Apparently someone got a hold of Thom Yorke's collection of tracks related to OK Computer and ransomed them for 150K.

The band apparently said 'F*ck You!' by releasing the tracks anyway, allowing fans to buy them all for only $23 bucks. Apparently they've been on the Web for free for some time as well.

Crazy.

like fuck it. its good. we were looking for a reason to put it out anyway, asshole.
3016926, They're the only band I can think of that is that secure in their career...

that would have done this.

Could you imagine if someone now had grabbed some DAT's from the 2001 era from Dre? I can't imagine he'd be as cavalier and laid back about the leak as Radiohead.

Dre's entitled to take care of his legacy as he wants but his reaction likely would contrast with Radiohead's quite a bit.
3016966, Yeah, I don't see Dre cooperating.

I think race and a lot of other factors would be brought up if this happened to anyone in the hip-hop/R&B community.

Looking to put it out that is.
Thom even said when they released it that he didn't think it was very interesting material. They just did it to say FU to the thief.
3016978, i think its helpful

to younger artists just so they can hear that a session sounds as amorphous for them as it does for a huge band.
3016979, i dont disagree with that

was just pointing out that your description of their motivation was not accurate based on what TY has said
