I loved Kick-Ass because it kind of shined a light on how superheroes themselves are crazy. This film pulls a 180 and almost seems to celebrate that insanity and the vigilanteism.
They waste the first half of the film resetting Hit Girl and Red Mist/Motherfucker to the exact same place where we left them at the end of the previous movie. (Kick-Ass meanwhile has reverted to where he was at the beginning of the first film.)
The Hit Girl in high school stuff shows that Wadlow should get a female writing partner to help him write women. Not that the whole film in general didn't feel like it was written by a 16 year old boy.
Enough jokes landed that I didn't hate it but it's one of the more disappointing films of the year and definitely something people can skip.
Thankfully, the shitty box office will either spare us from Kick-Ass 3 or it'll just be a straight-to-DVD flick.
