The conclusion as they call. Until it makes $500 mill at the BO.

That trailer is still not better than this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9CF8l6Pe8w
643485, I'm going to see it.

643489, I'll need some reviews first.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Mar-07-13 08:37 PM
The second one was aggressively bad, to the point where I almost walked out.
643496, but...don't you....review....movies...?

I'm not gonna put myself through another one unless I feel there's a reason.
643500, I watched the entirety of it
Posted by YaBoy...Holla@ME, Thu Mar-07-13 09:30 PM
Don't remember anything about it. It was just so... forgettable
643551, When people say it's the same exact movie as the first its not a joke
Posted by BigReg, Fri Mar-08-13 11:14 AM
It's LITERALLY the same exact movie as the first; if I wasn't lazy I wanted to try to get two digital copies and sync them up and see if the timing of the scenes were the same as well.

I felt like the movie was a big waste of time but hey we'll see.
643522, I didn't laugh until the giraffe bit.
Posted by KneelB4Me, Fri Mar-08-13 01:56 AM
I'll watch this one the same way I saw the first two - illegal streaming.

And I thought the first one was hilarious.
643554, I really hope they don't pull the bullshit they pulled last time.

643572, there better be a spin off of Hangover....
Posted by andacagar, Fri Mar-08-13 03:04 PM
.
643574, This seems like it's gone off the deep end
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri Mar-08-13 03:24 PM
The first one had a nice ebb and flow to it. Things sucked, then there was light at the end of the tunnel, but then things turned out to be worse than expected. In the second one, things just went from bad to worse to even worse. This seems like it's bad to ridiculous.

I think they needed to change up the format instead of just repeating "Three guys go to someplace; hijinks ensue." Well, they needed to in terms of quality, clearly they made money to not give a shit about making a better film.

Still don't know though.
646779, This trailer lost me
Posted by SoulHonky, Thu Apr-11-13 02:06 PM
Granted, I'm not a Ken Jeong fan so I'm a bit biased but I think going with him as the key driving force behind the film is the wrong direction to go in. Although if they were going to go in this direction, they should have gone 100% and just made it a heist movie or something. Ocean's 11 but with the Hangover gang.

They need to take a page out of the franchise that they are going against this summer, Fast and Furious, and just forget the original concept and take it to the next level of ridiculousness and revel in it.
646832, Eh. Better but still very eh

650926, I'm not sure it was even better than 2
Posted by jigga, Tue May-21-13 05:55 PM
At least that one had the monkey

Cooper completely phones this in & Helms seems like he's had enough as well. I guess that's kinda the point this time but it felt like Zach was the only one still havin fun.

If you don't catch the Goodman chinaman reference w/ Chow the first time don't worry.
650932, RE:lol, ain't nobody here interested in this, lol

trailer is not funny

I was thinking this would come in number 1 this weekend but now i am not so sure.

650951, Meh. At least it's better than 2.
Posted by bwood, Tue May-21-13 10:05 PM
Honestly this shot is so dark that it's not even funny for a stretch of the movie. It all feels tired. And they say it's the last one, yet they're still doing dumb shit in a stinger in the credits which basically combined 1 & 2 in 5 minute clip. Definitely see Fast & Furious 6 this weekend and rent this.
651044, As much as I wanted to like it I was kinda underwhelmed, if you go...

651047, An improvement over Part II
Posted by ZooTown74, Thu May-23-13 03:04 AM
Fairly straightforward story but the tone was decidedly (and thankfully) less mean than the one that came before it

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it's a good movie. It just sort of lays there, with laughs that happen in pockets (the pawn shop scenes with Melissa McCarthy, the scene after the first set of end credits) mixed with a couple of odd set pieces and action that doesn't make any sense... the ZOMG shock laughs are pretty much held in check, which was fine, but if you're going to do that then you need more jokes, and specifically, more jokes that are actually funny, since this one is pretty much an action comedy.

