Kane on his deathbed shakes his snow bubble and whispers 'Rosebud...'
a servant then arrives to find him dead

the rest of the film is propelled by a group of journalists trying to find out what 'Rosebud' meant, as an angle for their report on him

but there was no one there to hear him SAY Rosebud in the first place!
