its ethos is straight hip hop!

he's spitting crazy... he's doing multis in odd meters, crazy complicated rhyme schemes and is SAYING something. he aint just connecting words

really the rhyming is next level ..i do understand the initial reaction. i didnt like the first single until i heard it in the context of the album and even then it took repeated listens

cats (not yall necessarily) said drogas light is gonna be hard to beat this year. i think earl did it.

i think lupe and earl both mastered the written word and they took opposite approaches to the beats. lupe went glossy/pop/non sampled and earl went the glitch/underground/sampled sound

for me its the writing... and the creativity in how he chose to format and present those poems
