got Oleg suspicous, so him and Stan set up the fake hit man thing in order to get her to get word to her superiors. The timely "no assassinations" thing confirmed it to them that she did.

>As in she defected legitimately, but they planted the seed in
>her about the heroic welcome she would get back home and how
>she'd be better off working covertly for the Soviets and she

696757, Man, that last scene pissed me off so much
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Apr-24-15 01:36 PM
More that Elizabeth was so oblivious and stubborn that she couldn't acknowledge that this was going to be the logical next step for Paige. She is so determined for her daughter to "know who she is" and to serve their cause that she blinded herself to see that she's always been a horrible candidate for an agent. And lying to Phillip about it was an even worse idea.

Phillip might also be lost and can't see 10 feet in front of him anymore, but he's always been right that this was the wrong move to make. It's a good parallel with Stan, who's also always adrift, but also always right.
696766, As much as they're both cynical and pragmatic
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Apr-24-15 03:23 PM
I think Elizabeth still has that spark of ideology in her. She really believes that if people are just shown the truth about communism and the Soviet Union, they will naturally begin to embrace it, because in her mind it's what's right.
696769, Yeah you nailed it.
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Apr-24-15 05:55 PM
She knows Paige wants to do the right thing, so she will obviously want to join the good guys.

it's a huge blindspot

>I think Elizabeth still has that spark of ideology in her.
>She really believes that if people are just shown the truth
>about communism and the Soviet Union, they will naturally

699615, Just caught up. Anyone think Pastor Tim...
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Jun-19-15 11:36 PM
... may not be who he says he is? As in... he's working for Gabriel and them to recruit Paige, since they don't trust Phillip and Liz to do it?

There's just no way Pastor Tim goes public, and I'd be really put off if they made him into the usual one-note molester. What could he possibly do? And if his choice is to tell Phillip and Liz, what would they do about Tim? And Paige?

Terrific finale. Terrific season. Terrific show.
699629, i never thought that Pastor Tim could be anything but an earnest Christian
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sat Jun-20-15 12:40 PM
But he would make the perfect double agent. Liz and Philip don't suspect anything less than honesty from him from despite their training and expertise.

This season was more scattershot than Season 2 as far as the espionage, but it dis deal with alot of the fragility of Liz's and Philip's marriage which is one of my favorite parts of the ahow. What can I say, I'm a sucker for subtext.

There were some great momenta from this season. The 'suitcase' episode. Philip confessing he didn't want to kill the young girl, Philip's tension with Gabriel (side note, How great was it to have Frank Langella on the show this year? Great on the screen as usual.), Liz showing more of herself to Paige, Paige catching her brother looking at Ms. Beaman., Philip taking off his hairpiece in front of Martha, Liz kicking the asses of the FBI agents and then killing the guy working on his car the next week. All this *plus* a Tony Kornheiser sighting.

Can't wait for Season 4 and for some shout outs from the Emmys.
