3013762, Jazz for the 2019, New Releases and Whatnot
Posted by C. Thelonius, Thu Feb-07-19 07:18 PM
I thought I'd start this post cuz I got this in my email for a new Christian Scott album:

"Hello Everyone!

As Christian finishes up his Blue Note run this week and heads to the Grammys, we have a special announcement and wanted to get it to you a bit ahead of time. The first single from Christian’s new album is out worldwide tomorrow, and will be live on bandcamp tonight at 8 PM EST. This album is unique and we’ll be rolling out the story in the coming week, as the pre-order for the album will be live next Friday February 15th. Thank you for your support."
3013792, So excited to hear new Christian Scott is on the way!

At the risk of overdosing this post with jazzre:freshed & UK picks, here's a new project from pianist Sarah Tandy. Another cool line-up including Binker Golding (of Binker & Moses) on sax:

3014165, Irreversible Entanglements - 5.4.18
Posted by Kosa12, Sun Feb-24-19 07:03 PM
Irreversible Entanglements are one of my favorite jazz groups right now. It's free jazz with spoken word. This is a one track live set (1 hour and 23 minutes) of their first concert in London. You can download it if you sign up for Cafe OTO. The initial registration (which I think costs like 10$ but could be remembering wrong) gives you credits that you can use to download the albums available on their website (then you can unregister if you don't want to be charged monthly, I did that). Anyway, the concert is incredible - super passionate.

Three pieces, bass, drums and kamaal on keys.
And with only 3 pieces, your band HAS to be strong, and they were.
Was shocked after the show to hear that they'd only
been playing together for 3 weeks.

I was gonna leave cause I'm not as young as I used to be,
and standing that long was getting to me.
but once they got on, I couldn't.

Definitely go see him if you haven't.
