I didn't think Lohan's performance was particularly special. Sure, she could make herself cry, but in most of those scenes, there didn't seem to be anything real behind it. That's just my opinion though. To each his own...
If you feel up to it, peep a couple of these student films...they feature performances that dwarf anything Lindsay or anybody else did in 'The Caynons'

Every time they had an exterior scene, I FELT the looping deep down in my core. It was painful.

You're definitely right. Exposition was the wrong choice of word. It was more so uninteresting people pontificating about absolutely nothing for long stretches of time. That goes back to the stilted dialogue. I agree that there was too much going on with the plot and about the unspoken motivations. I still feel like it was a mess.
