518976, Breaking Bad / Mad Men fans mobilize (??) Posted by JungleSouljah, Fri May-21-10 07:21 AM
GD folks are talking about the Grey's Anatomy finale like it was the second coming. "It was the best hour of TV I saw this year."
FOH.
I'll be honest and say I haven't seen Grey's at all since Season 3, but I have my doubts that they did more than just nonsensical melodrama. They don't have Pollos Hermanos. They don't have Tha Murdah Twinz. They don't have Betty Fucking Draper, The Coldest Dame this Side of the '60s.

518982, The only episode of Grey's I ever watched... Posted by Frank Mackey, Fri May-21-10 08:08 AM
when they showed the episode after the Super Bowl a few years ago. When Christina Ricci has a undetonated bomb in her stomach. That was all the Grey's I needed in life.

518991, I hate medical drama's that require a huge suspecion of disbelief Posted by BigReg, Fri May-21-10 08:20 AM
Now don't get me wrong, TV has a history of crazy ass 'Bring him to Emergency stat...he time travelled into Chernobyl and has 20 years of radiation, can we cure him' type medical cases they to to fake ramp up drama.
But like, in something like House, what little ive seen, when they bring in preposterous stuff like that it's a showcase for House to do what he does best: be an asshole and solve shit. It's like a cranky, asshole Sherlock Holmes.
Other shows, it just seems like cheap writing.

518994, Mad Men is the best show on television Posted by isisbabyboy3, Fri May-21-10 09:10 AM
with Breaking Bad a not too distant second.
As for Grey's Anatomy...it's top second tier entertainment. Yes, I'm a snob.

i'm not mad at this, cause i love Mad Men but i give Breaking Bad the edge. that show is just amazing. i dont watch Grey's at all though so i can't speak on it. doesnt interest me at all...and i was an ER fan back in the day.

519040, I can agree with this only because they've had more episodes Posted by El_essence, Fri May-21-10 01:36 PM
than BB. But Breaking Bad has not had a bad episode yet.

519036, Yeah, they on that bullshit Posted by ZooTown74, Fri May-21-10 01:19 PM
Grey's was fire, no doubt, but the only reason I tuned in for the first time in 3 years was the promise of one of those annoyingly self-absorbed main characters gettin' murked
I don't know who this Reed chick was, but I was in once she got gunned-up and clapped quick in the first 5 minutes
On another note, I highly recommend Shonda Rhimes' Grey's blog, where she talks about her mindset while writing these two episodes... it's a good read...

519092, I can't describe how much better Season 2 is Posted by JungleSouljah, Fri May-21-10 09:49 PM
and Season 3 is going to blow you away. It's eclipsing Mad Men right now.
|
519094, *most of it is. Posted by Nopayne, Fri May-21-10 10:08 PM
There's that one part that's really, really bad. I won't spoil it.
|
519119, I still don't think that part is as bad as everyone says Posted by JungleSouljah, Sat May-22-10 09:44 AM
It may be a little heavy handed, but people are over-reacting I think given the overall quality of the series otherwise.

519126, what part? Posted by cereffusion, Sat May-22-10 03:41 PM

519167, I'm assuming we're talking about the Season 2 finale Posted by JungleSouljah, Sun May-23-10 08:54 AM
but I could be wrong.
|
519178, oh yeah, that did suck Posted by cereffusion, Sun May-23-10 11:14 AM
terribly.
but I still love the show.
|
519127, I don't either, and it fits perfectly with the theme of the show Posted by ZooTown74, Sat May-22-10 04:51 PM
That is, if it is what I think it is.
I know that cats were pissy about it here, but it makes perfect sense, even if it's a "logical" plot letdown from what came before it.
