well, i always thought one of the main strands of the movie's essence was illustrating how these cops+crooks' lifestyle choices ('walk out in 30 seconds' et al) affect the women in their respective worlds. for me that was the main theme of the film (aside from the vince/neil '2 sides of the same coin' thing, obviously)

i can barely watch the diner scene anymore. i just end up feeling sorry for al. bob sonned him *so* bad, lol. that shit was a blowout.

and the shootout scene alone deserved an oscar for sound. virtuoso work.
