That's pretty much what saying someone is a "superstar" implies. Like, Will Smith is a "superstar."
Mencia is just more successful than most comedians, and yes, we mad about it, because:
a) dude ain't funny
b) dude pissed all over the path that got him to this point by stealing other standups' jokes
