583153, South Park, Season 15 (Part Two)
Posted by Marauder21, Wed Oct-05-11 07:11 PM
After a shockingly strong first half (considering it was made in the run up to a monster Broadway smash,) let's see what Matt and Trey have up their sleeve for this year. Wonder how they're going to address the stuff that happened in "You're Getting Old" (if at all.)
583166, LOL @ going after Terra Nova in first minute

583180, This episode should've featured Bachmann.
Posted by PierreOrdinaire, Wed Oct-05-11 09:59 PM
Remember how they made Paris look? Well, they could have a field day with that lunatic Michele Bachmann.

So ............

Is this show going to move into more realistic territory for the characters? Example: Will Stan be an alcoholic from here on out? The show has always used satire to comment on serious real-life issues, but the characters themselves were always immune, most of the time showing up in next week's episode unscathed.

I don't know if they're trying to move away from the old formula (the "cast" simply being players used to make a bigger point about shit going on in real life) to focus literally on characters' conflicts.

I DO know that I haven't enjoyed these last two episodes as much as other recent SP.

583188, They clearly said everything will go back to normal after this ep

583211, The Part 1 finale had one of the best moments in SP history.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Oct-06-11 08:26 AM
The Stan/Wendy discussion in which Trey and Matt were disheartened by the passage of time was so refreshing to hear.

The ending of this episode was strangely poignant too. The Landslide montage that mirrored the Part 1 finale one-- really fascinating, honest television.

583294, ^this.

Not the funniest eps in SP history, but they might be two of my favorite episodes because of the poignant scenes. The mirroring montages were done very well
583313, the very last shot brought it all together

everything IS shit. that's why we're all alcoholics.
583710, Anybody catch that Making of South Park special last night?
Posted by Oak27, Mon Oct-10-11 09:01 AM
I thought it was great, makes me really appreciate how good this show is even though episodes are created in less than a week, usually barely making the cut and on the fly the entire time.

As happy as I am as a fan of South Park during the 7 weeks in both spring and fall when new episodes are airing, it must be the most completely miserable time for all of the people involved in making the show, Trey especially. Honestly, when it finally comes time to hang it up, I won't be mad at Trey and Matt at all.

It almost makes me wonder why they don't just turn production into like 10-14 weeks to make the 7 episodes. Especially because it seems like Trey is always upset over the finished product because of how much needed to be cut and because he definitely feels that it was rushed.

Being in the writing room while they bounce ideas around on day 1-2 must be a crazy time, but I do feel bad for all of the animators who basically are at the mercy of Trey towards the end of the week not knowing when they'll actually be able to DO their actual job and needing to wait around, sleep in the office and be ready to get working AS SOON as that script is ready.

They no doubt are having a great time (Trey and Matt), at least during the recording of the episodes. So that gives me hope that they'll at least keep this going for a few more years.

Also, LMAO at them describing their time at the Oscars on acid.
584362, RE: Anybody catch that Making of South Park special last night?

Trey told you why they only do them in 6 days. Otherwise he'd be retooling an episode for weeks in hopes of maybe getting a better 5 minutes out of it. The quick deadline allows them to move on and forget about any little bits they wish they could change after the fact. Or Robots or Aliens. Whatever. Fuck you!
586253, the crazy schedule also lets them be topical.
Posted by ternary_star, Thu Oct-27-11 02:43 PM
since they do an episode every week, they can write about stuff that's happening the same week as when the episode airs.

i can't really think of another non-talk show that does that.
584264, What did he say? I actually don't speak spanish

587974, This (half) season sucks
Posted by Oak27, Thu Nov-10-11 04:14 PM
Outside of the Broadway episode, there hasn't been one episode that fall that I ever care to see again. Goes to show how great a character Randy is. The highlight of the season has been the "Making Of..." special.
587976, The stuff with Natalie Portman was funny
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Nov-10-11 04:56 PM
Everything else kinda fell flat. Pretty dumb episode.
587999, I found the entire ep hilarious except for Natalie Portman...

588017, i loved all the snipes at the history channel

the portman stuff fell flat with me
588034, The stuff at the beginning with the History Channel was funny

But once they got to Miles Standish as Thor, it just stopped working for me.

As for the Portman stuff, eh, it worked for me, at least with Kyle having to take her out to dinner to get her to "open her wormhole."