Once again, Zach and Ken Jeong were the movie, with everyone else yelling out WHAT THE FUCK at random intervals, which was supposed to echo our thoughts as everything unfolds, I guess? The last time, I didn't have much of a beef with Ken's "performance," but this time I thought a little of him went a long, LONG way. Zach also annoyed me more than I thought he would, although I thought his quiet moments (like the ones with McCarthy) were when he was at his best. And I actually looked at a couple of the actors, such as Bradley Cooper and Mike Epps, and, every time they appeared on screen, wondered why they were in this movie.

All that said, once again, the audience I saw this with ate most of this up, though, like me, they didn't exactly crack up at every joke. And I know that everyone involved is swearing that this will be the last one, but once Time Warner backs up that Brink's truck after this weekend's (possibly huge) grosses, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to wring one more out.

Hmph.

Especially if the people dying (1 by heart attack, 1 by getting shot) are secondary/almost minor characters

And yes, Mike Epps was a secondary/almost minor character, even in the first one

This was dark and not fun and I found this more mean spirited that Part II.

651123, There's a great action set piece in the last third... but that's it.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu May-23-13 07:16 PM
Not nearly as bad as the second. It just sort of exists. Not terribly funny either.

But the Vegas action sequence for the Palace break-in is nifty. Maybe the best part of the trilogy.
651219, Stunned how badly this is bombing at the box office.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri May-24-13 06:45 PM
Not bombing per se... but maybe an over 50% drop from H2's first three days seems tremendously likely... 50-55 mil at best over four days. Good grief.

I mean, good for audiences and all. But I'm stunned.
651231, Really? You're surprised?

Just checked out the mojo and boy hangover 3 is really bombing. Only took in 26 million so far. Not only is Fast 6 crushing it so is Epic. Epic done took in 36 million gee that sure shocked me.

yea, I don' t think After Earth is going to do well at all. Everytime I see the trailers, I just have no interest in watching the movie at all...none.

The Hangover III is the same way since two was so horrid....

I'll have to catch Fast 6 at some point this summer...

it also leaked in Germany and several other European cities.

an undergrad chum said he saw a copy of it in Amsterdam and was not impressed.

Truth be told, the visuals look great i just don't know if people are going to care enough for a movie with basically, a gawky looking lil Will Smith Jr. carrying a movie when we all know his cuteness and being a little kid is what saved the karate kid remake.

now jaden is what? about to be a high school freshman and looks all kinds of weird?

i don't know...

pretty much. i mean, damn Fast 6, Epic, The Hangover, Iron Man 3, The Great Gatsby, Star Trek 2...all those movies competing for dollars this weekend and all it takes is bad reviews to fuck up momentum.

Fast 6 has it...the others, don't.

AE is going to need great reviews and LOTS of great word of mouth to make money.

Fast 6 made damn near $100 million dollars in 3 days. Add to it that Star Trek 2, Iron Man 3, and Great Gatsby are all holding over very well and will hold over next weekend too. Add to the fact that Now You See Me also opens and After Earth is just fucked in my eyes.

*edit* Also, forgot that Mud is doing extremely well too for an indie film like that. This is a prime example of word of mouth and great reviews.

basically. Damn, Mud has been playing for what? nearly 2 months now...sheesh.

but yea AE needs great reviews and word of mouth to do remotely well. It really does.
651345, I'm thinking they should have left it the week before Superman.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon May-27-13 01:18 AM
Yeah that'd only give em one week... but it'd give Fast 6 another week to cool down. Realistically, they were gonna need one big weekend to be anything close to a statewide success.

I'm keeping an open mind because kids really do like Jaden... but the lack of ads is concerning. Seems like they're just punting America, ready for it to make whatever it may make, and putting all their focus into the overseas markets, where I still think it'll make a hell of a lot of money-- enough for it to be considered a success.

well didn't Fast 6 make well over 122.5 m plus domestically plus another 275 M worldwide in one weekend?!

The Hangover III did bomb compared to Fast 6: 42M/64M over the entire weekend...

real talk: Hangover III should have been dropped in August...it would have MADE a LOT more money if the studio did that. by that point, we all know August is the summer "dumping" ground for movies that would be a hard sell during the other months, threequels, etc.

if H3 was dropped in August it would have made WAY MORE....

shout out to Obie grad Ed Helms though. I'm glad you made SERIOUS bank because that annoying comedy schtick you got is wearing THIN and unless this rumored National Lampoon Vacation reboot with Chevy, Beverly and you and Christina Appelgate doesn't pop when it comes out...yea, im glad you made serious bank on these hangover movies because you being billed as a "comedy star"....*crickets*

as for AE, it's clear the studio is GUNNING for the overseas money. i mean, that's where studios recoup on nearly EVERY movie they put out.

