Pepper being the best example, followed by the Black Widow, Peggy Carter, and to a lesser extent Maria Hill. They're active, and their concerns aren't solely defined by "will I make my boyfriend/ superhero love interest happy?"

Portman does have a couple of groan worthy one-liners, due to giving her an easy punch line ("you told your dad about me?" is funny, but not exactly strong woman shit), but she's an active character with believable stakes and good chemistry with Hemsworth. She's also in this film doing far more fighting and saving than she is "damsel in distressing." I can see someone calling her character annoying, as annoyance is super-subjective, but I personally think Jane generally fits in with Marvel's positive treatment of female characters.
