457959, CROOZE brings in that "hack" Abrams to help produce M:I4 (swipe)

I still don't see how Crooze hopping up and down on a couch... on Oprah... about being in love... would "turn off women," which is what Ol' Man Sumner said when he kicked CROOZE off the Paramount lot...

>'Mission: Impossible IV': Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams to return for 2011 release

Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have agreed to co-produce Mission: Impossible IV for Paramount, Variety reports. The film is scheduled for a 2011 release. Abrams is currently at work on a Star Trek sequel -- he has not decided if he will direct or just produce that film -- and Cruise is committed to make an untitled film with Cameron Diaz for 20th Century Fox, directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma). No writers have been assigned to M:I4 yet, but a decision is likely soon. Abrams will not decide if will direct M:I4 until after he sees a finished script. Reports surfaced last week that Cruise and Abrams had met to discuss the project.

M:I4 would be Cruise's first film at Paramount since his production company left the lot in August 2006. Sumner Redstone, the head of Paramount parent company, Viacom, had made disparaging public comments about the star, saying that Cruise's now-infamous couch-jumping on Oprah and the resulting media firestorm had cost the studio between $100 million and $150 million on M:I3 because Cruise had turned off women. (The film earned $398 million worldwide, the lowest-grossing installment of the franchise.) Cruise's 14-year relationship with the studio ended soon afterward. Cruise took over United Artists in the wake of the break-up.

In March 2008, Redstone began trying to mend fences and invited Cruise to lunch in Beverly Hills. Redstone said of the meeting that he and Cruise "agreed the past is the past and we would put it behind us and renew our relationship." Which is not to say that they'll be taking family vacations together anytime soon. "I wouldn't exactly say that they 'made-up,'" a source familiar with the situation tells EW.com. "It was more like a gentlemen's handshake." At recent appearance, Redstone reportedly described Cruise as a "great actor and a good friend."

Stop using slang just for you to be cool
Cause I go back to when it was cool to be you
458111, Mission Impossible might be the worst franchise ever.

Two was terrible, One wasn't that good, and 3 was a passable action movie but not great and instantly forgettable.

I really don't think three was good enough to get Abrams a return engagement.
458115, by far Abrams best work. It's not even close.

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
458150, Star Trek, Lost (season 1), and Felicity are all better

458146, not even in the decade's worst...them damn oceans films are sickening

458151, Mission 1 and 2 are worse than any Ocean's movie.
Posted by SoulHonky, Fri Jun-19-09 12:09 PM
And I'd say Ocean's 11 is the best of both franchises.
458158, Mission 1 was cool & def. better than Oceans 12

Oceans 13/12 better than M:I? never
458347, Maybe not 12 but I think 13 was better.
Posted by SoulHonky, Sat Jun-20-09 09:31 PM
I think 3 is the best Mission Impossible movie.
458370, I thought 12 was better than 13

Pacino I don't care for much nowadays and the casino set-up was too similar to 11. of course 12 had plenty of holes but at least it went foreign.

anyway, the first M:I at least had some suspense and drama to it -- which are devoid in ALL Ocean's movies. and the tunnel train scene is still tops.
458372, I would say 3 is my least favorite M:I movie.

1 was a great summer flick. I would say better than any Ocean's flick.

2 was retarded, but stupid hilarious John Woo fun. The last half of M:I2 was more fun than nearly every action film so far this summer.

3 was fine, but it played like... well, an episode of Lost. The acting was good, but the same operatic scale of what was at stake wasn't there. Even the music was similar. It was still cool, but I feel like it plays way better on a small screen than a big screen. PSH was terrific though.
458300, First one is fantastic, you crazy...

I'll argue till I'm blue in the face on that first one. A
The 2nd one was really really bad. F
The 3rd one was OK. B-
458162, I don't think it was the couch jumping that turned women off
