3010960, I'm not there but...
Posted by Ishwip, Wed Oct-31-18 06:44 PM
....he's the weak link on this and I'm a fan of his.

Alchemist is the star.

I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno

3010961, Curren$y stepped his game up on this...
Posted by ry 213, Wed Oct-31-18 07:00 PM
He ditched his lazy mumble style and is rapping like he used to. Freddie shines on this album but I’d say that Curren$y isn’t totally overshadowed.
3010967, Freddie Gibbs is an absolute monster.
Posted by Numba_33, Wed Oct-31-18 10:16 PM
Good grief. So monstrous with the flows. Have to hope this gets released physically, and soon.
3010969, dope project coming out at the right time
Posted by Hellyeah, Thu Nov-01-18 04:38 AM
i'm not crazy about the beats like the rest of y'all...they're very similar to the ones on the carrollton heist which were a bit too sleepy for my taste
3010972, Great project. Perfect for the fall. Alc got heaters
Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Nov-01-18 06:39 AM
3010979, curren$y just isnt for me...
Posted by Small Pro, Thu Nov-01-18 11:12 AM
...like, enough that i can't just listen to freddie & alc here, like i usually would
3010985, He's so bad at everything, a waste of alchemist beats
Posted by guru0509, Thu Nov-01-18 01:03 PM
Nm
3011009, Curren$y sounds out of place here...BUT...
Posted by PROMO, Thu Nov-01-18 07:02 PM
Freddie Gibbs is so damn raw and on top of this rap shit right now that Spitta can't even fuck up the dopeness.
3011016, i'm going to give this another chance
Posted by Small Pro, Fri Nov-02-18 09:58 AM
freddie gibbs is so damn good.

i listened to some tracks again but this time in my homie's car instead of my headphones...made me want to revisit
3011032, Ultimately
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Nov-02-18 01:19 PM
>freddie gibbs is so damn good.

this is what makes this project with listening. Repeatedly.

The opinions on Alchemist's beats (I think they are pretty good for the most part and stellar on two or so songs) and Currency's raps (he's not fit to even being Gibbs' weed carrier) are subjective, but boy oh boy is Gibbs so mean on this effort.

Mean in the nicest way possible of course.
3011056, Currensy did better than y’all say but yeah Gibbs killed it
Posted by spirit, Fri Nov-02-18 08:25 PM
Alc beats fit the mood

Surprised how much Gibbs was singing on here.

Peace,

3014504, curren$y has grown on me immensely since this project
Posted by Small Pro, Mon Mar-11-19 11:06 AM
i like his verses on here now as well
3011067, Spitta did fine to me.

3011070, I'm from Nola and I still can't get into Currensy.
Posted by High Society, Sat Nov-03-18 12:35 AM
He's got some okay bars here and there but just something about him
that doesn't click with me.
3011072, this thread sums up Okayplayer in 2018

Posted by stone_phalanges, Mon Nov-05-18 10:57 AM
3011077, Willie Lloyd is amazing.
Posted by guru0509, Sat Nov-03-18 11:00 AM
3011089, All 3 sound great on this
Posted by justin_scott, Sat Nov-03-18 04:13 PM
Currensy murders The Blow a little more than Freddie, but Gibbs murders more songs than Currensy. Alc is the best producer from 2000-now.
3011138, Yeah, this is dope. Not getting the Curren$y hate
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Nov-04-18 07:19 PM
He does his thing here. Sure, Gibbs is better, but Gibbs is in general a better MC. Curren$y stays in his lane and provides the chill vibe.
3011167, I like both of them on this
Posted by 13Rose, Mon Nov-05-18 11:57 AM
I generally like Spitta though and he has a great ear for beats. Never fails.
3011309, i thought it was hard lol.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Nov-08-18 04:26 PM
3011352, i liked it
Posted by mista k5, Fri Nov-09-18 04:17 PM
dont know how much it will grow on me but it was a good listen and the whole album is in my 2018 rotation now.
3011370, Damn this bangs in the whip
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Nov-10-18 08:02 AM
I understand why folks knock Currency but he didn’t ruin this project.
3011376, 9 Scottie Pippens and I love it

3015307, Did folks cop this on Record Store Day this past Saturday?
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Apr-15-19 09:08 AM
This was my main motivation for getting up early Saturday morning and be willing to wait in line, but I couldn't pass up getting a physical copy of this since Gibbs was so fierce on this project.
3016169, I wanted to but found out about it on RSD...
Posted by QBoogie, Sun May-12-19 03:44 PM
... which I haven't been to the last two years due to the mayhem at them as of recent.

By the time things calmed down and I reached out Fetti was gone. Save me a trip.

Copped the regular vinyl off of ALCs site, but I prefer the RSD cover art.
3016088, man i dont generally fuck with instrumentals of rap albums
Posted by fontgangsta, Tue May-07-19 08:02 AM
it gets too repetitive normally - just makes me want to hear the record with vocals
im fine with records that are meant to be instro (dilla, blockhead, etc)

BUT - man these Fetti instros KNOCK.

They're all short enough not to get boring, and they've got their own mood, independent of the vocals, that lets these tracks live on their own really really well.
Alchemist really did something with this one
3016092, Were you lucky enough
Posted by Numba_33, Tue May-07-19 10:10 AM
to get one of those colored copies Alchemist was selling on his bandcamp?
3016093, i havnet bougt music in a physical format in years

Posted by mista k5, Mon Dec-23-19 11:37 AM
i forgot about this album. might need to give it another listen. i really dont remember it but i started liking curren$y this year. i dont love gibbs but i can get with some of his stuff. i dont think i played this album enough.
3021211, There's some weirdness that went down with its promo
Posted by mrshow, Fri Dec-27-19 02:58 AM
There's no beef between Gibbs and Curren$y but Gibbs mentioned something during a recent interview about Curren$y not being down to shoot any videos for it.

Swipe

https://ambrosiaforheads.com/2019/10/joe-budden-replacement-group-video/

The conversation moves to Gibbs opening up about why he feels the independent LP did not reach more people. “It’s an amazing album. I wish Curren$y would’ve helped me pump it, but whatever. That’s the Rap game. got ni**as like that. Shout out to Curren$y; I love Curren$y, but I wish he would’ve helped me with that album.” Budden asks if that is part of the responsibility of a collaborator. Gibbs insists it is, given that there is a product to promote. He adds that no videos were made for the nine-song effort, and that was because of the New Orleans, Louisiana MC.

“Y’all did a project together. That was agreed upon. That, for everybody, also don’t mean I’m agreeing to promote it, I want it to do the best, I’ma be in the videos—everybody don’t commit to the whole project. So what I’m saying is, was he wrong in that?” Gibbs responds that Curren$y is not wrong. “But me personally, I wish it would’ve went differently.” As Joe asks why the videos weren’t made, Gibbs says, “Bro. That’s a whole ‘nother conversation. ” He also insists it was not about compensation. “Curren$y rich too; it wasn’t a money thing.” Gibbs says that he is happy the album exists, is part of three artist’s legacies, and it can never be held against them for not creating the body of work.
