679920, Undateable (NBC)
Posted by handle, Mon Jun-02-14 11:33 AM
I like Ron Funches, thought the rest of the show was a less funny Two and A Half Girls.

679929, Another failure by NBC

This just isn't that funny, and I keeping thinking of the main guy from NBC's other cancelled show Whitney.

I have o faith in the execs at NBC.
679937, What does this mean?

>and I keeping thinking of the main guy from NBC's other cancelled show Whitney.

680144, I'm talking about the dating guru character
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Thu Jun-05-14 02:11 PM
wasn't he the boyfriend on Whitney. Everytime I see him I think of Whitney, which was one of NBC's other sitcom fails in the past 2 years.
680149, It's him.

680153, I thought so, I seem him and think of Whitney
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Thu Jun-05-14 04:18 PM
and the one episode of Workaholics he was on playing a fedora wearing pedo.
679932, So many funny comics on this show.

Which is why the fact that it looks so bland is such a damn shame.

Rick Glassman is one of the most exciting stand ups in LA.
679941, damn you!!!
Posted by Calico, Mon Jun-02-14 02:07 PM
it really IS alot like 2 Broke Girls...i didn't hate it, but it was generic as hell
679957, Just saw it. Not awful, primarily because I like Morin and Funches.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Jun-02-14 05:47 PM
It's such a shame that they took everything that makes Glassman exciting and made him a standard misogynist. Ugh.

And D'Elia has moments, but I don't know if he does it for me as the guy leading a sitcom.

Material is... okay, nothing special. A couple of funny bits and moments. I really like Morin-- he'll get better material in the future. Hopefully in this show's future... but highly doubtful.
679959, Not sold on D'elia as a leading man either.

But Brent's a star. I'm not sure how he'll get there, but he is.

Rick is such a great actor but this role is thin.

Ron is kinda wasted.
679961, Morin's just so likable with great joke delivery.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Jun-02-14 06:44 PM
He'll be in more sitcoms until they find the one that sticks.
679988, Generic and D'Elia isn't a strong enough actor
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Jun-03-14 09:37 AM
It would be interesting to see him in a show of his own material where he could be more comfortable and connected to the material but he doesn't sell the jokes here and often feels needy when delivering the albeit weak punchlines.

It also felt like, a few times, that the actors were close to breaking. Obviously, it's a pilot and people need to grow into their characters but, as you noted, these are all pretty generic, standard archetypes. Overall, a lot of this felt like a local theater production rather than a network sitcom. Even the staging, for instance, at the mixer, seemed off.

It's doing well ratings-wise so maybe they'll get more time to rejigger the show but for now, I'm out.
679996, Couldn't get through the pilot.

Insipid, pedestrian and WILDLY predictable.

Pass.
680038, ron funches is playing a grown-ass arnold drummond.

680063, This is BAD, like REALLY bad
Posted by Dae021, Wed Jun-04-14 12:41 PM
The laugh track was qued up to laugh at the first line of dialogue, naw young this one is not getting it done.
680065, I will say I applaud their collection of white women though

NBC stepping their thickness game up
680148, Here Here!
Posted by JiggysMyDayJob, Thu Jun-05-14 02:43 PM
NBC keeps the thickness coming.

I'm still mad that ABC cancelled Trophy Wife, cause Marcia Gay Harden had some wonderful mature thickness going on.
680166, bianca is fine as fuck.