I do think AE will make its money overseas...

but the lack of ads for this...is troubling.

at one point you saw them all the time...a few MONTHS ago.

now with the movie opening this Friday...i've seen maybe two ads for the movie...

not good.
651344, Young people fucking loved The Hangover II.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon May-27-13 01:14 AM
It was an *event* at my high school, a flick all the kids went and saw multiple times.

I actually wonder if the format change hurt them more than it helped them, or if it was just time for that inevitable comedy sequel burnout.

But the target audience for this flick wasn't back lashing cuz of 2. Young people absolutely love both 1 and 2. So yeah, I'm shocked. I thought Fast 6 would for sure win, but that even with a big fall off from the last films opening weekend, 70 mil seemed a lock.
651354, the target audience musta been a buncha cunts then lol...
Posted by araQual, Mon May-27-13 04:24 AM
cos Pt. II was just...cuntiness.
not funny.
not endearing.
a horrible horrible movie experience with zero redeeming qualities.
an absolute pointless exercise that stripped anything you ever loved about those characters and made em into soulless ghouls.

i'm not particularly in tune with the current gens POV on Pt. II as u seem to be but just based offa the film itself, lets give the benefit of the doubt to the 'indended audience' of these flicks (yung n dumb) that they can tell the diff b/w a funny movie (Pt. I) and a shitty one (Pt. II), at which point neither me nor the 'intended' is/are surprised that Pt. III is technically tanking.

its pretty clear to me Pt. II did 'bers offa the goodwill of Pt. I.
but since Pt. II was like the equivalent of recieving a mental enema with a pitchfork, i would assume most intelligent beings with a sense of humour realised it's likely the first was a fluke and that Pt. III will also suck the llamas balls. then again, the only saving grave for Pt. III is that those who thought Pt. II was just some random abberation will give it one final chance seeing as it IS (supposedly) the last film in the 'franchise'. but judging from the reporting in this poast, looks it's the former moreso than the latter (thank FUCK).

Posted by bwood, Mon May-27-13 07:40 AM
I was talking to my brother and niggas round his age (18, 19, 20), and they even said no to this shit. The target audience is seeing Fast 6
651370, Many of my kids were trying to decide between the two.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon May-27-13 10:30 AM
I thought they'd end up seeing both, or that more kids would choose H3 than they did.

Oh well.
651386, I don't think most kids knew about the format change
Posted by ZooTown74, Mon May-27-13 01:21 PM
To me, this is as simple as this franchise going up against another white-hot franchise

Fast Five was a solid movie, capped by a hell of a teaser for 6 (the reappearance of Michelle Rodriguez) which made you want to see: a) how she'd be brought back, and b) what new car stunts and tricks we'd see

Even if we thought it was shitty and mean-spirited, you're right, the kids ate The Hangover II up

So Warners got cocky and assumed that the kids would rather see another (supposed) raunch fest than see how that Fast Five cliffhanger would be resolved... they played up the ominous-ness of "this is The End of the Epic Trilogy," assuming that people would hop in line to watch just how much further these guys would debase themselves, and if it would have (implied) grimly funny consequences...

They should have moved this up to mid-to-late April, or even to late June; I bet they won't make this mistake again with Fast 7... lol

I read that only 45 percent of III's audience was under 25 years old, which is a big drop from the 54 percent who showed up for II. young, targeted tastemakers shunned it, joining all the older folks to see Fast 6.

...but it wasn't good either...Alan and ken (i forget the characters names) irked me more than made me laugh....

they patted themselves on the back ALOT in this movie, and tried to make it a lil bit of everything...neither worked....

i swear tho, there seemed like there were a couple The Wire references in there, but i'd have to watch again to be sure, so i'll probably never know...

...i'm glad all the parties involved get a nice check from this, but i hope they all gon on to make better stuff than this....especially ZG
