Fox won't renew 'King of the Hill'
Final 13 episodes are wrapping production

Thirteen has proven not-so-lucky for Fox's veteran animated comedy "King of the Hill."

After several previous brushes with cancellation, the network has opted not to renew the series beyond its current 13th season.

In April, Fox picked up 13 more episodes from the 20th Century Fox TV-produced show, which are wrapping production.

A lot has changed since "King of the Hill" premiered in 1997. Its creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge have moved on to other projects -- Daniels developed and is running NBC's "The Office," and Judge has a new animated series, "The Goode Family," launching on ABC in midseason.

Judge had continued to voice the central character on the toon comedy, alongside voiceover cast members Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Brittany Murphy, Tom Petty, Johnny Hardwick and Stephen Root.

"Hill" has been exec produced by Judge, Daniels, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa.

Fox is introducing two new animated series in midseason, Mitch Hurwitz's "Sit Down, Shut Up" and the "Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show."

Still one of my all-time favorite shows and I feel that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves compared to its contemporaries in the animated categories.
411581, it doesn't get *half* the recognition is deserves

I mean i love my south parks, simpsons, and family guys too, but there's something to be said about a animated show that (for the most part) stayed within the realm of reality and still managed to be funny.

People don't realize how brilliant this show was for that fact alone.
411640, I totally agree.

I always loved King of the hill.
i still remember watching the first episode in college and completely losing it the first time I heard Boomhaur talk.
411580, The good news is we're getting a new Mitch Hurwitz show.....
Posted by rorschach, Fri Oct-31-08 03:09 PM
I'm not sure how good it'll be or if it could possibly be as good as AD but I'm definitely looking forward to that more than The Cleveland Show.

In its prime King of the Hill was great, maybe no Simpsons, Futurama or South Park, but it definitely had a lot of LOL moments for me. I look forward to seeing the new cartoon Judge is working on.
411605, it never tried to be as out there as any of those shows
Posted by rob, Fri Oct-31-08 05:59 PM
but the only show that ever had realer moments was futurama.
411608, I can't believe it's been on for 13 seasons...

i love 'King Of The Hill'
like a few of you posted, it's consistent quality has been generally overlooked by many for more of flashier more in-your face toons.

Hank and the crew are 'real'...more developed characters than most 'live' shows...and it 'kept it real' for the whole run, and still kept the 'funny' in there too. But that 'real' aspect...the characters...yup, i'm gonna miss em...
411714, I never watched it anyways
Posted by Poisonous Dart, Sat Nov-01-08 07:20 PM
I've only seen a few episodes on syndication...bring back "The Critic" and "Daria".

*Kicks dirt on Hank Hill's bloated corpse*

411845, Bobby Hill is one of the greats.
Posted by Sef Mausberg, Mon Nov-03-08 01:51 AM
I haven't watched the new seasons and just got into the repeats on FX,but Bobby kills me.
411847, Never watched it as much as I should have, but it shits on "Family Guy"

411908, It's been time to go
Posted by Marauder21, Mon Nov-03-08 11:20 AM
The last few seasons have been largely subpar.

Still one of the GOAT's though. And I can't wait for Judge's new show.
411916, .......yup.
Posted by 13Rose, Mon Nov-03-08 11:51 AM
One of my favorite shows ever. I was in about the 11th grade when it premiered and I was SOLD. I'm gonna miss the man who sold Propane and Propane accessories I'll tell ya what. That damn "awematanye" episode when them and their lil childhood club induction for Bobby and Joseph was amazing.

They will be missed. I haven't watched a new episode in years though. 13 years is a hell of a run.
411934, as Cotton Hill went, so should have this show
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Nov-03-08 12:34 PM
The Doc knew it was on its final run...it's been a good long run... one of the GOAT shows on TV. Last night's Myspace episode was classic KOTH.
412011, Yeah I thouht last night's episode was solid
Posted by OldPro, Mon Nov-03-08 04:05 PM
> Last night's Myspace
>episode was classic KOTH.

any time you mix Hank and "newfangled" stuff you have classic King of the Hill

Hank trying to figure out MySpace was very funny to me.
412020, Appropriately I was Zombie Hank Hill for Halloween this year
Posted by Marauder21, Mon Nov-03-08 04:17 PM
Cheap costume and I can do the voice well.
412033, it's a good show, but I'm not too broken up about it
Posted by J_Sun, Mon Nov-03-08 04:54 PM
It had a good run for sure.

475315, Up for the final episodes
Posted by Tek4mula, Sun Sep-13-09 11:46 PM
Thought it went out well, still disappointed that FOX decided not to bring it back. It's getting a bit old and the later episodes tended to be more hit or miss but I could pretty much count on getting a couple laughs each episode from Bobby and Bill. That's more than I can say for most comedies on TV right now.

Finally get to find out what Boomhaur does for a living which is kind of cool.

So even though I was late getting on board the KOTH bandwagon it definitely turned out to be one of my favorites. Deserves some respect for a solid run.
475316, While it never hit the high notes of the Simpsons or the nerdy brilliance
Posted by Lardlad95, Sun Sep-13-09 11:52 PM
of futurama, it was easily the most consistent of the shows. It was a strong position player...

American Dad is growing into a fine replacement...still, The Rainey Street Alley Gang will be missed...

it had a good run.
475366, Very weak final season
Posted by OldPro, Mon Sep-14-09 11:44 AM
I've been watching a lot of the reuruns on comedy central the last few months... I can see now how far this show as fallen. Yeah its time to go.

Another thing, what was with the way they just stopped having everyone age after like season 3?
