If I care about the characters and they give me cinematic "moments" within the absurd action, I won't care about physics. That's what Justin Lin does so well: he knows how to craft those moments we remember (the safe, Vin jumping across the freeway to catch Letty, etc).

The fifth Die Hard fails cuz it gives us no reason to care for the characters nor does it give us memorable cinematic moments. It's mostly incoherent nonsense. At least the fourth one gives us a couple of marquee action shots (the car into the helicopter, the Maggie Q fight in the elevator, etc).
